No sign of Trevaskis in the Challengers game the other day either. Bit of an odd signing considering we have an England under-19 spinner, but maybe he'll play some part as well. Theo Marshall got a run out in that Challengers game, so looks like he could be the next young seam bowler given a go.

I didn't realise this had shut down. I used to know Alex Webster, who was from Leicester and rode for GB, he at one point ran a bike shop in Town Hall Square. I was also in a taxi once with his brother Daryl Webster, who had been a more successful track cyclist and had ridden in the 1984 Olympics. Daryl, was driving taxis to make a living, but his life had taken a real downturn in general. This was all pre-lottery funding and the massive injection of support, that Daryl in particular would have benefited from.

McCullum sacked from the test side, keeps white ball coaching job. Not surprised, results had gotten much worse since he took on both jobs and Bazball looking a bit redundant and found out at test level.

Very promising. Three first innings wickets in the under-19 test against South Africa. Hopefully he'll bag a few more in their second innings. Must be ready for a few games in the 50 over cup.

Surely he's in breech of his contract if he's not turning up for training and we have a case for dismissal.

Certainly has the quality for L1, but very injury-prone is my general unresearched perception of him. So quite likely going to get kicked by big L1 defenders and then be out for more time than he plays. Ok if we also sign someone a bit more robust up front.

I think that could be right. They often talked about how calm he was.

You do start to wonder how much last season was down to Pete Handscomb. Obviously it's not that simple, there's lots of moving parts.

I take your point, but from my perspective, I would say that getting 500 extra on the gate for a Blast makes not a lot of difference in the long run. What they need is to make the ground into a resource that makes money most of the year and the current location with limits on parking and access is problematic for that. For example, Durham have just finished building a hotel on their ground and you could build modern conference and hospitality facilities, if you had a better location. Beyond that, if the vision had been there, maybe a multi-sport venue may have been possible with shared facilities.

Whatever your arguments here, recruitment has improved significantly in the last few years, largely down to appointing CH as DOC. Nicko was being asked to do too much at the time.

The long term problem is the location of the ground. Should have moved years ago to the Fosse Park Shopping Centre area, but I don't think there's the land now.
