Under-18s thrashing Yorkshire. Jay Madan 222 not out in the first innings, carrying his bat and currently 53 not out in the second. Look a good crop of prospects, Dean Headley's son in there as well. -

Glous with a good side out today, mostly their first XL and Cameron Bancroft. -

True, though I'm sure we'll give opportunities to Sam Wood and maybe Alex Green as the competition goes on. Important to start with a win. -

Rahane looks class -

Very decent. Great to see Budinger get some runs at last. If they keep going like this, Rahane might not get a bat. I think we are the only county playing today, who are fielding two overseas players. Certainly, nobody of the calibre and experience of Rahane, playing elsewhere. -

The Hundred hosting counties, which will be boosted by two expansion teams in the southwest and northeast, will all get a massive financial boost with their 51% stake in the Hundred franchise. They can keep or sell this off as they wish, but it will increase the financial gap between these teams and the rest. -

The online version of the Mercury is not a local newspaper in the way that the print version used to be. It is purely about revenue and which stories will get clicks. Therefore you have 5 or 6 stories about transfer rumours for City and rviews of burgers joints as these all get clicks. The old print newspaper had a basic remit for covering local news, politics, culture, history and local sport in quite a broad sense. Journalists like Martin Johnson and Jon Culley, started there and went on to work nationally, but the whole journalistic blueprint has changed. Personally I prefer 2024 as there are reports and articles on our games in multiple sources like Cricinfo, The Cricketer etc, that didn't exist in a pre-digital age. -

Just not enough power players in that top 4 and we are a seam bowler short really. We've got Salisbury and Wright on the staff but neither play the blast. Mike has one good game in a blue moon. If we aren't going to play Salisbury hopefully he'll be released and we can sign someone else. -

Great knock from Neesham, hopefully he can do the same in the last two games -

Putting up a flight; shame Kimber got out. -
If Italy are picking Scamacca for the national side, that's all you need to know about this guy who isn't in the national side.

Great performance from Sam Wood though, hopefully he can continue to make improvements. Apart from the overseas players and Ben Cox, it's a very young team, especially compared to that derbyshire side -

Really short on numbers if Wood and Walker are playing. -

Potentially a great signing, he can win games by himself. However, not been in great form recently, but generally just needs one good innings to turn it around. I remember going to watch county play Ireland in Dublin and he was playing darts with Harry Gurney in the bar as the game got washed out. We'd has quite a few pints of Guinness by that point. -
To an extent I agree, but realistically there's little in the coffers to change anything much unless there are going to borrow more. However, just a slight change of attitude and culture will be a relief.

It was hilarious, then he has to walk after it as well. -

If only we could sign these three loanees permanently. We're actually turning Scott Currie into an excellent player for Hampshire. -

Must be very favourable bowling conditions. Green back on loan, finally getting some wickets -

Brilliant signing, just what we need, some power hitting. Some useful overs as well. -

It's a good point about Kimber; he was able to attack the older ball in a way he hasn't at 3. -

375-7 at lunch. 89 needed to win. Kimber is 191 off 92 balls. He is on course for the second fastest double ton ever in all first class cricket. Current second fastest is 119 balls. -
