People are always going to disagree in how something gets done, but I think it's the fact that something does get done which is important here. We have to walk the walk, if we are to have credibility in persuading others to change as well. If we have the target date then we have something to aim for and check against on the way to that date. If we don't, we drift, able to throttle back on schemes and projects as suits. Imo, successive governments like the big grandiose announcements of large projects which tend to fall away, when we could be fixing the things that have real world impact immediately like loft and cavity wall insulation, heat pump migration and having smart meters that are actually smart regardless of the supplier. These are things that tangible in the everyday to people. Fix the things that they can see and touch and you have them onboard for the larger ambitious stuff.

Large fire at NW Ldn electricity sub station. Up to 100 firefighters on scene https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2wvz4pjryo

They did publish, but then unpublished it, so it's out there, but not, if you weren't quick enough. One might say that the scientific method is being stymied by politics and funding removal at many institutions.

The perp had already been deported in 2013, remind who was the US President in power at that time? The perp was up on domestic battery charges and a warrant issued for arrest. The judge arbitrarily decided to let him out of a side door whilst distracting several officers that were trying to enforce a warrant for arrest. Every case in law is judged on the merits of it's own particulars. Laws themselves are crafted without emotion. Stripping away the political inferences in the article and taking just the facts as expressed in that article, do you think the judge should have been arrested for aiding the escape of a wanted man?
-
Reading the article, the judge sure looks to have overstepped the law. Strip away the emotion of Dem Vs Rep and just apply the law leaves her with a lot of explaining to do

I disagree. It's a long game, I've always felt that Russia is the hare and Ukraine is the tortoise in this one.

Trump doesn't seem to understand that his EO's can all be reversed by the next President, immediately, in the same way he created them. If he made the changes via the Senate and Congress it would be a lot harder for the next President to undo whatever Act is passed.

Zelensky cannot constitutionally cede any Ukrainian land without the approval of parliament, so even if he did want to "do it for himself", he could not. Trump and Co. do not seem to understand this based on their current rhetoric tonight.

Possibly, but I also think events will just move this off the radar quite quickly. Today's newspaper headlines is tomorrow's fish and chip wrapping.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this year, due to proximity of Easter, St George's day is on the 28th April. Save your powder for then. 😉https://www.stgeorgesholiday.com/when-st-georges-day-2023/ for the religious zealots that is..

Amazing that proper background checks are not being conducted isn't it... And from the one establishment entity that you would hope should be rather good at it

Think you're a bit quick to be making that call. Why not try again in a week's time.

Jon... I'm sweating, thinking where those fingers have been...let me sniff after you

What Jon?..my secret? ..Oil of Ulay.

If you think that is positive, do not post on a 'bad' day.

No, I meant natural ebb and flow as in starvation, dehydration, disease. Not the man-made wars, governments and forced deportation, they are not natural, more interventional in act. SK may well be over, but there will come a point where the pendulum will swing back the other way and the population will balance out there, perhaps arriving at a smaller number. I still think the population as a whole will decline, there will be a 'great die off' that will be identified by historians many years after it occurs. The Earth's population is circa 8.1 billions (2023) and the UN scientific consensus from 2012/3 had the carrying number at 8 billions, lower depending upon resources allocation and which scientist you asked. So, we're overpopulated and the gap is increasing. Technology or better resource management and sharing are the areas identified as being able to increase the carrying number. The first is taking its time to appear, the other two are very optimistic. The logical action would be to reduce the population gently over time through education and support, both in countries where the birth rate is high, but also in countries where it is low, but more affluent so that they would be open to sharing some of that affluence understanding that it benefits us all in the long term.

Any pics?

Do we really want more children? Why not let the natural ebb and flow work it's way through? It would help with resources consumption and attribution over time.

Watching Succession. Watched the Kendall rap scene for Logan 50yr celebration. That guy has guts.

Not willingly, but I think if they go off on their agenda then the market might be quick to correct them. Certainly quicker than is happening in the US where Trump is being coralled back into line like a bull with a nose ring. And once, they've been corrected, they'll need to look for savings to try and show they can be trusted and they've heard the message. Similar to how Labour have been forced into a Truss-light way to reform but always with an eye to not scaring the horses( the market). Thus annoying their core base AND trying to keep the red-wall voters onside.
-
really?? After the events of the last 3 months?
-
We need migration... desperately, if we're even going to try and maintain some sort of standard of living to now. If Reform do get into power, it'll most likely be as a coalition so they may have to temper some of their policies. IDK the make up of that party's base but removing the triple pension lock and removing low wage subsidy benefits has to be a goal of any incoming party of the next government

So I can understand a little more.. Are you referring to harassment via police mis-identifying cis women? Or by the UK populace as a whole?

It gets better It's a really exciting time to be alive and see this unfolding. I enjoy Anton's explanations and he also contributes to Universe Today which is also a great source of info you often hear before the MSM mention it
