One the theme of Australia, I think we should nickname Coady, Conor Coadfish after Toadfish from Neighbours.

Had a few weeks off due to work, holiday and being too busy. He'll be back soon. -
I want more from him and I think we'll eventually get it. He's missed two chances in two games that were what Mahrez went from missing in his first 1.5 seasons here to bludgeoning week in, week out. He is the one player in this squad that if Maresca and his coaches are as good as we think they are, will work tirelessly to hone his technique and end product.

We will need to weigh up the Premier League tax and less time to bed new players in that we wait to sign in the summer rather than a few targets in January. Will all depend on the next 6 weeks. If we go on another strong run, and are approaching 60 points then we could take calculated risks on a couple. The value of getting players like Sebastian Nanasi in after their season has finished and 6 months to get used to us before trying to do it in the summer would be a deal I'd be looking at. Likewise Faris Moumbagna from Bodo/Glimt.

Anyone else been re-watching Tielemans screamer again today? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 -
I like him, but I'm still not convinced he's a winger. Not one who's excellent in 1 v 1's and with absolutely no support from full backs in this system, it can make for disrupted patterns. He checks back too much, which is something we see with James Justin frequently and it can be the difference between having the opposition stretched or able to nullify our threat. He is excellent at attacking the box though, would have loved that Mavididi cross in the 2nd half to have been McAteer attacking it rather than Fatawu.

Eiran Cashin at Derby could be a very interesting back up to Callum Doyle. Souttar is bound to move on so another CB who can play that LCB role is essential.

Go and read any associated threads in December 2019 in the couple of games before the draw vs Norwich and then the hammering vs Liverpool and Man City. Would be very similar.

Balague is one of the most biased and one sided people when it comes to Enzo Maresca.

They won't all play every game, very few players do.

It was going to tribunal due to Liverpool's perceived derisory offers, and not seen anything announced yet. -

He's done very well there so far. They are raving about him. -
My main criticism of him this season is he's not had that much involvement. But missed some glorious chances in recent weeks. Looks like he can't be arsed.
-
We don't miss his finishing. He's another woeful player when it comes to squandering chances, see his last game vs Swansea where he missed two sitters. We miss his pressing though and he's played some intelligent passes around the box thst has helped create chances, not that I'd back any of our players to take them currently.
-
The main reason he deserves some minutes is because as a team we have an inability to press. This has really shocked me under Maresca. I was led to believe that we'd press relentlessly as a team but we don't, certainly not when Iheanacho is playing. We can talk all about different plans etc but it's more just subtle changes that can present the opposition with more to deal with that isn't an unreasonable ask. Daka's influence has reduced to very little last season, after an ok start. He came here full of confidence and that has drained away from him. However, none of us have seen him at this level, I find it incredulous he'd not be more than good enough but then again I was convinced Iheanacho would be devastating and he's been nothing more than OK. Whether that's a lack of motivation, perhaps Daka's at risk of that too. We read between the lines he didn't want to be here and/or Maresca doesn't want him but neither does Praet and Maresca will pick him if he's ever fit again and persist with Iheanacho who's free wheeling at the minute.

Considering we are supposed to be so superior at this level, you go through the team and there's an ever increasing lack of goals scored. Our strikers don't score enough for a team that has broken records in the opening third of the season. Our wingers don't score enough goals either by the looks of it, although that might be a little harsh on Kasey. But expecting our wingers to always go 1 v 1 or often 1 v 2 and get in to consistent scoring situations is unreasonable. Maresca is clearly a man with a plan and its somewhat different to the run of the mill modern manager but I've got my concerns about this long term, it needs fine tuning, certainly at a higher level. But right now, if a team with the talent we have can't score goals at the frequency a high flying team should, then that's a worry.
-
But again, there's sustained and prolonged unrivalled success that you'd have to be certified insane to do so. We've achieved absolutely nothing so far, except a record breaking opening third of the season. The calm and considered approach would be that there's clearly warning signs we are starting to toil and teams are gaining confidence that its not a forgone conclusion we score and win every game. It shouldn't be panic stations yet but I really hope those involved on the football side of the football club don't just assume our dominance is untouchable.
-
It's a very good point about the lack of support in those running on, it means there's so little space to open teams up. Relying on elite 1 v 1 dribbling to expose a team. Where have the cut backs in to the box gone? Again, not enough ability to move the opposition to create such opportunities.
-
He's got his limitations, I can accept that and knew he did from the off. His ability at this level should and largely is absolutely fine. What I struggle with is his mentality. I don't think he's got the bloody mindedness to play through bad games. His head had well and truly gone 2nd half. He was in bits, he didn't want the ball. He wasted so many promising openings and even a very brief open goal to roll the ball in to. Maresca said they worked with him all the last international break and yet the last chunk of games he's looked less and less confident. I had hoped his deflected goal and assist vs QPR might have given him a boost. But from having a frustrating night vs Leeds where those around him possibly didn't help him in the positions he'd got in, to today, he looks shot. If Maresca is as good as we think he is then it's players like Mavididi that he turns in to dynamite at this level. The jury is out.

They have several years of unrivalled proven success to nullify the frustrations. But yes, I'd expect some would react quite badly to two defeats.
