  1. They don't feel that they need to. They feel they have enough numbers to influence policy in the way they want to the detriment of practically everyone else anyway.
  2. Yeah, that could be so. Still, there's plenty of damage already been done, particularly in terms of the Supreme Court judiciary and societally in terms of just how massive a cult of personality has been built. Those will both have long lasting legacies already, goodness knows what another four years would be like.
  3. In many places, it already is?
  4. Here's hoping that thanks to savvy media manipulation and playing to prejudices in difficult times that percentage doesn't become high enough to really shape policy decisions.
  5. I honestly thought that the events of January 6th would be the end of pretty much any political candidate that even came close to being involved in it or endorsing it. Sadly, the times we live in appear to have changed. I just hope that in the future, those who look back at these times don't loathe us for what we as a species led them into.
  6. It has been a truly remarkable performance.
  7. Speaking personally I think the distinction easily remains large enough to make the challenge and choice utterly trivial and I'm not sure why that wouldn't be the case for most folks, but fair enough.
  8. And then the question becomes exactly why these "many Americans" focus on this and not the interviews from Trump, nor on the substantive policy differences. Why, exactly, is that?
  9. Applied enough scoreboard pressure to make the opposition crack. Would be a miracle if England didn't wrap it up from here.
  10. As is often the case, it would be laughable if the consequences of the decisions these people make weren't so serious.
  11. Absolutely. Double the "defense" budget immediately.
  12. If they're doing that then they may as well give him 10 more overs to let him go for the world record wholesale.
  13. Also, it's worth noting that in the vast vast majority of past Tests, two teams scoring this highly in their first innings would mean a nailed-on draw. England's playing style with scoring at speed has given them the chance to force a result here, nothing else.
  14. Should be getting that kind of lead from here no matter what happens now. Been going at a consistent 5 an over all along, too.
  15. ...not to worry, it's not the responsibility of humanity that this is happening and we really don't need all the biodiversity when the real objective should be maximising self-interest and economic output. ....right?
  16. On this topic, just finished series 1 of Showtrial and that was excellent. Good to see the Beeb hitting with that one.
  17. To that particular area of the Press/ media? Not wear a blue rosette.
  18. Ha, yes. But then if you look at the top tier on that record, that will probably only ever be held by one man. Edit: and the same for the fastest to 3/4/5/6000 runs too.
  19. Sadly, I fear that to be more true than we know.
  20. ... and all the time while a statistically significant portion of the population of their country believe, sincerely, that the event itself is a plot concocted by them to steal their "freedom" and/or they're directing all the resources being used to "illegals".
  21. Yeah. I would also say that knowledge (or lack thereof) contributes to the political views that drive that polarisation, as well as the polarisation itself, though.
