  1. I want to see a Man City win. 1-0 to them is the result which best suits us.
  2. Enjoying this thread even though it brings back some painful memories. In went to most of the games home and away in the 1990/91 season for instance and there were some seriously demoralising and traumatic defeats that season but in the end it didn't matter because we stayed up on the last day. I suppose the single most humiliating defeat I've seen was losing 5-1 at Cambridge in 1991 but that didn't matter when we got revenge in the play-off semi final a few months later and beat them 5-0. I was at the F.A. Cup match at Filbert Street against Harlow in 1979 and that was bad but it was only a draw. I don't know how many went to the replay when we did lose but that can't have been more than a few hundred, and that was forty years ago now. I was only a kid back then. If I had to pick a defeat which really think damaged the club and set us back years it would be the 1-2 defeat to Wycombe in the Cup in 2001, but I wasn't at that game. So for sheer mediocrity and crapness for a game I attended, I will choose a 3-1 defeat away at Plymouth in October or November 1988. It was one of the worst performances of the David Pleat regime, played on a Tuesday night in the pouring rain. I only went because I was at Exeter University at the time so it was only a half hour training journey for me and a chance to go to another ground. But there were probably no more than about 50 away supporters on the terrace that night and we were all looking at each other asking what the hell are we doing here? I remember talking to a couple of blokes who had come from London and didn't expect to get home until 2 in the morning and the supporters who'd come from Leicester itself faced a longer journey home. I wonder if anyone who reads this was at that match.
  3. The 3 best City goalies I've seen in 40 plus years are Mark Wellington, Kevin Poole and Kaspar. Wallington more than any other player (including Keith Weller and Frank Worthington) was the reason Leicester survived as long as we did in Div I in the 70s. He was worth 10 points a season, under 2 points for a win. Poole was pound for pound the best value keeper we've ever had. Signed in 1991 for about £35,000 I seem to recall from Port Vale. But Kaspar was ever-present when we won the PL, plus all the things he's done for us before and since. He's got to be our best ever keeper. Not bad for a club that's had Banks and Shilton on the books. Incidentally, the best single performance I remember from a City keeper was Gavin Ward in the 1994 Play Off semi final away to Tranmere. He made world class save after world class save in a 0-0 draw and we squeaked through 2-1 in the home leg and played a crucial part in the win over Derby too.
  4. Some fascinating footage there. I remember the European Cups of the 70s and 80s when English teams dominated the competition and did well in the UEFA Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup. It's worth observing that back then you only played 3 knockout rounds to reach the final, so to win it you only played 7 games as opposed to the 13 which it now takes to win the CL. Also, because only the league champions entered, you could win it without ever meeting a big club. If you look at who Liverpool, Forest and Villa actually played in the seasons when they won the EC, you'll find they were playing teams in the quarters and semis who never even get near the group stage these days. That's not to belittle what they achieved, but it's surprising that Forest were able to win it 2 years running without ever meeting Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter, Juventus, Bayern Munich. Mind you, it's still possible for us to reach the final without playing any of them either.
  5. I bet Steve Walsh did.
  6. Over the last year we have played 41 league games against a total of 21 different clubs. Only 1 club, Arsenal, have taken more points from us than we have from them. 4 clubs, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bournemouth, have taken the same number of points from us as we have from them. Of the remaining 16 clubs, we have a superior record of points taken, and 9 of those haven't taken a single point from us in that time.
  7. Is this the first time we've got into double figures in the home wins and away wins columns in a top-flight season?
  8. I think it will be found that both Burnley and Wolves have won the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Division titles during their histories, and they are the only clubs to have won leagues at all 4 levels. It's not something we want to get involved in though because to compete we would have to suffer 3 relegations down the ladder to the bottom rung. My crazy stat is that we've now lost only 2 away games in the last 12 months.
  9. Even if we'd lost all our home matches this season and transferred the points to the teams we've beaten and drawn with, we still we wouldn't be in the relegation zone.
  10. The fact that if you type ''can lei'' into Google Search, the top entry is ''can leicester win the premiership''.
  11. A reservoir in mid Wales called Llyn Brianne. Miles from anywhere and difficult to reach but worth it.
  12. Hello everyone. Exiled LCFC supporter now living in deepest, darkest West Wales. First match was in the 1975/6 season as a young child. Supported the club ever since. A veteran of the late 70s and 80s mediocrity and the resurgence of our our club under Brian Little and MoN in the 90s. Delighted that we are on the verge of a return to the top flight after our longest ever absence from it. Was at the Burnley game on Saturday. My first match for over 10 years I'm ashamed to admit. I'd be interested to know if there are any other LCFC supporters in the Ceredigion/Powys region of Wales. I can't be the only one , surely?
