  1. Brilliant front 9 from Scottie
  2. If Rory had won the Masters in 2011 when he should have done he'd have at least 5 green jackets by now
  3. Genius at work
  4. Bryson
  5. I want him to stamp on their necks and win by 10
  6. My only concern for Rory is that he'll run out of gas. He arrived at Augusta last Saturday and has had loads of media and other obligations to attend to. He's been flat out busy before the tournament even started. He looked knackered in the presser after his round yesterday and I fear it might all catch up with him by Sunday. It's a long hilly walk around ANGC and with temperatures reaching the 90's it' exhausting.
  7. The dream is very much alive
  8. For all his dominance, I really don't enjoy watching Scottie play golf. Face like a smacked arse most of the time and never really looks like he's enjoying himself. Little charisma, flat personality, quite boring.
  9. We have a 'three clubs and a putter' competition at our place each year. Most people select a 3 or 5 wood, 6 or 7 iron, and some sort of wedge. The winning score is always around 39-40 points and it's amazing how many still score 36+ points I often play with just half a set when it's carry only during winter and my scores rarely suffer that much. And Seve went round in level par with just a 5 iron when he was about 15 years old so maybe it's the way forward
  10. Any bird lovers on here? I need some advice please... I posted this about 3 months ago when 7 peacocks escaped from their owner who lives about half a mile from us across a field. Apparently they're rescue peacocks and the owner managed to round up five of them but two are still 'on the loose'. Despite many texts to the owners from me and other neighbours, they seem to have given up the ghost and now don't seem bothered about getting these last two back. Although they're not a big nuisance, they do shit all over our drives and walls and spend all day in and out of our gardens. I'm no expert but it looks like they've lost weight and I've no idea how they're eating and surviving. I rang the RSPCA who said unless they're injured, just leave them alone. We don't fancy appraoching them to try and capture/return them in case they get aggressive. Any suggestions or do we just continue to put up with them? Thanks,
  11. I've bought some rolls of fleece/netting blanket to put over the lawn after I've seeded it to stop the birds etc. No idea if it'll serve it's purpose but it was relatively inexpensive.
  12. I spent hours last week with a scarfiying rake getting rid of dead moss and thatch from the front lawn. By the end my back was fvcked so I invested in an electric scarifyer for £100 off Amazon. I went over what I'd already done with the rake and it still pulled out loads more. Then I spent more hours aerating with a manual t-handle, 3 spike tool. Think I might invest in those heavy duty spikes you strap on your boots instead or hire an electric aerator for next time. Nearly ready to overseed evrything now the soil temperature is rising. Can barely contain my excitement
  13. Such a class act
  14. Yeah, it's inevitable this years Masters will probably be a stinker. Either a wire to wire procession (probably Scottie again) or a LIV player wins (Rahm or Bryson) Obvs hops I'm wrong. Would love a Tommy, Fitz or Rose win but Rory again to tie Faldo, Mickelson and Trevino on 6 majors would be the dream
  15. Good luck in the ballot mate. Adare Manor will be the best RC ever. P.S. You could probably go to the Maters for a similar cost to going Thailand, just a thought.....
  16. I'm a big Penge fan but the only bet I'd put on him for the Masters is to make the cut on his debut. He's definately got the length off the tee to do well round there but his approach play and short game is way too inconsistant IMO. Really hope he proves me wrong but top 30-40 at best would be my guess.
  17. I've been to the Open five or six times and always believed it was the best major because of all the history etc. The crowds/atmoshphere is unique and the claret jug is revered around the world. I still love it, look forward to it every year, and watch it dawn til dusk each day. The US Open is unique because of the course difficulty so that's always interesting, but the PGA is no more than a glorified regular tour event event really. A poor fourth in the major rankings. I never really understood what all the fuss was about with the Masters but having now been (although only for a practice day and a few hours because it pissed down) I get it. There's just nothing else like it in golf from the perfection of the course, the stunning surroundings, the way they treat the 'patrons', the no phones policy, the exclusivity, and the fact it's held at the same couse each year so we know each hole inside out. Plus the fact it's the first major of the year means the anticipation levels are off the charts for every golf fan. But the Ryder Cup is a different animal all together. I've been twice in '89 and '02 and the atmosphere is like a cup final. I've never heard a roar like standing by the first green at the Belfry when Monty holed his birdie putt against Scott Hoch in the first singles match in '02. The crown was 20 deep all the way down the fairway and there must have been 10-15000 people on that hole alone. If I could only go to one more Open, Masters, or RC in my lifetime, I'd choose the Masters. It's like Disneyland for golf nuts and I'd emplore everyone to go if they ever get the chance. It's a rip off booking with a golf travel company but it's the only way unless you're lucky enough to win the ballott. Sell your car, your kidney, your kids if you have to, but you must go if you love golf.
  18. This'll get your juices flowing. As if I coudn't love Rory any more
  19. Fingers crossed for you mate. I saw the dermatologist about mine last week who asked me if there was history of skin cancer in the family. They took photo's of the lump and decided it needs cuting out so I've been put on the list with the Plastic Surgery Dept. It could be a few months and they said if it gets any bigger or starts to itch to ring them and they'll book be in as an emergency. I'm sure it's nothing but I'll be happy when it's removed.
  20. This time last year me and my old man were getting ready to fly to Charlotte for the Monday practice day at the Masters. I don't think I've ever been as excited as I was then and I would give just about anything in life to go back and do it again. It's the most magical place on earth.
  21. It's a truly outstanding documentary. (But I would say that as a golf sicko and Rory fan boy)
  22. Rory McIlroy 'The Masters Wait' documentary now available on Amazon Prime. That's my evenings TV sorted

    The Padel Topic!

Is Padel the same as Pickleball? If not, what's the difference?
  24. I don't see how that really benefits anyone. He should definitely be banned from driving and should be in therapy/rehab rather than jail imo. As far as the golf goes, he has plenty of purpose including his own foundation for teaching disadvantaged kids, part owner of the new TGL indoor league, designing new courses, coaching his son, new clothing line, full time on the PGA future comps comittee, numerous sponsorship and business ventures, possible next Ryder Cup Captain, and working tirelessly to get fit for the Masters. The real issue is that he's an addict. Not just addicted to golf but he's also admitted to being addicted to video games in the past. Back in 2010 he was addicted to shagging hookers in Las Vegas which he had to publically apologise for and now it seems he's addicted to painkillers to get over his numerous surgeries and injuries. Hard to seperate the performer from the person here. No doubt one of the greatest golfers who ever lived and still moves the needle, but as a bloke, he's a bit of a *****. (I partly blame his father who was Tiger's idol but a serial adulterer and a total cvnt by all accounts)
