Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official

I hope he has an experienced assistant alongside him. Someone like Fred Rutten who was with him at PSV. Rutten has experience as a manager so hopefully he’ll be here as well. -

Genuinely think he’ll do well. See similarities with Southampton getting rid of Atkins and appointing Pochetino. Obviously it’s a risk but I see it as going for someone who we think will keep us up and kick on next season. Would have been very easy to go for someone like Robins and planning either way for relegation or stopping up. I like the positive approach. -

Go on Ruud. I think he’ll do well. Prove these willy puller pundits wrong. -
More risk with Carsley imo. RVN has the advantage with having some experience both at international and domestic level.
-
That’s not saying a lot when comparing anyone to Cooper.
-
Based on what? His only experience is at youth level with England and 3 games with the senior side where he had free range to do what he wanted. Domestically he’s got even less experience.
-
I just see Cooper all over again if we appoint him. A championship club should be where Carsley ends up.
-
Were we at this stage with Potter in the summer? Seemed like it was all but done and then within hours Cooper was announced. Just don’t want the same thing happening again and we panic and end up with Carsley.
-
No. We hired a championship level manager in Cooper the football under has been dreadful both tactically and no where near good enough. I’m prob doing a disservice to the championship it was that bad. Why shouldn’t we aspire to do better? Majority of pundits just want us to dis appear into mid table mediocrity in the championship after winning the premiership.

Ruud awakening for the Premier League!

Pundits watch 2 mins highlights a week of our games if we’re lucky and look at the league table and that’s all they go on. Says it all when Clinton Morrison said Cooper was a top coach and Merson said RVN was poor at PSV despite finishing second and winning 2 trophies. -
Ruud awakening for the Premier League!

Merson just said he was poor at PSV and only got the job because of his brief spell as interim man united boss. Clueless idiot. Yes it’s a risky appointment but I think he’ll do well. -
Hope everything is sorted smoothly tomorrow and RVN is announced. Don’t want a repeat of in the summer when it looked certain to be Potter then ended up with that clown Cooper hours later.
-
Great news. Hopefully the same impact as Alonso has had at Leverkusen. Now get rid of Rudkin and get Van der Sar in as director of football.
-
Did Glover work with Hassenhutl at Southampton? Hassenhutl and Benitez are the most unimaginable overseas coaches to contact just because they have pl experience.
-
So I live in hope that it could be Schmidt, Kovac, Fischer or Rudi Garcia. Having said that knowing us we’ll try and get Lampard.
-
Ffs. What will they do? They’ll have to do the unthinkable and look abroad. Which is what they should have done in the first place. Plenty of decent options readily available.
-
If it’s not Ruud do everything for any of Schmidt, Fischer, Kovac or Rudi Garcia.
-
100% agree. Same can be said when Leverkusen got Alonso.
-
Similar to the summer with what happened with Potter and then ending up with Cooper.
-
Would of preferred the more experienced readily available European managers - Schmidt Garcia Kovac etc but I certainly think RVD is a decent appointment
-
Let’s not forget it looked certain to be Potter in the summer then hours later Cooper was announced. We have history of fvcking this up.
-
I know it’s a while ago but I remember Southampton getting rid of Nigel Atkins and replacing him with unknown Pochettino. Imo it’s worth taking the risk with RVN.
-
I live in hope Terzic, Urs Fischer, Schmidt, Kovac, or Rudi Garcia come from nowhere today and are in the running at least.
-
I still think they’ll be another name come out today that’s not been mentioned yet.
-
Ok. Imo it doesn’t matter and have a feeling we’ll get someone who hasn’t got any pl experience like Corberan or very little like RVN.
