Slapping "Christmas Special" on the average to mediocre soaps and quiz shows you were going to broadcast any way does not redeem them!

And in another stroke of genius leadership, in circumstances where most of the England Test players were not playing county cricket, so did not get the benefit of familiarising themselves with the Kookaburra ball because the Duke's ball was used in all the home Test series this year.

Highest paid director at the ECB has a salary of over £700K according to the limited details provided in the accounts. May not be Key, but as Managing Director, he'll be there or thereabouts. He's had his 4 years to plan, his coach and captain of choice and this is what's he delivered. If this ends without us winning a single test he should resign, but he won't as keeping this kind of well remunerated job despite failing to deliver one of your main objectives as what men like him ensure they get and ensure that they keep hold of. That becomes their main objective and on that they deliver for themselves time and time again.

At least they've put forward McCullum for an interview. That's the good news. The bad news is that he seems to think that it's largely a case of just needing to "iron out a couple of kinks". Bit of a harsh way to describe a couple of the batsmen I'm thinking of....Still maintaining that the prep has been faultless and if anything they've overtrained, obviously forgetting that three extra days training became available because they missed three hard days of actual test match playing. Acknowledged that they'd scrapped well at the end, but again fails to see that that was appropriate game management that was lacking through the over three days. In his interview, Stokes has come closer to grasping that it is getting those moments and reacting in the right way, the mentality in the pressure moments, so may be there is a sliver of hope after all. I think the dressing room conversation would be well worth hearing, but Stokes has rightly said he's not saying that other than in the dressing room and to players, and I've no problem with that.

"stretching but achievable goals" the Weasel whispered, weeping quietly.

Got a bit depressed thinking that if this is any guide to what the coverage of the tournament is like, then that's next summer ruined. Then I perked up and remembered I have a boat to paint. I will literally be watching paint dry and it will be a vast improvement on this.

I've just tuned in (thought I'd give the first two hours a miss). I have never, ever seen anything so bad in all my life. I've been a fair while on this earth now, and I thought I'd seen a reasonable amount of truly terrible tv, but this is beyond Eurotrash levels of terrible. And is there anyone in the audience, or was that banned under the Geneva Convention?
