I think he probably would actually providing the terms are right. Rafa just loves managing and more than anything else he wants a "project" he can get behind. His reputation has suffered since leaving Newcastle in 2019 and he's no longer seen as a massively desirable manager for PL jobs, so I think he'd happily drop down to the Championship at a club like Leicester with good infrastructure and potential for the future. Just depends on the financial elements of relegation and whatnot.

Leicester City V West Ham - Pre Match thread

Best of luck lads. -
If we lose to Brighton then we'll be extremely nervous facing you. We'd need two wins for top four and wouldn't surprise me if pressure gets the better of us.

Dean Smith New Interim Manager - Official

Getting Terry on board is probably the best news about this from your perspective. Villa declined notably when he left and he's likely to be the most important motivational figure now in the club. -
Just so you know, Bruce had no involvement at all in transfer policy while at NUFC. It was all done via Steve Nickson (head of recruitment) who is still there now working under Dan Ashworth. Rafa was afforded a lot more control. Some signings he got wrong but in general he did well having to wheel and deal. Almiron has turned into a good player - his best signing of all was probably Fabian Schar who only cost £3m and has been one of the best defenders in the league this season. Also, being able to sell Perez for such big money was down to his improvement under Rafa. He was our best player in 2018/19.

As a Newcastle fan, let me tell you he is terrible. Do not go near him.

I don't think they can truly null and void the league as some are suggesting (including Karen Brady - wonder why?) That would be even more of an outrage than the other options. What I think will happen is they'll finish the current season at whatever cost in a few months' time, even if it means using depleted squads and playing behind closed doors. They simply need to have promotions and relegations sorted in a way that is legal and fair.

From an outside perspective (NUFC fan here), it seems like you're doing something fairly similar to what Spurs have been doing where you lose some of your big players but manage to very astutely reinvest, all the while maintaining a core ideology and a good manager. Still, must be galling on some level to lose Maguire and then potentially Chilwell, but you seem on the up. I wonder if it's too early to say Maguire must be regretting moving so soon, given the state of Man Utd and Leicester's advancements?!

Hopefully Steve Bruce!

£30m sounds like a lot of money but that's the going rate really. Dominic Solanke was £20m, let that farce sink in. He's a really good player - and one who'll look even better in an attacking team.
-
He has played there before and on the right, but he's a forward and not a winger really. Best position would be as a number 10. He played on the right of a front three mostly last season where he had his best season for us.

The only thing worth considering here is I have no clue who is actually in charge of decisions now at the club with regards to selling players. We have no real footballing board, no director of football, so I'm not sure if Lee Charnley necessarily appreciates the value of Perez and is asking for the deserved amounts. Perez has always struck me as one of those consistently underrated players. Maybe you and your scouting team are capitalising on that, combined with the fact Rafa isn't there to veto.

Seems low but wouldn't surprise me given the shambles of an operation going on at our club.

He has two years left

Ha, thanks. No worries though - most fans are just numb to it now. The club is pretty much dead. Even seasoned ST holders are packing it in.
-
I can assure you that is absolute nonsense. Perez is quite clearly one of our very best players. He used to get a lot of unfair stick because we have been forced to play a defensive game for most of Rafa's time due to low investment, which meant the strikers receiving the brunt of abuse when games don't go our way. He has matured into a seriously good player, £15m would be an absolute steal.

Newcastle fan here. One of our best players. Very good technically, goalscorer too (12 last season in a sub-par team) even though he usually plays as a number 10, excellent close control - has the ability to just hold onto the ball while dribbling to navigate tackles to quite ridiculous extremes, you can probably see what I mean if you watch any of the internet compilations. Will fit in very well in a technical team like the one Rodgers seems to be building with you.

Newcastle fan here, absolutely shocked by this horrendous event and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it all night. Thinking of you all and most importantly the family/loved ones of those involved, what a tragedy.
