Point is a fine result but given the context obviously frustrating. Subs killed the game but I get they can’t always play 90 mins. Iheanacho is a waste of a squad number
They’re at home in front of their fans. I can only see them sticking to their usual way of playing, maybe a tad more cautious after the last game. This is honestly a game where there’s more pressure on Ipswich than us imo. If we turn up and batter them you do wonder what that’ll do to them moving on. I reckon we’ll end up having too much for them in the end but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something like 3-2/4-2
Now we’re at the half way point I’ve been looking at recent Championship tables. We’re currently on 19 wins from 23 games. That’s more than 19 teams managed in the whole of last season, Luton who ended up getting promoted won 21 games in total!
Since the 13/14 season the teams who’ve finished in the play off spots have got anywhere from 18 wins to 26 wins. We’re already on 19.
Looking at teams who’ve gone up automatically the lowest amounts of wins in the last 10 years was West Brom in 19/20 who finished 2nd with 22 wins
Obviously this isn’t a normal championship season so will probably need a few more wins than normal but our start has been remarkable
Don’t think this games needs to be overanalysed. Any result had its positives for us. Ipswich will now go into the game on Boxing Day under a bit of pressure
Rotherham have got a bit of an injury crisis at the moment too. 5 who started against us in the away game are out. Both CBs, Cafu in midfield, both wingers including the one who scored. Ayala also suspended
