Christ! Yesterday was pretty sweet: We were heading into the business end of the season ahead of every other team in the league with an FA Cup quarter final to play. This evening I have read the last 5 pages of this thread and even though we haven't kicked a ball and the situation is exactly the same as yesterday, I have literally given up on this season, resigned myself to another season in the Championship, without a manager and I find myself looking for odds on us being relegated to League 1 next season!

Ipswich's style is refreshing to watch. Portman Road isn't short on excitement for sure, but if they go up (and I hope they do), they're going to have to play differently otherwise they'll be smashed most weeks.

Here's the thing... The jury system is a well oiled, tried and tested system that is largely reliable but there are some imperfections. Realistically the best type of system might be some sort of mix and match. Sometimes 12 reasonable members of the public are fine. Sometimes a particularly complex case might benefit more from a bench of lay judges. By the time a case gets to trial by jury, the evidence gathered will have been scrutinised by police, CPS, prosecution barristers and defence barristers. After all of that, the CPS will believe that there is a realistic chance of prosecution. There are varying degrees of certainty but in the vast majority of cases, the CPS are happy to proceed, in fact, the evidence is often so obvious, it is questionable as to what the point of the jury is at all. The CPS would be seen to be a failure if cases were literally a coin toss and they had a 50% success rate - what a waste of public money and court time that would be. They don't just rock up to court and see how it goes. Some cases are particularly high profile or very complex/serious and CPS might be less sure of a (positive) outcome. These are the cases where a panel of qualified judges might be a better option in the interest of justice. Of course though, this may raise the issue if fairness of trial. A defendant who is innocent until proven guilty would probably (if actually correctly accused) be better off rolling the dice and taking their chances with a jury - so who gets to decide?

I watched the final episode and thought it was a real eye-opener for all the points you've raised. I'd caught a few minutes here and there of the other episodes and I was very much in the murder camp. My wife had seen the whole thing, she was in the murder camp too. It was really interesting viewing around how dominate personalities within the jury room can sway others around to their interpretation of what's been presented.

More than enough

Some people get into politics to genuinely make a difference, on both sides of the house. Unfortunately there are lots of aspects that would make the career appealing to people who put "making a difference" as a low priority. You get media exposure, power, influence and more. What's more of a pity, is that those that put themselves forward for life on the front benches are often of the personality type that seeks power and influence over anything else. The media scrutiny that comes with those positions I can imagine would put most sensible people off. I would be much happier with boring, sensible politicians, but in this social media driven, reality TV society that we live in, voted win prizes, and popularity, not sensible policy, wins votes.

Too many people getting scared in here. Jeez! This is the FA Cup 5th round. One game from quarter finals, two from Wembley. Bournemouth are an excellent opposition for us to get a measure of where we are. I say go for it. We should be able to play the reserves against QPR and still get a result. Two games where we have dominated the game and deserved wins but ended on the losing side and everyone here goes into meltdown and then says it's the players that don't have any bottle. Get a grip.

The headline is more of a problem than the content. The physical and mental benefits of taking part in sports are well documented. This isn't about little Johnny being forced to play rugby for half an hour a week for about 6 weeks a year in the very controlled, risk assessed environment that is a Tuesday morning PE lesson, I think we're talking about kids that are really into rugby, that play at a decent level outside of school 2 or 3 times a week, or the kid who tried boxing as an 8 year old and loves it and goes to the local boxing gym twice a week. Increased exposure to the sport does increase the risk of brain injury and it is for (in conjunction with the child) the governing bodies of the sports, the local clubs and coaches and the parents responsibility to manage the risk. I dare say that there is room to improve in this area with all sports, but to suggest that allowing your son or daughter to play a sport that they love is child abuse is ridiculous and takes gravitas away from actual criminal child abuse.

If you are in a town or city, most networks are pretty good. In rural environments they can vary, if that's you then you should ask around or test different sims. I'm in a village and O2 is fine, Vodafone is patchy and EE/Three almost non existent, but that's not the same everywhere. EE are currently quite aggressively turning off 3G at the moment... Depending on your device/plan, this could have a bearing on your current experience. All networks are committed to switching off 3G by next year. Looks like Vodafone and EE will be first.

It's the club that gets punished because the club did a bad thing. It's ok to sympathise with the fans, but ultimately fans will support teams through the downs as well as the ups. If someone has a well paid job and their family enjoy a comfortable life but then that person decides to get drunk and drive home one night and gets arrested, which leads to the courts banning them from driving which in turn, leads to them losing their job and the family falling on hard times... Is it the court's fault that the family have to majorly adjust their lifestyle? No.

That's because they knew that FFP wouldn't really be applied to the big clubs. The only problem is that it turns out Everton aren't actually that big of a club in the grand scheme of things.

5G NSA is 5G propped up by the 4G network. 4G+ and 5G NSA are basically the same thing. Effectively the speeds are limited to the capacity of the 4G network. Pure 5G, 5G SA, has only relatively recently started to be rolled out. In Northampton, for example, 5G SA was installed on the Vodafone network in one small corner of the town around July/August. I think I'm right in saying that the first 5G SA voice call (requiring both parties to be connected to 5G SA) only happened in September and that was on EE. It will be a while before every town and city will have comprehensive 5G SA coverage across all four networks. Rural locations... Who knows?

5G Standalone (proper 5G) should be double that speed. You're probably picking up 4G+ which is marketed as 5G. 5G SA is being rolled out now in some towns and cities. I'm on O2 and my phone says 5G, but it's not true 5G, it's 4G+ (technically 5G Non-Standalone)

He'd get more game time here, but his career thus far has largely been one of bench warmer. What are the Villa Park benches like? I can actually see this happening.
