Quite apart from the moral complications, wealth disparity of the degree we're seeing today is simply incompatible with civilisational survival in the future. Something has to change or events far bigger than our species will take it out of our hands.

This may well be true. Mitigation is still going to include changing how we generate energy and going for net zero though. Or this current generation of humanity are still going to be responsible for the consequences future ones suffer simply because we could have done more and didn't.

On a personal level, hopefully getting onto the property ladder. On a nonpersonal level, simply seeing a sign that the next decade or two won't become firstly very difficult and then in some cases terminally difficult, first for people in far-flung places and marginalised communities, and then for everyone. In short, a sign that we're not following the timeline of Years and Years just a little later.

I know there can be an argument about the "strength of the squad" by comparison and what other managers might have done and that can go on til the cows come home as it is entirely subjective and conjecture, which is why I personally tend to just rely on the facts on paper - which are that the man is the second most successful England manager after Ramsey. If he doesn't deserve one (and there's a legit argument there), then no one but Ramsey did. But as others did get one...
