  1. Glad someone else said this. Was starting to think it was something my nanna just made up. 😂 That is unless you're actually my cousin...
  2. Our first fix is up in June next year, which means we can start looking for new deals in January. If we were to lock in the best possible rate in January, could we then potentially change in, say, April/May, should we stumble across something better?
  3. It was 6ish. Did come up with a message (and a countdown) saying it needed to be completed before the website closed.🙈
  4. Received the V5C and tried to apply the new plate online, but said it couldn't be done. Sent it off Monday, and was signed for by the DVLA on Wednesday.
  5. Next up we have Jimmy Eat World at the Ally Pally (birthday gift from the wife), and just booked tickets for Slam Dunk Festival in May.
  6. Anyone with any experience putting a personalised number plate on a car via post, and how long it takes? Went to do it online, but couldn't - I think because the car had been untaxed whilst at the dealers. Had to send off via snail mail. Also assuming you have to wait for the confirmation via post before sticking the new plates on the car, whereas online it is instant.
  7. We went for a 5-year fix, which is due to end next summer. As we only put down a 5% deposit, we were stuck on around a 3.5% rate at a time when the standard was just over 1%. Wasn't great at first, but it does mean that now we're coming to renew, the jump to around 4-4.5% doesn't seem so high. We've also made it a priority to overpay by a few hundred quid every month. In addition to obviously paying off the capital, it means we already have it in our monthly budget should our new rate necessitate higher monthly payments. Unless rates absolutely rocket in the next six months, we know we can still afford those repayments without taking a lifestyle hit at the end of the current deal. Would recommend doing that if you can.
  8. Many have been using him as a justification for the violence... So if the above is true, one of their own brought a knife to a vigil, Police arrested him, and the knuckle-draggers started kicking off at police and showed their blatant racism by attacking a mosque. Do I have that right?
  9. My understanding is that the child of two Polish* parents, living and working in the UK with settled status, wouldn't be automatically entitled to British citizenship. They are Polish citizens, but would be allowed to apply for British citizenship after a period, should they so wish. *(Using Polish as an example as I have friends in this situation, but the same applies for citizens of other nations.)
  10. Still likely out of my price range. Just looking at something small and cheap, like a Zoe or a Leaf. Some decent-looking ones at around the 13-14k mark. Can charge at work for free, so factoring in the PCP costs it'd cost around £80 a month extra to run than my current, 10-year-old ICE car.
  11. Anyone with any experience using the likes of Cinch to buy a car? Looking to go electric, but can't justify buying brand new for something with decent range. Seems like some decent PCP deals available, for some low mileage cars. Likely won't be trading in my current car either.
  12. Andorra was beautifully picturesque. A day in the capital, Andorra La Vella (in 40°c heat, no less), was more than enough; but imagine you could spend a few days exploring. Did a day out in Barcelona last week (impromptu, after my 11y.o son ended up in Spanish A&E, having split his eyebrow open). We've been before, but decided to do some of the touristy bits. Watched the Euros final amongst Spaniards - atmosphere was fantastic, with fireworks and celebrations on the beach. Last few days in Catalunya now.
  13. Anyone been to Andorra La Vella? Have a day there next week, and starting to wonder what the hell there is to do...
  14. 12 nights in Spain from next week, not far from Tarragona. Family holiday, so beaches, theme parks and water parks. Just booked a coach trip up to Andorra as well. May pop to Barcelona for the day, but been several times before so not too fussed. Also finally my wife and I get to take my lad to Poland in October. Flying into Poznań and out of Kraków five days later, with just a backpack each. Spend a couple of days in each city nd one somewhere in between - ideally Katowice, but possibly Wrocław, Łódź or Warsaw; and most possibly dictated by wherever the Monday night Ekstraklasa game is being played.
  15. All eyes on Didcot and Wantage, where my Lib Dem vote is being cast.
