DEPLOY THE CANNON!
-
Yeah to be fair, they have slowed the game down to try and prevent it being game over. But we are making some great chances... teams like Man City at their peak would destroy you in a quick spell, and our team is heavily based on that style of play. As a few people on here have said, we needed to be patient to wait for the team to get good at the style. We still have a long way to go. But we are balancing control of the game with chance creation and continuous sustained attacks... this is a truly deadly combination.
-
I've jokingly said we have activated third gear but I 100% mean it! Why? Look at our ability to sustain attacks. It's wave after wave, pressure on top of pressure. I am surprised we haven't got the 3rd and 4th yet... we now look capable of blowing teams away in a devastating 10-15 minute spell.

For all scouts watching Fatawu tonight:

I think we've played really well, despite the scoreline. Our ability to sustain attacks today has been magnificent! I have been really impressed by that aspect of our attacking play, because it's hard to do. Ndidi should have scored, we should have had a penalty, Daka should have hit the target. We are making chances. Unlike some of our previous games when we've struggled, this is more of the "might not be our night but we sure as hell are knocking on the door" type of feel to it. If we keep this up, we should turn this round! Come on Leicester!

Despite being behind, we are playing great. Abdul Fatawu has been totally unplayable!
-
Yeah it's sad to see. Based on his injury record, I don't see us signing him permanently, though January will be massive for him with Ndidi at AFCON. He may not start with Praet now back, but that's his opportunity. If he ends up injured for that month... well then that might be the last we see of him.

Just posting some comparisons between Fatawu and Mavididi. Both are doing well for us, and both had great games for us on the weekend. Fatawu has some absurd stats for a teenager, he's going to be a special player.
-
FYI here are Fatawu's stats. Fewer goals and assists, but the underlying stats show us that we have an absolute monster on our hands here:
-
5 goals, 4 assists now, that's a really solid contribution to the team. He had a great game at the weekend for sure! The scouting report above is interesting, it shows he's doing well, but maybe has a few areas he can improve in, as I would expect to see him in the top 5-10% of players for certain stats given his physicality and technical ability. All that said there is no doubt he's doing his part to take us back to the Premier League!

More eyes on this please! Best analysis of our entire system created so far. It’s quite complicated and a long read, but is super comprehensive, thorough and most importantly of all, factually correct. Thanks for sharing that. A pity the author isn’t on the forum.

Allow me to give you the official FoxesTalk guide to “how good are Leicester?” - Won by a large margin = better than 1970 Brazil - Won by 2 goals = good - Won by 1 goal = OK - Draw = areas of concern - Loss = Enzo out So based on this we are currently better than Pele’s world beaters
-
He probably should have had a hat-trick today, which is not the first time we've said that! I was delighted he got a goal, because after missing that easy tap-in and the one on one, he deserved something for his tireless work all game. He had a very good game and the average pitch positions showed that he was on average our furthest forward player today, showing not only his attacking runs, but willingness to press.
-
It felt like we consciously moved it forwards a lot faster. We didn't turn back and start again nearly as many times today as we have done in previous games. When we made subs, some of the players that came on, like Ben Nelson, did to that, which makes sense given he's not a regular in the team and was making his debut. For me it didn't seem so much that they were naive, but we were better at finding the right player at the right time. In his post match, Enzo says some interesting things: At half-time changed his pressing triggers so they pressed the right players. It was notable that we turned the ball over high up the pitch way more often in the second half. Says the way Plymouth moved the ball surprised him. They did make a weird selection for their starting line-up with a lot of their players that had previously done well starting on the bench.
-
At the end, Enzo says that it's unlikely that any of the players that missed today will be involved against Millwall, so looks like Daka keeps his place!

Best signing by any club in the Championship this season. Great shot stopper Brilliant with his feet Incredible distribution Claims crosses from corners and open play Incredible centre-half impression Generally excellent decision-making Who's been better than him? For any club? Maybe there are some, but I can't think of too many. Yeah he has made some mistakes, but he's played almost 20 games now and hasn't had a clanger yet. The scouting team deserves credit for this one!

It's unfair to say that was "Anti-Enzoball" but I definitely agree with the "not needlessly holding possession" statement. That was the big difference by FAR in this game compared to any other. There were still passages of play where we kept it for ages, but then we would explode into a great move. For that cross that Fatawu put in at about 8 minutes, we kept it for ages, feeling like weren't going to do anything, and then almost out of nowhere, bang, bang, bang, the ball goes from back to front in seconds via great passing into a really dangerous cross. All fans want to see more of that style of play, that's for sure! And yeah I agree with you in that by having such total control, it encourages teams to drop back into the deeper block. That might be exactly what Enzo is trying to achieve, but with where our team is at right now, it suits us for the game to be a bit messy and open to some degree.
-
Yeah that's my opinion too. I get Diego Jota at Wolves vibes where he was an outstanding talent at a midtable club. There's a lot more Fatawu can add to his game, and that is the terrifying thing! When he's the finished article, him cutting onto his left foot will be hitting the back of the net consistently. I don't think there was much wrong for the pass he made for Ndidi, who should have hit that with his left foot. Mavididi had a good game today with two goals, winning the penalty for himself. But you can see his ceiling already and for him it's more about consistency. With Fatawu under the right coach, he joins Mahrez and Barnes as a winger who leaves for a large sum of money. And I expect it to be more like the Mahrez fee than the Barnes one, because he's got way more in his locker than Harvey did. I also don't expect him to get found out in the Premier League because he's fast, strong and skilful. His decision-making could be better, but it's not terminal like Adama Traore or Demarai Gray. More than anything he comes across as a really likable lad too. He put in a great challenge in our box to stop a shot, and worked hard all game long. Mavididi comes across as the stroppy one, Fatawu has more "your lovable younger brother who just happens to be brilliant at football" vibes.
-
For me we were more direct with our attacking today. Not just the ball over the top for Daka, but Mavididi driving at his man and carrying it into the box, the 8's attacking the box with more gusto, more of a willingness to try and make something happen rather than being overly patient and trying to score the "perfect" goal. First half we made a lot of sloppy mistakes from passing out from the back. But if not for that, we were good all game and deservedly scored a lot. I'll do more of a write-up later another time, but we chatted about the game here:
-
I've never had anything against having direct attacks. I have said multiple times that I feel that is the one thing Enzo needs to do more of. I feel like our play up to the final third has been good all season, but when we get there, we don't always have to be so patient. Losing a 50/50 there isn't anywhere near as bad as in your own third. I get that he doesn't want the games to turn into basketball matches. But I feel like on a scale of 1-10, our directness is 2/10 at most. Today it feels more like 7/8 and well... the scoreline says it all. And Plymouth have actually been pretty good too.
-
I've said this multiple times in the Tactics thread... I analyse his tactics but me personally I would have a more aggressive style. But for this move, Patson has had a defender on him all game. He dipped back in in the previous move, so Mads then spotted there was space in behind. So this is route one, but it's calculated route one. And of course there's room for it in football! Bloody hell by the time i finished making this screen shot we have scored 2 more goals

ROUTE ONE (actually for the move at he dipped back in first to take the defender with him, then Mads played the ball over the top... the defender had been suckered in)
