  1. Suspect there may be multiple clubs interested in him which should hopefully push the price up. Obviously Chelsea are favourites with the Enzo connection but Man United need a keeper and Ederson is increasingly injury-ridden so Man City could be an option. Wherever he goes I think he'll be a success. Seems to have a great mentality as well as the physical attributes for a modern keeper.
  2. I started going to the cinema during games a couple of months back. When that's not possible, I go to the gym. Now the cricket county championship has started up again I'm doing that instead.
  3. I could just about understand the BDCR signing as he was on a free and on paper looked to offer some useful Premier League experience in a number of positions. But the Ayew transfer looked insane at the time and even worse now. There is simply no way that paying 5 or 6 million for a 33 year old makes any sense, particularly with PSR rules as they are.
  4. We've had an Otty for about 7 years. Really good quality, no complaints at all. Still seems to have plenty of life in it and when we need to replace it we will probably get another Otty.
  5. Mallorca or Las Palmas (if they stay up) would be a lovely old job.
  6. Early in my career, prepared a briefing note on a politician my boss was meeting. Included an analysis of his approach to meetings, guidance on how to approach particular issues, loads of juicy gossip and rumours about his personal life. Accidentally sent it to the politician rather than my boss.
  7. A couple of months ago I was prepared to give King Power a chance to sort this out, move Rudkin aside and rebuild the non-playing staff. The utter malaise that has set in since our relegation was confirmed over a week ago has convinced me we need new ownership. Worse than making bad decisions, they now seem incapable of making any decision at all. Communication is non existant and connection with the fanbase has eroded. The club is sliding towards utter irrelevance without urgent change.
  8. Sun is out here now but there are some showers moving in from the west so if they hit Old Trafford that will be it I imagine.
  9. I live in Manchester so made the most of the lovely weather and popped down to Old Trafford yesterday. Thought Leicestershire look excellent throughout. Moving Ahmed up the order looks a masterstroke, he is obviously a confident lad and really set the pace at the start of the innings. Looks to be plenty of batting depth right down to Van Beek. It’s pretty miserable here today sadly so I’d be surprised if there is any play.
  10. I remember thinking when we'd won the league that our ambition should be to establish ourselves as the Leverkusen, Villarreal or Atalanta of the Premier League. Established top half sides that regularly qualify for Europe, built on foundations of a strong academy and positive connection between supporters and heirarchy. There's no reason this couldn't have been achieved, particularly after we'd built on 2016 by qualifying for Europa and winning the FA Cup. "There's no way we can compete with Man City, Liverpool etc" is a total straw man argument - no one thinks we can or should be trying to compete with them, but there's a level below that that is achievable for clubs of our stature and recent history.
  11. Great interview with Guy, well done lads. Thought it was a really good example of a phenonemon you see in many industries - institutionalised employees who have been in the same organisation or industry for several decades and can't see the wood for the trees. He couldn't prescribe any solutions to the problems we have because he is unable to identify and diagnose the issues in the first place.
  12. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
  13. Felt a sense of lightness going into this weekend. A weight off my shoulders. A spring in my step. Couldn't work out what it was. The weather, perhaps? The longer days? And then I realised. It's because Leicester City aren't playing this weekend.
  14. I have a passing interest in this stuff because of my job. The option leaving Rutland as a seperate council looks like a non-starter - it's too small. The North/South/City division looks more likely but where you draw the city boundary isn't straightforward.
  15. If Victoria Station in Manchester is anything to go by, that transparent roof will be filthy and grey within about 6 months.
