Europa Conference League 2023/24
Torquay Gunner replied to StanSP's topic in General Football and Sport
What do you think Spurs will do in the CL next season, apart from embarrass themselves when they play the likes of Inter, Barca etc? Should be fun! I have said on here before that 2nd or 4th makes no difference if you have not won the damn thing, so no celebration from me. However, a club of Spurs’s size to finish 16th or 17th in the PL, losing 20 games is a humiliation, no other way to view that. -

I can’t argue with that one, last chance saloon for Arteta next season. -

Have to debate that one. Spurs beat Bodo/Glimt in the semi final (a team that I had Google to spell correctly). Once the format changed and the CL teams no longer dropped down to the Europa (something I agree with btw) it devalued it big time. -

Well yes they did a win a trophy, the European equivalent of the Zenith Data Cup. However, they are also going to finish 16th or 17th and may not reach 40 points, which in most other seasons would mean they were in a relegation battle. I will try not to envy them too much. 😂 -

Have to be honest and say I saw not one minute of that game. Does Levy give Postecoglou another season off the back of that? Spurs in the CL playing the likes of Inter, Barca and PSG should at least be amusing next season. -

He has an over inflated opinion of his managerial history. He keeps talking about winning trophies with Celtic and Brisbane Roar. -

Yes I think so. I can see Spurs pulling the trigger on Postecoglou as it’s his second season and they have clearly got worse. Amorim however only took over last November and needs a summer transfer window of his own before he can be judged. Still horrendous season even if they win it. -
Gone but not forgotten and certainly not the death list

Considering that show is 40 odd years old, I think the rest of the cast(apart from Kirstie Alley) is still alive. The best thing about Cheers for me though, was that Frasier was created from it. -
Emery has done well with Villa and of course previously with Seville, but I rather think that is his ceiling.

He has had 5 full seasons and yes we have improved and are back in the Champions League again. However, he has spent a lot of money to get there and yet we still don't have a 20 goal a season striker. Jesus and Havertz are not the answer and never were. Thankfully his vanity project Sterling will be sent back to Chelsea. For me he is in last chance saloon, another trophy less season and he should be out of the door. He has a lot of fan boys though who seem to be content for him to carry on regardless.

Much as I cannot stand Man City I doubt that is true. You don't travel to Wembley and not care if your team wins, whoever you are. I imagine that they are gutted, particularly as it’s back to back final defeats for them.
-
Well done Palace.
-
Yes surely for the neutrals, why would you not want a club who have never won a major trophy to lose to the petrolstate bores?
-
Spurs tonked a few teams in the first half of the season, they stuck 4 past Man City, Everton, West ham and 5 past Southampton, but I only remember Liverpool thrashing them. Most of their defeats have been by the odd goal. So not typical results for a team that low.
-
Pleased with that 2nd half response. Hard to believe how much TAA was booed. What a dismal bunch of supporters Liverpool have.
-
Nice guy Danny Welbeck by all accounts and of course he has been unfortunately injury prone his entire career. However, that goal record for a central striker/winger does not look too clever.

14 years is at the top of the scale, since no one actually gets life (the max term). The range is between 5 -14 years and most offenders will get nowhere near that 14 figure. https://www.stuartmillersolicitors.co.uk/sentence-for-death-by-dangerous-driving-offences/

Well done Southampton.

NETFLIX RECOMMENDATIONS: stuff to watch

A Deadly American Marriage. Well made documentary featuring all the major people involved in this shocking case and ultimately another damning indictment of the US justice system. Those poor teenagers have been through the ringer. -
Yes they are scumbags, but a ten year sentence would be overkill. Drink drivers who kill people usually get less than that.

Not the producer by any chance are you? 🤣

Sadly I always need the recap, otherwise I can’t remember who has done what to you and why!
