  1. Small world! Can you remember the outdoor swimming pool at Ullesthorpe Court? Happy days indeed
  2. I haven't played Ullesthorpe since 2006 mate. When I was junior there in the early/mid 80's is was a slightly different layout so I was interested to see the changes they made. I always enjoyed playing there and have many fond memories as a youth learning the game. I've lived down south for the last 25 years but when I go back to see my old man we play at Lutterworth where he's a member. Used to play a bit at Kilworth Springs, Cosby, and Whetstone too back in the day
  3. I went to school with Anders and we were both juniors at Ullesthorpe GC together. My old man bought a new set of Ping clubs off him last year. Excellent coach as you say.
  4. The world needs more Mark Carney's in leadership positions. Makes you proud to be a Canadian
  5. Dissapointing that Season 4 of Full Swing will only be 4 episodes compared to 7/8 episodes for Seasons 1-3. Especially with it being a Ryder Cup year.
  6. He gets asked this a lot and his answer is always that he thinks he's a much more complete player now than he was 15 years ago. He's much more adaptable to different courses and conditions now and has a chance pretty much everywhere he tees it up. Since 2014 he's had 22 top 10's in majors and been runner up 4 times. He really should have won the Masters in '14, The Open in '22 and the US Open in '24 so could easily be sat on 9 majors right now. It is strange how there is such a gap between his 4th and 5th major but during that time he's won multiple big tournaments, Fed Ex cups, and Race to Dubai's, and he's consistantly been in the worlds top 5. It's just the majors that have eluded him. He's still hitting it further than most, his wedge game has massivley improved, and his putting is much more reliable these days. He's probably got 40 more attempts at majors if he stays fit I can see him winning maybe 10% of those and ending up on 10 majors which would put him behind only Jack and Tiger as the GOAT.
  7. I love him too but he's nearly 83 years old and should be long retired really. He's like the Murray Walker of golf.
  8. Enjoy. I went to Birkdale in '91 when Ian Baker Finch won. Great Open venue. P.S. Would really love Tommy to win this on his doorstep
  9. You can bet your ass he'll be working his nuts off to be the first ever to do the three-peat
  10. We are witnessing history. One more major for Rory to join the greats of the game like Vardon, Snead, Sarazon, Palmer and Jones. Two more to join Tom Watson and three more to equal Player and Hogan. I think he's got four more in him to reach double figures. A generational talent and icon of the game.
  11. Terrible camera work there. With all the mod cons they still can't figure out where his second shot went.
  12. Kin el Rory. You've bought a six and possible playoff into play with that drive up the last.
  13. Scottie will probably birdie two out the last three to finish -12. Rory 'just' needs to par in from here.
  14. He's dead now so it doesn't matter
  15. Assume you're joking but if not, It means he's finished his round and shot 66
  16. Many, many times. Fuzzy Zealour in '79 and Danny Willett in '16 spring to mind. Happens more often in the Open where the weather is more suseptable to change for the worse.
  17. Pretty much all Malbon gear he wears is rank. I wouldn't mind but Day is a part owner and also involved in lots of the design.
  18. If I was a top golfer I wouldn't high/half five the crowd. The best they'd get is a fist bump off me. Who wants all the germs of the great unwashed on their hands?
  19. From the BBC last night: As McIlroy fought to maintain any sort of lead in the closing holes, it was striking how exhausted he had suddenly started to look. The bounce in his gait had gone, the speed of his stride had slowed. Was it just the physical demands of an undulating Augusta, or is there a mental fatigue which could be starting to take its toll? McIlroy arrived more than a week ago with a host of engagements to fulfil. Taking part in traditions like hosting Tuesday's Champions' Dinner are memorable experiences which no golfer would want to swap. But, with more interviews and more attention than ever before, the week has a very different feel which could eventually catch up with him. McIlroy certainly didn't think he needed to immediately switch off on Saturday, seeing as he was heading for more practice after his third round. "He looks absolutely knackered," was the blunt assessment of former Europe Solheim Cup player Trish Johnson, who is a BBC Radio 5 Live summariser at Augusta.
  20. Faldo is a crap commentator. Brilliant player, crap pundit.
  21. That's why we love him. Reminds me of Mickelson and Seve in their pomp. Totally unpredictable but utterly enthralling.
  22. Wouldn't put it past him to still pick up shots at 13 & 15 though. My guess is he'll still be leading by at least 2
  23. FFS Rory you never make it easy for yourself. Strap in for another emotional rollercoaster.
  24. Course record might be under threat today. Absolute birdie fest out there.
