I doubt it. I don't see any manager who gets us relegated being in charge next year. The board will need to blame someone and letting the manager stay on would suggest that they are taking the blame... don't see that happening.

Mavididi and Fatawu are the interesting ones for me. I think Mavididi will play inside as an attacker as either one of the inside forwards in his 3421 or an out and out striker in his 3412. Whilst Fatawu may play as a wingback in those systems. He has proven that he doesn't mind to play wingers in this position in the past and I feel it's more suited to Fatawu than inside forward.

I think we've delayed this till after the fixture announcement to avoid the absolute certainty of Chelsea away on the opening day!

You're not wrong but I think the nature of the PL is such that you are generally going to have a rough run of games at some point. Not having it at the start or end of the season is probably as much as you can ask for. Particularly the start of the season. If we got a tough run of games in the first 3 months with us likely to be starting the season a few games behind, it could have been disastrous for a new manager coming in. With this, how it is, we should be able to get back into positive points and hopefully get a bit of momentum going before that rough patch hits. Then after it, we can assess where we are before having a right go in the last month with some winnable 6 pointers.

On reflection, I'm quite happy with the fixtures. A concern I had was us potentially starting the season 6/9 points behind and having a nightmare start fixture wise that would put massive amounts of pressure on the new manager. Only playing 2 of the top 6 in the first 3 months will potentially give the new man the chance to get a bit of momentum before the tough runs of games come.

Can't really grumble... Monday night first game, and Liverpool/Man City Xmas fixtures isn't ideal but as a trade off for that run in, I'd take it all day long. That's potentially a winnable 12 points against teams that are likely to be around us. That's huge.
