Everything's been said to my Mum - and sadly, I won't get the chance to do the same with Dad.... he's a nice enough guy, we just don't have a true bond, and he really gave me very little to learn or positive influences, one of the reasons my emotional life has never really functioned in a healthy way up until now.

I'm functioning but I know I'm dealing with a lot alongside my own personal patterns - both my parents seem to have very much begun the end of their lives, if that makes sense, and I am beginning to grieve them both before their minds go - I never thought I'd care about it but I find their slow demise very difficult.

I'm going to try and be kind here. I suspect many of them, if not all, have had unpleasant and intimidating lives up until this point. Seriously though, man, who would choose the street over a home, particularly in this weather? If you really think that, you're a far braver man....

Good for you that you did something. I think a lot of people possibly just feel helpless or ill equipped to know what to do, but I'm sure you're right that some just probably judge.

Driven down the M1 today to Leicester. It's fairly grim and grey and foggy. And of course there are lots of people sitting in the middle of the motorway with no rear lights on, just occupying space.

I'm not sure of the veracity of your stated position about higher proportions of over 50s... How do you know, where are the statistics for that? None of us knows how it is to be in anybody else's away end. However, I agree otherwise. I barely get to go now because of the ticketing situation. As I said earlier, the issue of the difficulty of support, atmosphere and demographics is complicated, and I've said before that until the club pulls its finger out and is braver about not just taking the comfortable income, nothing is going to change.

Point taken, but I think I was using his post as a perfect example of someone finding any rod to beat the current team/manager/situation with.

I'm going to state the bloody obvious here, but those of us that are 50+ were young once and are still quite willing to support the team vocally - so calling out the older demographic is pretty foolish, not least because those that are currently younger will also be 50+ one day - if they're lucky. The issue is rather more complicated than one might care to think.

It is ironic that we are the MOST predictable team in the division for results, alongside...... Sheff Weds.
