  1. No tram to Stockport. Used to live there. Massive train links though - Wales, east mids, west mids, London. General science is east/south east Manc is City territory while north, west and Salford are United.
  2. If he'd just kept his head down and got on with it, nobody would be batting an eyelid but the airport antics just leaves a sore taste in the mouth. Plus the behaviour of going on strike really irked everyone. Personally, I don't want him back. He was great for the time but we've moved on and learned from the experience. I wouldn't want to stand for a player pushing for a move like that again. You can keep that to the Man Uniteds of this world where a haircut and an Instagram post is more important than what you do on the pitch.
  3. Any attempts to stem the idiotic racist/ homophobic views by players are good. Going dark on Twitter is a good start but I think what it actually needs is for players - sometimes of both teams - to just walk off the pitch. However, as John Barnes said, it has to come from education and for society to make things better.
  4. I think, fundamentally, you have to look at it this way - Man City have all the money in the world and no need to sell so why would they let a hot young prospect go? - he forced a move to get guaranteed games - he's not good enough and they wanted to cash in while they could Unfortunately it's looking like option 2. It's great to be a poacher on the end of passes from Silva or DeBruyne but in other squads you have to work. Loan him out to get games and do damage limitation. The best young players aren't always the most skilled but they put in effort to keep the manager thinking of them. Has Kelechi REALLY shown that desire? Honestly think his career is all downhill from now.
  5. I have a soft spot for him. Aside from soft of his daft old man comments he comes across as a bloke who does it for the love of the game. He's also had terrible luck with clubs - QPR and Palace fiascos. Then the stuff with Sheffield Utd getting relegated even though West Ham should have been.
  6. This isn't a million miles away from me. I note the BBC article says he lives in Alderley, Cheshire which is about as far as you can get from Chelsea. Just shows how much he's valued if he lives up the other end of the country. Is he even turning up for training? Absolute waste to see that this is what it's come to. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-47864761
  7. He must know that other clubs and managers are now aware of his attitude and performances. He's a young lad with, potentially, another 12-15 years left at this game. You'd think he'd want to be playing his arse off to show future clubs he's worth giving the big bucks to. At this rate, even the Chinese and Saudi leagues wouldn't take him. My feeling is take the financial hit in summer and get rid. He's had 2 years and his stats are awful. He was given a fair crack at the whip before Christmas this year and scored once - against Huddersfield. Rather see one of the academy players take his place.
  8. I think we'll get him as he's got game time and he's young. Seems like a good fit transfer wise with a swap for Silva. But wouldn't expect him to stay past 2 years, if that. Could have another Kante situation.
  9. I actually wouldn't mind Liverpool winning it this year. It's good for the league to have variety. Of the top European leagues, only Ligue 1 has had more than 3 winners in the last decade - and even then PSG have buggered that up by becoming a money laundering operation in 2011. We've had 4 winners in the last decade and it's good that no single team has dominated since Ferguson left United. Plus I absolutely hate the idea of Pep winning all four cups. The smug sod.
  10. True but most of those blokes probably saw at least one World War, possibly two. Different breed of hardness back then. Make the likes of Duncan Ferguson and Roy Keane look like Neymar.
  11. Having watched the Sunderland documentary on Netflix recently I cannot put into words how much I don't want this man at the club. Tell the board it's required viewing before hiring him. Hopefully he's just trying to drum up interest for his services
  12. I actually really agree. I remember growing up when Derby, Forest, Coventry and Villa were all top flight. There is something special about having regional derbies.
  13. I don't know why, but I find his choice of alias to be the most hilarious thing about that.
  14. Kolo was a great defender on his day and played under some good, astute managers which should hopefully give him a good insight. Knows the English game well, too. Best of luck to all 3 and hope they can put their experience to good use.
  15. Absolutely gutted for the club. Their record signing but also for friends and family of both. My dad has made that journey a few times and while it's a fairly short trip over the water, you wouldn't want to go down in them. Sadly, as each hour goes by there's less chance of a good outcome. News saying they haven't seen a beacon or flare either.
  16. shame for Fulham but makes it VERY tempting to poach Mitrovich when they go down. though I suspect a top 6 club will look at him.
  17. I'd be really sceptical of Rogers or any manager that has spent a significant period in Scotland. Having lived up there the quality of football is pretty dire. Also - now that Gerrard is on the scene with Rangers, Celtic are just completely shitting the bed. It's not inconceivable that they finish behind Rangers, Killies and Aberdeen. Which would be nothing but disaster for the club.
