  1. The usual. Giveaways and failing to track his man
  2. Three mistakes plus a crap booking in a single half. Belgium, you are getting Wouted here.
  3. Much, much more entertaining stuff from Denmark and Serbia. There's more thrills in 5 minutes of watching Vestergaard win desperate footraces than 3 full games of watching England. He's actually quite central in much of what Denmark do, setting up attacks and being the target on set pieces
  4. There can't be a neutral fan left in the world who hasn't come to hate this team. Actually it appears there's hardly an England fan left who hasn't come to hate this team.
  5. Like having become a billionaire?
  6. The Belgian media know him well. Never will a full 90' pass without Faes switching off at least once, usually at the worst possible time. I used to think that could surely be coached out of him. I was wrong. Premier League athlete, but with a Sunday league brain. Cooper the pragmatist will simply end up setting our line a lot deeper than Enzo did. It's not like he will even have a choice.
  7. Ayoze Perez's personalized shin pads for the euros
  8. Bloody hell, our new gaffer's mum is David Bowie! What a club
  9. It got something going in here ... but on the pitch, it just seems to have deflated things.
  10. The better move: look-at-England-score-avoid-the-game. You're welcome.
  11. If anything, a fortunate draw for England.
  12. Southgate has dined out on his instinct for safety for how long? The Safety Waistcoat. He'll always get you out of a Group of Cake and into an easy draw for the next round. And this is Group “C” for Cake. By the quarters, most of you will be super pumped, no matter how many times you’ve seen this movie.
  13. Harry feels so honored they changed it to "God Save the Kane"
  14. If he keeps us up and takes points off Chelsea and Forest, he's a god. Get to work Steve. Difficult year ahead.
  15. What an entertaining match! That's Croatia's goose cooked. Hard to see them beating Italy.
  16. Thoughts on the “City Connect” kit scheme, or your team’s version? US baseball writers (who all have one foot in the 19th century) have all managed to miss the obvious: It’s an attempt by Rob Manfred’s boys to catch the excitement of the yearly kit reveals by soccer clubs, and graft it onto America’s most hide-bound, traditionalist sport. The shirts have to change every year, usually include at least one that is really bright and/or edgy, and should stimulate a lot of discussion and debate. Clubs hope the new designs will stimulate the youthful segment of the fanbase, be is different enough to sell to match-going fans at an outrageous price, and seem like a necessity to the jersey collectors. I thought the Guards’ CLE shirt was a good, sharp breaking pitch, one of the few really good ones this year. But I’ll keep wearing my Indians jerseys to games until they wear out. At a hundred bucks a throw, I can live without “Guardians” across the front, much less a yearly City Connect novelty.
  17. I had to record Sunday and just watched it. I think in one sense, deChambeau was very, very fortunate. Any other US Open, any player who parked most of his drives in the rough wouldn't even have made the leaderboard. Punitive rough is a distinction of the tournament. At Pinehurst, the "native" or whatever they called it was not so much guaranteed punishment as a spin of the wheel. You could lie up against the wire grass -- or (as mostly happened to deChambeau) just be sitting on rough dirt. His luck held. Most of his lies were workable, and he easily reached greens coming out of them. Also fortunate in another sense, that his main competitor couldn't handle two short putts coming home.
  18. "He's running through glue! He can barely move his feet, Jannik Veestergard!" Laughing and crying at that from the commentary booth.
  19. An underrated contribution to the joke thread, Izzy. And that's on top of the Recycling medal you have already won how many times?
  20. Croatia aren't going anywhere with this central defense.
