I think there can be a big disparity regarding how people feel about it as well in terms of scale - for some it’s a gigantic, passionately felt issue, to others it’s “just another conflict”. In fact even saying that I reckon the former could feel anger rising with even the concept of the latter. And I say that as someone who’s really part of the latter. Which is why I generally try not to comment (I sometimes fail) because I know anything I say on it could be deeply upsetting to others. But I think that’s why, out of everything, it’s possibly the thorniest of issues out there. I remember the Covid thread was great for information. The Ukraine thread is generally civil because at least there’s agreement on the level of importance involved. I can only see an Israel/Palestine thread ending in upset and anger.

I enjoyed it while it was happening but if it was explained at the conclusion then I missed it.

If we’re all completely honest, who hasn’t been tempted? I’d respect his honesty.

I think I’d still vote for him at this stage.

Maybe sending tax evaders to volunteer a year in the military would be the compromise we could all agree upon.

There is a massive irony that the policy is effectively going to be aimed at libertarians, who should really be first in line to ideologically protest it. And then an even greater irony that they’ll probably back it because it’ll show those wokeflakes what’s what.

Out of interest, when you mention an increasing number of policies that you don’t agree with, what do you mean? I come from a position where I’d never vote SNP even given the chance so it’s not like I’m about to start actively discouraging you but I’m just curious about your viewpoint.

I fear there are so many land mines down now that the land they’re fighting over is next to useless for the better part of a decade anyway. Even so, I’d be surprised if Putin agreed to anything this side of the American elections. Even if he was up for a deal he’d want to give Trump the credit. Regardless, we’ve been here before a hundred times with rumoured peace deals. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Ian Hislop just went to town on her on HIGNFY. So much so that I wondered whether the slander lawyers would be rubbing their hands together.

What I would say is: If you’re worried about the first paragraph, take solace in the middle and last paragraphs.

I think there were quite a few reasons why we didn’t get any public points last night and this is definitely one of them. Worth noting in contrast that the winner literally sang about being non-binary but reflected more on the emotion of the experience. Plus of course a catchy song, a dynamic top range and simple but inventive staging.

Unfortunately I think there’s an element of truth in that. It was certainly the moment beyond everything where I completely fell out with the party.

Yeah, she had literally nothing going for her, which made her election at the hands of the Conservative Party members all the more baffling.

I guess the question there is whether this is something where someone can train their mind away from such impulses. Mental training is certainly possible in some situations (eg CBT) but also certainly not in others (eg sexuality). I don’t know where this falls.

I’m certain you are in a minority but I agree.

Wow. He’s taking it well then.

“Whilst in the gents” feels like it needs some elaboration here?

I’m calling 9th minute. Play is paused, Vardy wanders over to the dugout and is handed a microphone…

The only correct answer here is Andy King.

It pleases the Rwandan government. They get bags upon bags of easy money for this.

$61bn aid bill for Ukraine passed by the House in America. Thank f**k for that.

Are you for or against? In general I don’t like change in football, but I can get on board with this. Even then though, I don’t care that much.

What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?
Dunge replied to LeicesterBran's topic in Music and Gaming
The music’s one of the things I love about 7. One of the great joys in the remakes has been finding the music of the original enhanced and composed again. Plus the You Are Not Alone track from 9 that just seems to come out of nowhere yet is iconic. -

I know someone who would agree with you on 8. I loved it at the time, although I’d put it about level with 9 and 10 these days. 7 remains the undisputed king for me though. I played 16, it was very adult and had some very different and serious themes. Certainly it’s the best new one in ages. I didn’t really enjoy the gameplay but the voice acting was very strong.
