Played his teams 14 times, we've won 4, drew 4 and lost 6. Given we were superior to his sides for the majority of that time it isn't a great record you're right.
-
Inevitable a big club were going to take him first, class above a lot of promising young talents that come through. I imagine the Odegaard factor is at play here too.
-
Probably end up with Ryan Kent
-
Not his comments but his agents. The quotes that came direct from the player backed up what was reported by Percy and that he spoke with Cooper and LCFC several times and we were desperate to land him but think he was swayed by the lure of Roma. Things might be different now, especially if once again we make it clear how much we want to build our team around him. Facundo isn't ours.

£6m would be £1.25m on PSR for 24/25 which is less than a quarter the boost we've got from selling Cannon. I'd have liked to see us get both Kone and Aasgaard (gone for £3m) as they cost absolutely nothing on PSR and if we go down we've got two players we'd see as perfect signings in the wake of potential transfer embargo.

Soule on loan

Bang on. I get Akpom is more physical and can hold the ball up but I actually view him as a Iheanacho type striker who's a support striker than a pure number 9 which only solves half our problem unless we use him alongside Vardy or Daka. He isn't the all round striker I think we need that can press from the front, hold the ball up, attack crosses, quick and a finisher. I realise it's hard to get all of that packaged in one player but the are in existence and once again the art is in the discovery of such talent.

Agreed. He'd be a buy now and leave at Wycombe for the rest of the season.

In which case @Lineker's Lugs any news pal?
-
Similar career trajectory as Sammie Szmodics. There's always a big risk with a player with only 1 good season in 10+ years at an inferior level. I'm all about us taking risks but with high reward. This is not that.
-
If Akpom is the best our recruitment team can come up with then I'll double down even more on my opinion of Glover and those running our football club. I get thst it's a difficult window to operate in and often January signings are short term decisions but we need to recruit a handful of players in this next week that fit in to the long term future of this club. There's a big risk we still go down and who knows whether we get points deductions and a transfer embargo but good recruitment set ups identify up and coming players that provide the flexibility should the worst happen. I'm bored of reading we've got limited finances when we seldom make any value for money signings from leagues such as Japan, South America, Sweden and Norway etc. So many innovative and well ran clubs in other European leagues operate on a budget less than ours and would wipe the floor with us if we played them. We've fell apart this last 3-4 years and it's so sad to watch.

The Cannon sale generates a potential £10-15m purchase but regardless it was always likely we needed a June sale to prevent any possibility of a PSR breach. Our main concern is trying to stay up, spending £20-30m shouldn't be too much of a challenge to meet.

Would have worked with Brian Barry-Murphy as well
-
Makes absolutely no sense unless we're moving one of Justin or Ricardo on.
-
@CosbehFox weren't you raving about him to me a while ago?
-
Not only would this be a major risk with the wages likely to be that of two players we could look to bring in, he's now a central midfielder. We don't need one of those. His days as a right winger helping out defensively relentlessly are long gone.
-
Would only be interested if this is a multi year deal on £150k a week, we don't just need maximum PL experience, we need it locked down for several years as well.

Recording in a minute Bob -
I rate 3-4 of our signings whilst he's been here but I don't rate his track record as a whole both here and certainly not at other clubs. We don't know the finer workings but I don't see an obvious pattern in our recruitment strategy and there's leagues we continue to ignore. Possibly not his ultimate responsibility as he might be set parameters in which to do his work but overall I think he's more Congerton than Walsh or Macia.
-
Sorry, ain't having Glover one bit. Where's he ever been successful at? Some of the clubs he's been at have plummeted massively an'all.
-
Exactly, same as what we had with Fatawu.

Any Grappa at the end? -
I've seen this Leicester career trajectory before as we approach his final year. Becoming an integral player in the spine of our team. Sharpen up the positional play when we lose the ball and he is such an asset. Seldom loses the ball himself and his passing ability is extremely underrated.

I found the bit about Brian Barry-Murphy quite interesting. Wondered where we might go post Ruud whether we're in a good place or a bad place and sense he might be an option. He's probably earnt another go in the lower leagues and glad we've got a few coaches that are club employed but you have to strike a balance. Find it really unusual that he's literally brought just one coach with him.
