I think this is more or less what he is trying to do. Bilal and Buonanotte support the attacker whilst a McAteer for example plays wider so Buonanotte can tuck inside. But I agree with you, this leaves us exposed in the midfield. I’d like to see him give a back three a try, take a hit of the pressure off the midfield two, use the wingbacks as wide attacking players, and then Bilal and Buonanotte supporting the striker…. I agree Ruud needs to learn quickly, but if we can keep our heads above water until January we stand half a chance!

If you think football is as simple as that, then you’re sorely mistaken…… As a club appointing Cooper meant we abandoned everything we worked on last season, leading to a change in style….. so when Ruud comes in, the style changes yet again….. he has to be able to build a foundation to work from, what is your expectation? Play 4-4-2, bollock the ball up to two big strikers and hope for the best? Because hoping for the best is more or less what Cooper tried, and failed to do. With no method and no system you can’t even begin to improve, Ruud is trying to address the defensive issues by implementing a proper method and ideology. Playing two strikers isn’t going to change our defensive problems, how we play as a unit will.

He’s had just over two weeks to work with the squad. He is still learning about his squad….. the guy needs a chance to implement his ideas…… you can’t expect much after only three ish weeks……. Plus we’re never going to play two “strikers”.

If Ipswich beat Newcastle 4-1, we may as well ask the PL to relegate us now.

I don’t think you can rule Ipswich out of any game, especially at home. Just because they’d keep going at it like a dog with two dicks. But, if Newcastle turn up they win.
