It doesn’t matter whether Ayew starts or comes on, he plays the same way. It feels like being a striker in the box is an afterthought for him. His instincts is to hog the ball or cheat. Not great if you are starting the game or chasing. We are chasing more times than leading so his often repeated “skill set” is of little use. A poor tactical choice from Marti is keeping Ayew on all game and watching him become even lazier because he’s battered. I can’t wait till we see the back of him. He causes problems all over the pitch. He would rather see an attack break down than pass to a player or shoot when he has a chance. His two goals of late have came from him hanging in the box and not being involved in the build up.

All Ayew needs to do is goal hang. He doesn’t need to play left wing, he doesn’t need to drop as deep as Skipp, he just needs to press and be in the box. He can’t help his instincts and has to play his greedy, cheating style, then every so often scores when he is actually in the box. It’s not even the lack of goals that is most annoying but how much he stinks out attacks from other parts of the pitch. Ayew is probably the most experienced and high profile player Marti has worked with. He can’t coach and influence kids at the start of their career, let alone seniors.

Something seems wrong with Ricardo, not just his legs. He seems reluctant to drive play forwards and passes back more than Thomas. Even when high up and involved in an attack, he dithers and sends the ball back rather than just the whip the ball in. A static Abdul doesn’t help. He should be using his experience and being the captain to speak up to Marti that his tactics are crap. He can offer simple pass and moves that JJ and Fatawu should be splitting these teams apart. Even without is legs we know he is better than what we are seeing.

Absolute dross. The style of the two goals should be bread and butter for this team, not attempted once, 90 minutes apart. Our wingers seem to want to play themselves into trouble to escape it with tricks rather than break away to create a chance. Then Mav crosses at the last minute after constantly running into players and passing backwards. Frustrating to watch, if he just did the basics his numbers would be higher, along with his confidence and usefulness to the team. Monga got zero help all game, Ayew was shouting at him, drifting into his area and not passing when he was free but waiting till he was marked. Hamza/Thomas wont help the wingers, if they pass back to the LB they always send it backwards rather than to play them back in. Monga will be amazing once he’s woking with a real manager and players. Our wingers have zero instants to run forward into space to receive the ball and the fullbacks don’t look to play them back in so who is at fault for attacks breaking down so easily, that’s drilled into them or not being corrected by the manager. It’s strange that a modern day CB has such poor passing abilities. Okoli can only hit the ball at a slow/medium pace no matter the distance. He is one pass away from a counter. He always lets the ball roll too far away from him so he has to wind back to kick it and allows the forwards to apply pressure. He can’t seem to pass on the front foot and even poorer when he’s moving. So between the defence we have a keeper who won’t throw the ball quickly, fullbacks who won’t cross the halfway line and pass the ball, instead choosing sideways, a cb who can’t pass and another who walks to the halfway line and then bombs forward to create something but is out of position. Things can be fixed with a manager and staff with ideas and motivation.

This is annoying to watch. I genuinely don’t know if he can throw the ball. He starts to move forwards, you can see a player break and then something happens within himself and he stops. Then we lose that momentum and whoever is the LCB has to dictate the slow sideways pace, Ricardo passes backwards and they panic until Jakob boots it back to the opposition.

I want the points as it will help when the deduction comes but this shouldn't be a reason to keep Marti. It has been dross every week, even the two rare 45s we looked good.

Wingers remember to cross and be in the box to shoot on target after 94 mins.

Ignore his terrible passing but notice a few headers.

Mavadidi showing why he's boring and annoying to watch. Won't pass forwards, won't run into space to receive the ball, will run into a player.

Zero tactics and attacking play built around his talent. The same for all our attackers. you can see the attackers slow down as soon as they get the ball, they actively avoid space, apart from JJ but I don't class him the same. You would think as a player you would know this is dross and work something out between you.

I don't blame Monga, he is a victim of the dross manager and the players around him. He looks like a mix of all the greedy idiots but once he has a good coach, players around him and actually gets taught how to play in a team he will be amazing. if they pass and move, they don't have to try and skin a player as he's already beat and they are on the front foot. Simple, we get battered by it eery game. Ayew, Mav and Fatawu choose to be lazy and greedy. Ayew seems to want to get involved with the play in other peoples areas, hogs the ball and clutters the area. All it takes is a boring, selfish backpass to kill any play.

I hate all our wingers. All wax no wick. They counter us by passing the ball into space and running into it. We break for a counter and Fatawu stops to get the ball to his feet.

I agree. It doesn’t look like a fitness issue, more like apathy and no direction from the manager.

And they always pass behind the winger so they end up stopping any momentum. Fatawu again had a chance to run on space on the overlap but he always stands still behind the plate with the ball. It’s like he’s forgotten during his injury season what worked and what he was good at. Now he’s boring, greedy and lazy. Monga is fighting a losing battle because he gets the ball too slowly and wants to play like his mates filming it for IG. We scored by passing quickly and moving into space.

Ayew keeps dropping deep and wanting the ball to his feet with back to goal. Then when they don’t pass to him we have no one near the goal. He just need to goal hang and stay away from the wings.

I preferred Nelson as a player when he was on the right. Now he’s in the unlikeable JV walking football and playing everything backwards and slow role. I can’t wait to see him under a better manager/team.

Ayew passing the ball there behind Monga has to stop and turn around. Why can’t the ever play it into the space ahead.

Most of that was Mav and Ayew running on the left wing to not pass the ball.

Maybe they need to play around the back, ignore passes, turn back and pass sideways slowly more often. Jakob is scared to throw the ball out quickly.

Mongadidi. I got hammered at the start of the season by saying he needed better players and coaches around him. It looks like he’s just been left to his own devices by the coaching staff and poor tactics.

amazing what a team that passes and moves together can do. Seeing goals like this is more annoying as they are more than capable to produce when they try. Let’s hope Marti doesn’t get them to sit back or they switch their brain off. Hamza and Okoli not looking great with the ball, so let’s give it to them to play out.

He won't have to worry about players crossing or threading balls to him to run onto unless we get another manager. If he can be the anti Ayew hold up player to bring others forward then he will be an instant improvement. This club has an issue with short term thinking that means we get stuck with dross. Same as mine. He will walk like he's got 4 wooden legs, with a face like he's been licking piss until we get near a place he remembers he can get a biscuit. Exactly like Ayew when he dives and the ref doesn't give him the foul, then the ball goes by him he pricks his ears and the hobble disappears.

If Marti actually drilled into Ayew that he needs to be hanging around the goal area, not playing left wing and then not passing the ball as well as encouraging support and direct threats. The things that he allows Ayew to get away every game with are things that no team needs at the start, then if we need his cheating it's too late and he can't be bothered. Ayew should be goal hanging, Reid floating around and JJ, Ricardo and Fatawu arriving late. We've scored a few goals like that and had some passages of play that should be bread and butter, usually when chasing and the game is over. The next week it resets back to Marti's non threatening attacks.
