  1. I think this is what Enzo is suggesting. That if Fatawu goes away for a month, and either he gets injured there, and/or Kasey does very well in his absence, that he might not get back in the team. If this happens, as the 60% threshold would not be met, our obligation will turn back into an option, and a decision would have to be made by the club at the end of the season as to whether we've seen enough from him in the pre-AFCON games to justify exercising our option. The chances of that scenario actually happening, resulting in us not exercising our option/obligation, is of course really tiny. But Fatawu can't guarantee he won't get a bad injury at AFCON, plus he's seen what Maresca has done with the Daka situation and how Nacho/Vardy will probably get minimal game time for the rest of the season. I'd probably not risk it either in his shoes.
  2. Considerably better looking than I expected... seems like their features cancel each other out
  3. Enzo certainly done a good job of convincing Fatawu that we might not buy him if he goes to AFCON Very helpful for us
  4. Ndidi and Nacho both injured according to Enzo, neither would have been fit to play. So Daka really the only one we didn't play, which is fair enough to give Cannon some game time to bed in before the next two tough games.
  5. I stopped watching for months. Couldn't even enjoy it when we scored a goal as there was only the sinking feeling that we wouldn't hold on to it. Still traumatised from that Spurs game.
  6. Currently at 14 appearances. After 25 appearances, we become obligated to buy for 10m euros. Do we reckon we end up triggering it if he stays fit?
  7. Yellow card suspensions are competition specific. Red card suspensions count across competitions.
  8. Yup Morsy will be suspended against us. Burgess at Asia Cup, obviously Hirst missing, potentially Davis might still be out injured too. So we should have the upper hand despite our own absentees.
  9. Leaving it a bit late to tell Fatawu if they're planning to pull him now, he's just posted this
  10. Leeds fans loved saying this, but it's the biggest myth going as they never actually reached an average ppg enough for top 2, always just hovering below 2 ppg (worse now). Southampton have only reached that ppg in the last week. Here's someone doing the math on the Southampton forum recently when Southampton/Leeds were on a good run of form, both with 42 points from 22 games - concluding it would normally only be enough for 3rd. https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/60557-a-comparison-to-previous-championship-seasons-after-22-games/

  12. 32 Probably closer to 40 next year if we go up
  13. Perhaps I rate Ipswich and McKenna too highly/more highly than most on here. I was impressed with how they played against us and they were much better than I expected (after watching them being shite against Leeds, maybe a one off). I don't know a great deal about their recruitment, but if McKenna can identify cheap outcasts who have failed elsewhere such as Hirst, Davis etc and improve them significantly, I figure with PL money he can buy near enough a full squad with sufficient quality to stay up. Their lack of defence is certainly an issue, but I feel like trying to outscore the opposition will still work often enough.
  14. My concern is that I thought we looked less than convincing even in the 2 games that we did win in that 4 game period.
  15. Southampton play an even more possession dominant style than us, I feel their style would struggle in the PL for many of the reasons we might, and they have an inferior manager. Ipswich's style I think is more suited to the PL, and after significant squad upgrades with PL money, could do better than us. Ideally I'd like Southampton to come up with us in autos, and some random team through the playoffs (not Leeds or Ipswich).
  16. Morsy and Sulemana aren't going to AFCON.
  17. Yeah, not seen this mentioned here before as it was a bit buried on the OS. They did this once before during Covid when ST renewals dropped, essentially allowing those who decided to give up their STHs to "skip the queue" and immediately get it back the following season as long as they bought membership and went to 3 games. Made sense during Covid as some people couldn't renew for good reason (vulnerabilities). But not sure about doing it this season as some of those non-renewing STHs simply didn't want to watch Championship football, and they can easily get their ST back next season if we go up. Helps with retention and maintaining the long ST waiting list ahead of the stadium expansion I guess..
  18. I don't like that the two hardest games are the first two games in that run, doesn't give Enzo enough minutes to work out what works best in real game situations. Can see us easily dropping 8 points in these games, given how we played without Ndidi during his short injury spell.
  19. Where have you seen this, all I've seen is that Sulemana is still out for another month with a recent hamstring injury
  20. It's evened out for us so far I think. This season, 3 errors relating to stonewall penalties that I recall.. - Pen not given against us (Faes vs Sunderland) - 2 pts gained - Pen not given for us (Fatawu vs Millwall) - 0 pts dropped - Pen not given for us (KDH vs Ipswich) - 2 pts dropped Similar with red cards where we might have gotten 1-2 of ours sent off in previous games, same with our opponents.
  21. Desperation for anyone but Casadei to cover for Wilf when he goes off to AFCON. Hopefully Yunus can do a job there
  22. Attitude issue?
