Oh definitely, I'm really enjoying football again after going to watch the non-league. I started to lose loads of interest in 2019 in the PL and then in between the lockdowns when matches started up again I promised I'd show some support for a local non-league club. I tried Banbury at first but didn't like it there, and when Brackley opened we went to to watch them play Blyth Spartans - we loved it, and we were very impressed by the professional nature of the set-up and the football was much better standard than I expected. The club is so friendly, the fanbase has all ages going and the more local nature was much more appealing now I live down this way. I still go back to a few LCFC matches but I struggle to get excited by the corporate feeling the club emits now. It's a super point about the mentality of non-league personalities and what it means to players. I know an ex-player that is a senior manager in my work and he played for Kettering, Nuneaton, St. Albans for a long time. His stories about when he played for Gazza are worth listening to. It certainly suits a person to play part time at National League North/South levels as working FT and then playing PT is actually a wonderful thing to do. But it's not easy for all as I was speaking to a young player's Dad last week and he's struggling since leaving league 2 football and going part-time. Another work colleague of mine has a younger brother that played for Reading U21 and most recently with Aldershot, but now has no club so it's not all a bed of roses. Perhaps it suits the player born to play non-league with a job more than the player that falls out of a big club's youth team and heads slowly down the leagues. What I love about non-league is there are 100s of clubs to learn about and now visit - I read further up this thread about Coalville supporters going to Bath and I'm actually envious of anyone going, it sounds like a superb trip. Each time we pay to go and watch a non-league team we know we're doing much more to help them survive/thrive etc.

Yeah I watch Danny Newton at Brackley Town, reminds me a lot of Vardy. He was in his camp and is a wiry striker. Scored some super goals this year including a lovely one against Scunthorpe in the FA Cup

That’s a great effort from the Dynamo Dresden fan watching two teams with Dynamo in their name too! When I come home one weekend I need to get to a local game either Loughborough or Shepshed. The last Shepshed game I watched was probably 35 years ago as a kid, they beat Derby in a preseason friendly by quite some margin I remember!
-
Hope the game was good, I'm from Shepshed but now live in West Northants. Just like you I went to watch the non-league today and it was the local derby between Brackley v Banbury this afternoon instead of Leicester. Great trip out as always, 3-1 Brackley and 1441 in attendance doubled the average crowd this season. Some great end to end football and a pretty decent atmosphere too

The bigger sized clubs have contributed to this situation massively. The average age of the PL fan must be quite high now as they’re locked into their seats. I’d guess SK2 where I sit is an average age of 55 minimum. It’s too comfy now once you’ve had a ST. For the Plymouth game a young lad (13 probably) was properly getting into the game cheering the team on. It needs more youth coming through the supporters ranks but they’re effectively blocked from going. I watch more non-league now and enjoy making my decision whether to go closer to the game. It’s a much more mixed age group with more youngsters watching.

I was thinking exactly the same that the songs are more complex, less spontaneous and actually hard to remember. Even when we’re in the ground you can’t tell what is being sung. It certainly doesn’t help that the crowd is getting older as nobody relinquishes their life long seats which leaves very little room to allow new/younger fans in. Tbh I think most big clubs have similar issues and it’s not just LCFC
-
I was hoping to be there in the away end with the 7 Brackley fans but plans changed sadly I did watch them play Spennymoor today, 3-1 win with close to 700 in

Morning All - I turn up here in peace as I really do care about my fellow human beings especially Leicester fans! We may need to consider illness is not what we're told Consider what we put in our body on a daily basis and that it needs to come out - I'm talking about the toxins, chemicals, heavy metals you find in food, water, air etc Then take into account your own state of being often affected by the change in season It's a common time for your body to naturally detox as much as it can and that comes out in multiple forms that may look like the common cold, the flu, anything really. Our mind plays a role too, whether it be stress or a weakness in what we perceive to be true. I've mentioned before, we'd be better off ignoring the news especially on popular items. I'm not here trying to deflect this thread nor belittle the fact that people are ill, it's a horrible process and most get through it as we know but for those weaker or older it's a terrible time and can be devastating. We owe it to ourselves to understand ourselves better but this comes from within, and not from without - we all have the answers and it's not in the news. 'Everything popular is wrong" is a good place to start

It’s looking likely we might well get more points on the road this season as teams open up more in their home fixture. Tbh I’ve enjoyed the positivity in what I’ve seen in my two home games of Hull + Bristol City far more than the past two seasons even though both games were hard.

I went to watch Brackley beat Scunny 3-1 last night in the FA Cup and what a game! Some terrific football, a superb goal from Danny Newton and just a great night out. it always helps when the home team attack down the hill against a ten man side looking unfit I’d also say! As always it’s a pleasure watching football at different levels.
-
IMHO We’d be better off ignoring the news all together Trouble is there’s some truth and real stories at a local level but the national news is getting more absurd by the day. I think it’s less about the world going mad but more about the pitiful stories being made up. I imagine 99% of journalists are no more than content editors now rehashing info from a central database. Old Shakey did say the world is a stage after all! That’s William, not Craig BTW!
-
Some of the size changes are shocking! The Hartleys jam is laughable - they reduced the jar size and left the old sized lid on it making it look the most obvious item that has shrunk down! It looks so stupid like a tiny man with a giant head! BTW I'm only 5' 7" so know about these things!
-
They're always terrible out of focus shots too! So we'll soon be presented with crystal clear cameras in stores (they're already in major ones yet to be used) that can ID you by your eyes/face structure etc and will be able to deduct money from your bank account with 100% accuracy but the press seem to have worse than polaroid cameras these days! Hmmm... yeah of course those photos are genuine! I can't say this for sure, but I'd imagine all of the so called trusted press take their information/articles from a central database and they just churn it with a slight left or slight right bias and then for those that disagree they give people a new net to find, being the alternative press that is most likely just at the end of the corridor of BBC/ITV etc! I jest a little but I'd say I'm close on this. I'm just back from Rhodes, there is no doubt they had some fires in some parts (I saw one hill only that was charred in the South near Lindos). but the real cause was not what was told. Plus the fires were mainly put out within 24 hours which contradicts the trusted press again - I read a headline just a week ago how it was still wrong for people to visit Rhodes (the Guardian of course) and what is wrong with these people doing such a macabre thing! The island was beautiful, people so friendly and they want you there as there economy has been wrecked since 2001. Sadly I got back home and people would not believe me when I said it was normal and absolutely beautiful as ever, they wanted me to say it was a disaster with charred bodies in the street I'm sure! Gosh we live under a spell book don't we!
-
It's shockingly faked! There are no experts but just made up stories! My word, I once trusted the news but the past few years they have done a terrible job at lying on so many subjects To be a good liar you need a good memory too, but their memories are terrible and they just hope you forget or get distracted by football, a new iphone, anything really. It's sad as I once naively thought we had a free and independent press where truth will prevail, not any more as they just push out any old nonsense and if the gullible don't fall for it then they pull a new article out all agreeing it was faked anyway! If it looks like a dog turd it probably is! Trouble is it goes much much deeper than just a few faked alien stories, but that is a different story
-
That no probs with me at all @Arriba Los Zorros, So I'm in Towcester (born in Leicester, lived in Shepshed for first 20+ years) - I'm probably same distance to Brackley as yourself. We first went in December 2020 when they re-opened for two games and was pleasantly surprised. We tried Banbury a month earlier whilst LCFC was closed but did not really like it there.
-
Yeah I remember Southport at Brackley Town last year and they took pot shots at goal all afternoon - quite a spectacle as I find National League North such a tight league between the teams in the games I've been to. I was at Brackley v Buxton yesterday, 556 in attendance which was comfortably nice as we could enjoy the game and time in the bar watching the Arsenal game first. Buxton played well and were unlucky not to come away with a point. A very nice goal from Danny Newton (great beard by the way!) gave Brackley the win. As always a great day out just 15 mins from home I still have my LCFC season ticket (more for social reasons these days than anything else and it gets me back to my roots) and plan to do half my games at Brackley and half at Leicester
-
Back from the Brackley game, well done to Kidderminster, they looked sharper in attack with some very neat players. Still a very good afternoon out but I have to admit I’m preferring the normal, much smaller attendances as you can spend time in the bar easier!
-
Just about to go to the Play-Off North match at Brackley Town, it’s a sell out with 3000 tickets sold. Had the choice of watching two non league sides play today or a non-league side take on Liverpool tomorrow, so chose the fairer match up! Only joking would love to have been at both but Monday nights are a real pain these days to attend
-
Oh yeah it’s a super club in such a small town. Approx 15k live there I think. I now live in Towcester (I grew up in Shepshed!) and know Buckingham well In some ways I’m sad to say this but I’ll be gladly missing the Liverpool game on Monday so I can do the Brackley final instead. Can’t justify doing both as I also support the Speedway team. I have to juggle a bit when the season overlaps, not the worst dilemma tbh. What I love at Brackley is the community feel it has plus seeing all these new teams I’ve never seen before.
-
Just back from Brackley v Gloucester in the Play Off eliminator in the National League North - what a superb night! 2-2 AET then Brackley won 5-3 on pens! There was even 9 minutes of injury time after the 90 and an equaliser in the 99th for the away team! Over 1600 in attendance including 500 very noisy away fans This was my 10th visit of the season as it’s my now nearest club. It is always a pleasure to come here, even on the more modest league days of around 600 or so but tonight was great!
-
Exactly that, it’s not enjoyable I remember Liverpool (19/20 season) at home and they did the utterly woeful light show for the first time thinking that I’m getting bored of this nonsense now. Lockdown was a welcome break from attending even though I hated lockdown! Don’t get me wrong I love football, I enjoyed the World Cup, love the art of it all and thoroughly enjoy watching my local non league side.

Very similar to you, I only renewed past two years because of the very good friends that I sit with for past 25+ years, well it’s 30 years since my first game v Tranmere! But with that being said I have only been to 5 games this year (sold my allocated 3 on the official exchange) and will probably only do the Liverpool game but even that I’m not interested in I now live near Brackley Town (just 15 mins away) and I’ve been there 9 times this season. It represents the community and I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. 850 in the ground on Friday may not have the same noise as LCFC but it’s a good afternoon out and that’s all I ask for. I keep thinking why I have fallen out of love with LCFC/PL and it’s the lack of community spirit now. The 90s style club was more enjoyable when players were still well paid but more closer to us and our life styles. Julian Joachim lived on the same road as my mates Dad (modern 4 bed style, not a mansion) when he was with us and I went to a wedding that had Steve Walsh turn up as a guest too! Imagine that now, the players do not relate to us anymore. I’m hoping I forget about the ST deadline, as last year my wife said have you renewed yet which prompted me to stupidly by a ticket!
-
How funny I was thinking exactly the same about my recent experiences of watching a smaller club play. We become irrelevant as the club expands but you watch them cater for us if we drop a league or two! I’m half way between Cobblers ground and Brackley so go left on the A43 to the non-league instead! I never thought I’d ever care about going to watch a different club play regularly as it was Leicester Leicester Leicester all the way for me (born in Leicester, lived in the county until 25, went to Uni in Leicester too) but going to a club a few minutes away rather than allocating a whole afternoon for 20+ days a year being stuck in traffic as they close motorways changed my mind on the subject!

I was thinking exactly the same that even if we start winning or at least playing entertaining football, the so called match day experience is woeful, you can’t even speak to your friends as the music is too loud! I’ve only been to a handful of home games this season and sadly used my allocation up of selling my ticket on the exchange already. Had a season ticket since 1998, would regularly go 5-10 away games even during Megson time but now just can’t face it. A good honest afternoon or evening is all we ask for and the Americanisation + sanitisation of PL is sad to see. Tbh the rot was creeping in long before now. I found a non league club near me and I know the football isn’t the same level but you’re appreciated as you enter the ground and it ends up being a good afternoon out. Whilst in the PL we barely exist as fans now -
Similar story for myself, I live a few miles south now so I sold my Newcastle ticket on the LCFC exchange and went to see Brackley v Banbury game instead. Great afternoon out, over a 1000 in attendance, came back after the lunch time KO and watched our game on Prime but did not regret my decision one bit even before we conceded! I miss 1990s football at Leicester, they were superb days when the club was part of the community.
