Out of the main posters on here who were historically Tory voters, myself included, I haven't seen anyone who has said they will be voting the same way this time. The problem with this group of voters is many of their views do not align with Labour, so I imagine their votes will be split amongst the fringe parties, spoiled, or they just won't bother. Who loses out the most if this happens I dont know, maybe it means the outcome will be closer than it seems at the moment? Anyone who is actually planning to vote Conservative now must surely be over the age of about 70, possibly suffering with dementia or at least some kind of memory loss, otherwise why would they?

Yes of course you may ask, and it's lovely of you to think of me If I'm completely honest some days are OK and I think I'm coping well, then sometimes it hits me by what literally feels like a ton of bricks, so much that I fully understand where the phrase comes from. Just the other day we needed to venture in to our garage, which is more of a store room, and Ellis' swimming shorts were on view. All my mind was filled with afterwards were my memories of him wearing said shorts, and with that the knowledge that I'll never see him, ever again. It's really hard to comprehend that I will never again see my little boy But on the whole life has to go on, and it does, it's just constantly tinged with sadness and regret, things I know Ellis would not have forseen, otherwise he would not have done what he did. Sorry Wymsey you probably wish you hadn't asked now, but it's good sometimes to get things down, and this is a great place for that.

How are you both getting on, is there any more news from the barrister? I know Kenny posted something potentially positive recently, fingers crossed you've had some more hopeful advice since this post, and most importantly, I hope you're both doing OK

All the more reason we could have expected them to do better I would have thought

Yesterday was a good day, my eldest son and his girlfriend are on holiday this week in Benidorm, so we drove up to see them and took them out for lunch, we also met up with her parents for a drink which was nice, all in all as good a day as can be expected at the minute, but lovely nonetheless.

That's not how it works though is it? When you were working and paying your tax and NI you were funding the pensions people were drawing then, and the current workers are paying for the current pensioners. I thought was how it has always worked? Tax and NI is not like a private pension where it sits in your own personal pension pot, it's a state benefit paid for by the tax payers of the time

Agreed, I think the politics of recent years may have actually forced the reversal of the historical trend

It's not racist to protest against tourists The tourists might bring money to the local business owners for a couple of months a year, but they bring big problems too. They are often anti social creating pressure on the police, they bring extra rubbish and litter, and they are certainly pricing out the locals of housing particularly on the Spanish islands. The extra money they bring to the restaurants and bars doesn't cover the extra infrastructure needed to accommodate them, and locals who can no longer afford to live where they were born and brought up are understandably peeved to say the least. Oh and Spain definitely wouldn't miss the Brits, in fact they'd be glad if most never returned, we're hardly big spenders on holiday, it's all about the Russians and the Scandinavians these days.

Thanks, yes that's what I saw too. The last point makes me think I may just as well arrange my own postal vote if I don't have anyone I can rely on who is registered to vote in my own constituency. Anyone want to volunteer to cast my proxy vote who is registered in Oadby and Wigston?

Does anyone know if a proxy vote needs to be made in the same constituency as the voter is registered in? I can't seem to find a definitive answer online

The only time I ever needed to complain to Ryanair was because they broke their own T&C's but they just completely ignored me. During Covid we had up to 7 days before a flight to change the date free of charge, and when I tried they charged me GBP140 for it, even when I showed them screenshots of their own rules. They wouldn't have it so I paid it assuming I could claim it back afterwards but they just ignored all my emails. This was before I knew about the ADR, I wouldn't let them get away with it now. But I think they are pretty strict and/or uninterested, good luck with it though, and I did think it unlikely you've actually broken your neck but didn't like to ask

I'm not sure that Ryanair would refund you for that if it's a non refundable booking, wouldn't it be a travel insurance claim?

I'm more surprised that VAT isn't already charged on private education tbh, it's a choice after all not to utilise a free service already provided by the state

I really hope nobody thinks this is inappropriate, I will happily delete it if so, but I wanted to show you all. I've had my first, and probably only, tattoo done this evening. If you can't tell from the photos, and they're not the best, it's round my ankle, with Ellis' name at the back. I'm really pleased with it, it's exactly what I wanted. The hardest thing though is that I really want to be able to show him
