As with the Just Stop Oil protestors, perhaps this is a deterrent sentence.
-
The most disturbing thing about it is that those emotions aren't organic - they're being generated, manipulated and misused through blatant misinformation designed for that exact purpose.
-
A rather apt example of what Twitter has become, really.

Harris now level with the betting markets and marginally ahead in terms in national polling.
-
It does. However, in the interests of fairness, such a test, if applied or volunteered for, should apply to all.
-
Perhaps because she would think, rightly, that it would be discriminatory for her alone to take such a test when no others have. If that's the road that needs to be gone down, everyone involved should have been tested in the same way.
-
Perhaps we will have more Bolt-style natural geniuses that come in and change the game purely on their own strength, but yes, for now it appears that natural talent has found a ceiling and so elite level sport is about those marginal gains. I know other people will disagree, but I rather like the more cerebral element there.
-
I am happy that their own knowledge of testing and the organisations that carry it out is good enough for them to pass judgement on the matter without testing themselves, yes. Of course, running their own tests would add more clarity, I'm just not convinced of the absolute necessity to so, as you are.
-
... which brings us back to the details of the test being required in order to have the necessary clarity. Which might be be a bit of a headache. Speaking personally, I'm happy to take the word of the IOC on this one at face value.
-
If that was done, I would suggest that firstly the same test should have been done to every female participant in the interests of fairness, and secondly that the details of the IBA test (which remain confidential, it would seem) would need to have been made public to make sure that they knew exactly what kind of test they were checking the accuracy of. The IOC do seem to think that the rep of the IBA is mud, though. Of course, someone might say that even though that is the case, they may not be being deceitful in this particular case.
-
What should have been done that was not?

"36 points, how many centimetres is that in long jump?" Ennis/Lewis: "It doesn't matter." Far be it for me to go against supreme athletes, but I disagree - I think it does matter. It might be harsh, but this might have been another missed opportunity. (Just goes to show though that someone as good as Thiam punishes even the slightest lapse.)

So much Ag, so little Au. But she did give it all she could.

I reckon GB have left at least a half dozen golds out there.

This seems to be a rather recurring theme.

You have to laugh at the absurdity of the worldview to be honest...otherwise you then consider that enough people may actually think like that be able to impose said worldview both on the US and the biosphere. Better not to think about what the consequences of that are.
-
Yeah. It just makes me laugh (a bit) that anyone with a shred of ethical humanity can frame any of those bullet points in a negative way.

The f2 and c2 squares are such a weakness for White until it's shored up, glad you were able to exploit them overlooking that in favour of their Queen attack (with what looks like no supporting cast) to the full.
-
That Knight tucked away in the corner proving critical, as well as the White Bishop and Knight being horribly underdeveloped while your pieces are cooperating nicely. Nice combo, looks like it was a very open game.

This whole issue just shows how big a problem it has become. If everyone is getting different "truths", then public discourse becomes very, very difficult. And when you don't have discourse, then you get conflict.
-
Definitely ruled the velodrome, was really expecting similar this time around tbh. Do think "best of the rest" (as in 3rd behind the US and China) should be the consistent target, the Aussies really do well all round in that regard and we should be looking to rival them.
-
And with all that, it's the casual lack of concern for the future of the biosphere itself from him and those that follow him that is the most consequential thing.
