He's already offered buy-outs to the CIA and FBL employees that are 'not with him' so I doubt they'd do anything like that... more like get a nice payoff and then do 'contract consultancy' at higher $$$s using all the contacts they have back in the TLA's

Back in 2024, you could Google "Project 2025" and see it unfolding. Trump did say in the run-up to the Election that he knew who he could trust, who he could not and where they needed to make changes asap. He obviously did learn a few things in his first term which he is applying with relish now.

Hasn't that always been the case... or rather over in the shadier areas of a pub or the car park... When I used to work in the Blaby Co-Op we had ppl coming in nicking bacon and the sozzies fairly regularly who we then saw nipping into the Egyptian Queen with a bag over their shoulder. It often got written off as Wastage, police not interested unless you had the tea leaf held on site... and this was in the late 80's and 90's.

Number stations. Some are still going.

This is an interesting play on a macro level. To the (Rep) mind, they are draining the swamp and once that's gone, where will the leeches go and what will they do? The Gaza comment... That has Netanyahu's fingerprints all over it, which is no surprise as the Israeli's had the bulldozers into the North of Gaza and redeveloping seafront areas within weeks of the start of the bombing campaign. We will truly live in interesting times 😞

I disagree. I think you can take both approaches, lobby and educate where you can, but prepare now for coming changes - you still need to be around to continue lobbying in the future. I think we'll need to 'weather the storm' for the next few decades at least, Trump policies will kick in... it'll then take time for them to be rescinded ( and that's assuming a Democrat gets in next term) so you have effectively lost a decade right there.. probably even longer the way they are stacking the science institutions at present. And that's not even considering the two highest populated countries at present. You maintain your admirable refrain by all means, but I'll be more focused with getting people to that new future, whatever it may be and if we need to fudge it then I'm prepared to accept that.

I think we are way past that aspiration and with the great orange one's "Drill baby, drill!" attitude and China not really slowing down on production then it is better to consider adaptation and mitigation. I know others will disagree, but a purist 'stop it all now' stance seems a bit King Canute-like in the face of the reality of what is happening now by other countries.

Been following the AMOC story for about a year now and it finally seems to be getting some attention in the mainstream. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn938ze4yyeo

Trump would never admit to being wrong, but that's also the case of the Office of President anyway. They have either been mis-advised or the facts at that time were different. Someone will carry the can. It's all about protecting the integrity of that Office, and indeed Offices of State in other countries employ the same tactics. As for Trump himself, I am surprised you bothered to ask the question. You could have just cut that out and made your statement as there is nothing wrong in it.

@leicsmac coming from behind the sun, and polar orbits are our weaknesses for spotting. @Trumpet to an extent yes, heavy metal ore based asteroids have greater mass per volume and would stay together in a larger piece for longer. Although, it kinda depends on the size as well...over a certain size, it's pretty much game over anyway.

That's handy. Msybe be careful of trusting the numbers as they're best guesses based on known detections?

Why bother causing fragments that could potentially make the problem worse when could either paint it or attach a tether and let physics do the hard work for us

Arrival is probably the most accurate imo. The Abyss is a good watch if you are looking for something not set in space but equally thought provoking and relevant to these times.

Excellent. Almost of EuroTrash quality. Good find and some good debate

Apollo happened. The Chinese and Indian Space organisations have even taken photos of the landing sites, and you can see the rover, the flag and footprints.. Those two countries have no vested interests in propagating the US version of events, yet they produce evidence that supports the historical record. No one went back for ages because it was not economically viable to do so... It is becoming so now, hence the revived interest. The Van Allen belts protect us from massive doses of radiation during solar storms, but plenty of radiation still gets through...hence the nice suntan, solar energy etc.. Being in space is not so bad for radiation even outside the belts. All Apollo 11 astronauts have lived long lives with Aldrin still going. As long you have some shielding if a Solar storm rises then you can be well protected...stored water can be a great barrier without needing inches of lead... As ever it depends upon the type of radiation coming at you.

They (Politicians and the civil service) really need to get The Green Book overhauled if this big white elephant project mentality is to have a chance of being eradicated

How many..? Because you've just demonstrated the points made in two of the episodes around Materialist science and using old papers to prove a point. ☺️ But yeah, it does get a bit extra on some points like the Speller culture.. can't help thinking there is something in it though... You only need one white crow right..?!
