Smithies is out of contract in the summer. So could see him gone then, with Ward 3rd choice next season. Not ideal but better than the 5 we started this season with!!

The other thing our 8’s need is goal threat. Bouba has 1 goal and 4 assists in nearly 200 professional games. Maybe that could be taught, but I wouldn’t like to bet on it.

Agree with pretty much all of this, although could see Cannon staying as 3rd choice striker next year, Daka 2nd choice, so new starter needed. Also think Yunus becomes an obligation if we go up? Still means we’re looking at minimum: 1 x CB 2 x CM 1 x LW 1 x ST + Fatawu, Yunus & Doyle being made perm, so 8 total. As for Jan I can only see business being done early if we’re able to shift Souttar or Praet.

Would people take Georginio Rutter if we go up and Leeds don’t? Seems to have found his feet in the Championship, still only 21 and offers good link up play and both footed. Seem to remember him recommended on the forum a few times before he went to Leeds.

I must admit there is definitely a part of me that wants Vardy to play, score and knee slide in front of Wazza. Chief Rustler. But another part of me thinks it would be better if he wasn’t there, and it’s treated as a normal game not a spectacle ie. Wagatha Christie II. We should have too much to beat Brum as it is, don’t want something silly like that getting their fans riled up and making Brum play better, and adding pressure to our team.

Tbh I think against teams in the top half, Wilf would probably be the right choice still due to his athleticism and pressing. But would be good to have a slightly more attacking option for him to rotate with, basically what Casadei should have been.
