Alves loaned to Huddersfield - Official

Can you all stop mispronouncing his name now? I’ve known his dad since we were teens and the Al-vez thing does my head in! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0m197vb?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile -
Alves loaned to Huddersfield - Official

Page is up for a new contract at Leicester. He is being wooed and shown that the club value him. Same thing happened to Alves before he signed his contract renewal. Straight after he did Ayew, BEK, BcR and Buananotte were all signed. Is he now meant to wait while the Page thing plays out? Good for him to push for the loan and take some ownership over his development - because the club have been abysmal IMO in developing him properly. -

You have a point from a purely football perspective, but in terms of the financials this is absolute madness. Staying down for any length of time will be disastrous with the overheads we have. How much does the training ground cost to run? -

A good reminder of how far we have to go to win The Prem twice. -
I don’t get the Leicester dislike for Doyle. He was an important part of Maresca’s tactical play. It was literally his job to carry the ball forwards and link midfield or attack from defence. That meant he was sometimes out of position when the transition broke down. That doesn’t make him slow or crap. I thought he did a great job for us before he got injured. Wrexham have got a good player. I think he’d have strengthened us too.

First paragraph is pretty ageist. I’m pretty quiet when I go. Only so many times you can sing ‘Is this a library’ etc., with real gusto and enjoyment. Law of diminishing returns and feels pretty moronic, unoriginal and braindead by the time you reach your 6th decade.

It’s common sense. Some people just aren’t able to stand all game. They should be at the front or on the sides. If you want to stand do it further back.
-
I’d take the money for Fatawu. His final ball and shooting is erratic to say the least. He’s also just recovered from an ACL injury. There could easily be a setback in a matter of weeks.

He’ll go for around £25m I expect. -
Winks was brought here by Enzo to have the team built around him. It worked. From his perspective it’s been a pile of shit since Enzo left. He’s not wrong. He can still do one though. His attitude stinks.
-
We need a proper rebuild. Pearson style. If your attitude or work ethic isn’t evident you don’t play. Get back to basics. A manager with one of these ‘philosophies’ that is all the trend now won’t help us much either. Play players in there best positions. Right now we don’t defend well or attack well. The stats say we controlled the ball more than PNE. **** that.

Toxic in the boardroom. On the pitch and amongst the fans. How do you turn it around?
-
I keep saying Fatawu’s final ball is more shot than spot on. Same with his shooting.
-
This is the only thing Soumare is good at if asked of him!
-
Walks like he’s shat himself too.
-
I’m not sure if I despair more about our club being badly run or our so called fans of the team coming out with tripe like this.
-
Not a chance.
-
I think the club have dropped the ball with Alves. I expect he’ll be off sooner or later. No way does he sign a new contract with us.
-
Alves didn’t play to his best but neither did he have the luxury of BEK and Winks around him like Page did. Alves was also neither on the wing nor a proper 10 - so asked to play in a position that wasn’t to his best strengths.
-
Page is. See above.
-
Spot on. What also makes the club untrustworthy is that Alves was courted and promised the world before his newest contract was signed. Since then he’s been treated badly. Page is currently the one being courted because he’s up for a contract soon.

Those of us who were there at The Emirates will remember his goal against Arsenal! -
What an inspiring transformation! Most likely life-saving and life-extending too.
-
Can we try him as an attacking midfielder because he does have some nice touches and can really drive with the ball. All his infuriating moments come from getting brain fog when running back or playing poor balls out from deep. Are we playing him to his strengths? Seems like we keep trying to fit him into a system that doesn’t suit.
-
I didn’t like Winksy’s reaction tonight but he is our most important alchemical ingredient. The whole team is better when he’s on it. As long as he is the tide that lifts all boats he can be afforded his arrogance.
