Sounds similar to us when trying to break into the top 4. Only a couple of poor signings away from falling away, as they don’t have the big 6 revenue to make mistakes.
-
Totally understand that logic and clearly he had too much influence but surely someone looking after finances should have spoken up? Spending more on wages than your revenue is an avoidable and human error that appears to have no consequences for those involved, that’s my frustration.
-
Not that I want to poke the bear but £4m was also the reported Corberan release clause 👀 (I know not that simple)
-
Our PSR breaches/losses are pretty damning information against our business model/planning to be fair mate.
-
The fact we had such a bloated wage bill with the bang average squad (that was what most were saying last season) surely just backs up the hideous job the board have done in recent years.
-
But you said that he’s matured in your original post without any context of why you think that. He won’t be our player in a few days time so seems a moot point.
-
Or he was playing in the Championship 👀
-
I think Ruskin is stupid for offering a nearly 32 year old CB (who has had one out three good seasons for us, whilst playing in the second tier) a three year deal now, let alone this time last year.

Great pod mate. I knew I hated bacon for an unknown reason 😜 -
If Soumare is the answer to avoid a relegation then I’ll eat my hat. I sometimes forget (wishful thinking) that he’s still contracted to us.
-
I’ve not been involved in any of that but 12 months ago was it not the same but in a complimentary way about how suave, good looking Enzo was? Sadly it’s part of everyday life, people commenting on social media about someone’s appearance and bigger than what happens on FoxesTalk.
-
2025 sadly mate 😢
-
To be fair that’s a great shout. I was probably being too optimistic but pictured us playing with a low block making him realize he’s not the next coming of VVD, his lack of pace when out of position always does it for me.
-
I think Wout has been at fault for more goals than even Amartey though in his time here. I’m really not Faes’ biggest fan and would happily let him go but I have a feeling he’ll be here next season so let’s see if a more pragmatic Cooper works better for Faes?
-
That was what I have been saying since the Potter talks fell through. Cooper was happy to publicly not question Forest and their mad owner at any time, Enzo rightfully called out Top/Rudkin and co about the set up above…..Cooper is just buzzing to be back in work, no other PL vacancies went his way (there have been a few, Brighton/West Ham etc). Worried about how this is going to pan out personally.
-
It boils my piss it really does. So they knew Potter’s Chelsea compensation with our finances might be a big stumbling block but once again produce such an unimaginative short list…..managers exist outside of the ones who have managed in England 🤬🤬
-
As a manager?! Playing 15 years prior is totally different IMO. I can see the “Agent Cooper” comments already when lost our first 5 games of the season.
-
Can anyone think of a recent manager who has an affiliation with a rival club to then be a success? My first names were Benitez at Everton and Poch at Chelsea….both failed to properly win over the fan base and seemed to be destined to fail from the beginning.
-
Which one is it? Your original post said that the manager is not as important as our summer recruits. Again, I wasn’t Enzo’s biggest fan but surely most would admit from a players perspective he’s a more exciting, upcoming manager than Cooper?!?
-
Couldn’t disagree more. Players play for their manager and whatever I thought of Enzo, they clearly loved playing for him. The moment players aren’t bought in/down tools then the inevitable happens.
-
Top post mate. I won’t lie, gutted if it is Cooper over Potter but your sentiment of cutting our cloth and bringing through the academy players is a silver lining. My only observation is the board doing the opposite and giving generously long, OTT wages to Hamza and Jannik in recent months.
-
Have we not heard what both Rodgers and a much more articulated Enzo said about our board set up? Changes were needed to be made but appointing someone like Cooper who was happy to coach the 101 players at Forest suggests an easier option has been taken by our weak AF leadership team.
-
Crazy comparison. Brighton fans wouldn’t take Potter back (70% voted on local rag) due to how he left and most importantly depleted the coaching squad and took a cult hero in Bruno with him.
-
His style seems very different to Enzo when watch that. 3/5 at the back with our lack of CB’s with pace seems sensible too.
