I'd rather it was looked at like that too. Then get the other side of the coin with a 'They are over performing and cannot sustain this, they are just getting away with it for now' which was talked about on the opening post.

That's a great explanation of xG. My only issue is that it cannot account for the level of player who's having the chance. Daka and Soumare's xG is the same as Vardy/Haaland/Ronaldo for the same chance. But honestly, its no different to the other 'discussions' about amount of shots/corners/possession stats when you don't take the chances either way, just a more modern one to throw into the mix.

We didn't need all the XG stuff, anyone who's watched us can see the issues in nearly every match weve played this season. Very few clear cut chances, and not that much effort off the ball.

Skipp has only played once in the last 7 matches, and VK has only played 64 minutes this season. I wouldn't say either are frozen out, but its a lot less than most people expected them to play.

The next game is the worry as Grant Atkins is the ref so it will be closer to NRL rules, ruck speed wise. England cannot keep trying to slow the tackles down and get away with it as much as they did in the first match. I also cannot see Wane making many changes to the team but you would expect to see a few like Smithies, Brimson & Smith coming into the team.

Closest we have this season is Skipp and VK. There isn't one 'fully frozen out' but those two have played less minutes than most maybe expected.

Quite a few last season under RVN. Vesty, Winks & Edouard as a minimum
