  1. I missed that too, but this explains it.
  2. I had always worked full time and then in my late fifties was re-employed back in the civil service on a 4 day week. I chose to take Monday as my non working day and it significantly improved my energy levels and morale to have that long weekend to look forward to.
  3. Yeah it was Belgium alright. Now edited.
  4. What a come back from the Philippines to knock out Belgium. They looked dead and buried at 3-0 down. I love these upsets.
  5. Hope not! 😂
  6. Well done Gavin Newsom. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd62d8jp046o
  7. Gerald Harper still alive at 94!
  8. I only learned of this incredible story on Monday. Her plane disintegrated at 10, 000 feet and she was blown out still strapped to her seat and then survived 10 days in the Amazon.
  9. Many thanks.
  10. Krcmar could play the main muscle of a Bond villain quite easily! As you say he’s a very decent darts player.
  11. Tbf, Van De Bergh can be a bit cringe! Oh pity, it’s De Decker in for Huybrechts anyway. England should walk this, I could see Germany doing well. No MVG?
  12. Thanks for the reminder! I quite like watching Belgium play as Huybrechts and Van den Bergh are very much the odd couple. I don't think Huybrechts likes him very much!
  13. Cheers. I think the met police band finished playing at Highbury during the 80s. I first went regularly to Highbury from the mid 90’s, so did n’t get to see them. Still miss the old ground though, you must feel the same way about Filbert Street?
  14. I got asked, rather rudely I thought the other day by someone on the football thread, what I as an Arsenal fan was doing on this site. I didn't provide a reply, but if I had it would have been because I like reading and sometimes contributing to the threads under the General Discussion banner. IMO they tend to be more interesting than the football threads. That is because for the main part, whilst people will of course disagree with each other, the tone is generally respectful. If someone for example on ‘the gooner’ disagreed with each other frequently one or both would be told to f**k off and die. The ‘mods’ tended to let a lot go! I hope the General News thread will be reinstated at some point.
  15. I thought your reply a bit abstract, hence my question. Though there was a hit song “Living in a box” as I recall. I am clearly waffling now!
  16. Is that a song title?
  17. We couldn't afford potatoes let alone a gun to fire them out!
  18. How do you pull someone trousers and pants down by accident?
  19. Living on the outskirts of London as a kid and then years later working in central London, the Routemaster was the absolute bee’s knees.
  20. For anyone interested in Japan, this is a fascinating insight into their unique justice system.
  21. He has done really well at Brentford, but how much time will he get at Spurs if he does go there I wonder. Looking at their past managers, particularly since 2001 when Levy was made chairman, only three, Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino have lasted longer than two years. Levy has fired more than a dozen managers ( not including the stand ins) in that time. He will need to turn it around there quite quickly and maintain into that second season.
  22. I don't think the IDF ‘do’ safety do they? At least they did n’t repeat their lethal 2010 assault on the Turkish aid ship.
  23. Do you not understand the meaning of a title challenge? 23/24 went to the final game of the season, how often does that happen? Answer not very often. I can’t say I am particularly interested where Spurs or Utd finish up next season, but I can see at least half a dozen clubs finishing above them, so scrambling for 7th or 8th possibly. The only thing I can agree on is that this chat has got very monotonous and its over and out from me.
  24. Do you really think by this stage Israel cares what the world thinks of them? I can’t imagine any such blowback hurting them, since they seem quite willing to weaponize food and starve a couple of million people in full glare of that world.
  25. I always liked him, even when he was at Chelsea.
