  1. I feel like we're getting our just desserts for deciding we're too good for this league and picking the manager that projects the club's delusions of grandeur over taking an approach grounded in reality. With the players available a solid manager with a proven track record at this level would have seen us comfortably promoted. Instead we have a bloke who has never had a proper management job losing game after game because his style has zero pragmatism.
  2. I've had issues on and off with weight most of my life but it tends to boil down to mental health. If I'm in a good place mentally and making a conscious decision over what I'm eating then I eat more or less good nutritious foods and have a healthy BMI. Unfortunately I have a tendency to compulsively eat as a way of managing stress or to binge eat while emotionally dysregulated. As I understand it exercise isn't really a great way to lose weight but the benefits of an exercise regime are still huge. As a society it would probably help if we didn't allow capitalism to groom our children into becoming addicted to unhealthy foods.
  3. @Parafox Does your daughter have any ambitions or things she's passionate about? Has she been taught skills for emotional self regulation? Does she try to work on herself? I can relate a bit though I didn't have anything like such a bad childhood. I'm pretty terrible at seeking help due to my experiences in childhood and adolescence. So I can sympathise with not wanting to interact with the NHS that much.
  4. Perhaps it was the International Osteoporosis Foundation?
  5. Some people have a pathological need to feel important and if they don't think they can achieve that in sociably acceptable ways then they will resort to anti social behaviours. This fella wants the world to know that he was *the man* when it came to monkey torture.
  6. She seems like a good example of why I think championing absolute free speech isn't a good idea.
  7. Yes.
  8. Very true.
  9. That's why I call myself a Christian or secular Christian. The Jews I know have a better relationship with their religion. It doesn't seem particularly important to be a 'believer'. I think there is much on offer from the Christian tradition. My interpretation is that performing Christianity is much more about values and how we conduct ourselves. I like to say the Lord's prayer once a week. I think it's entirely possible to have a set of moral principles without being in any way religious but just rejecting 'sky fairies' is not a way to do that.
  10. Wanted to make a topic about religion/faith but couldn't really find the right words. Was interesting looking through the old religion topics how many great posts there were by posters that have left.
  11. @FoxesDeb I'm so sorry. I appreciate your presence here.
  12. I consider myself a (secular) Christian. I doubt there are many better countries to be in when it comes to freedom of religion. In what way do you feel there's hostility and ridicule towards Christianity?
  13. I think because we're a Christian country so poking fun at 'our' religion is fine.
  14. Sorry to hear that. I hope she gets the immediate care she needs.
  15. Just watched this. Thought it was quite dirty by Alonso.
  16. Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse where someone attempts to undermine another person's sense of reality. The aim is to make them doubt themselves and become reliant on the abuser for validation. It's one of those things that's crept into the mainstream.
  17. I really appreciate the replies. I rarely take people up on the offer of a private conversation but it's very nice to feel like I matter. Particularly appreciate people letting me know they don't consider me some sort of troublemaker or extremist.
  18. Culture war stuff seems everywhere and just makes me feel increasingly misanthropic. I'm getting banned from topics simply for stating my feelings which makes me feel victimised. In turn it makes me just feel like I don't give a shit about people who I don't know unless they've shown they actually have empathy. I'd probably get banned if I named names (if this doesn't get removed) but there's a number of long term posters who I've basically completely lost respect for. Coupled with my general feelings towards football I wonder what the point of being here is. Does anyone feel that way too? I'm trying to work out if I'm just no longer in any way culturally aligned with this place or if other people feel the same way.
  19. Maybe they could release a patriots edition for £165.
  20. Appreciate the solidarity. The normalisation of transphobia in the space of a few years is terrifying.
  21. He's so obnoxiously self important.
  22. Sure. I'm not actually a member of the Lib Dems any more although I still help out the local party. Perhaps I should think of something to replace the bird of liberty. Just thought it funny to think that the centre-right would ever not be represented considering how politics in this country revolves around them.
  23. The Labour party welcomes right wingers.
  24. Sums up the British public really.
  25. If you took RB out the equation we would have a 6 way fight for the title between the mercs, ferrari and mclaren
