Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?
99 Problems replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
And we’re back full circle. No one knows Claudio - so why take such a huge gamble when we are in our most precarious position for over a decade? That’s the point you seem to missing over and again. -

Yep cos if we don’t hire Maresca we have to go with Smith right? Literally there’s no one else across the spectrum of European football. Well done mate you’ve smashed it on here this afternoon . Case closed - no arguing with those logic bombs -

He might be strongly influenced by Pep but he might also not have what it takes to be a manager. This is the same bonkers logic that leads clubs to hire managers like Lampard because they’ve won loads of stuff as players and they seem like leaders. Theres a hell of a lot more to management than your style of play. What are his leadership qualities like? How does he interact with players? Can he make the right tactical subs when needed? Has he ever had to recruit players? No one knows because he’s managed 14 games in total. It’s a ridiculous gamble we don’t need to take. Hiring someone who is part of someone else’s back room team doesn’t mean you’re going to get the same kind of result -

So your whole counter argument in favour of Maresca is to point out that no one knows much about him. That’s it? On that basis, you’re happy to take a risk on a guy that has managed 14 games in his life (before he got sacked). I highly doubt you or the club would even be entertaining the idea if he wasn’t associated with Man City in some way. It’s a stupid gamble and this has nothing to do with Dean Smith. It’s not as if we only have the choice of two is it? -

“I am no fan of Rudkin, however what I will say is if we actually appoint Maresca it will prove 100% we do actually have a plan/strategy and actually if that strategy is built on emulating how Man City play then in fairness its a great team to emulate” You’ve got to be kidding right? You seriously think going for Man City’s first team coach now we’re in the championship in a vain attempt to emulate Burnley constitutes a plan? Why? Because he sits next to Pep on a match day - so hiring him now means we’re going to play like they do? This guy has no experience of management other than a rotten 14 game stint at Parma. There is no evidence he can build a squad. We don’t know how well he can implement his tactics and ideas because he’s never done it. Emulating how City play takes a lot more than nabbing one of their coaching team. -

So far we’ve approached Smith, Shakey and then John Terry. That was before Rudkin realised they were part of the same team and already employed by the club -

Get Carlos Corberan in. Probably one of the most straightforward decisions ever. Leeds are already lining up an approach while we’re wasting time chasing Potter and preparing to settle for Smith -
The fans will continue to accept it so it will continue to happen

He wasn’t here for the last 2 months. Ample time to get out of the mess. We were down the moment we sacked him without a plan. He should have gone in October and we waited until there was only 10 games left and put a caretaker duo in charge for 2 of them. This club is a broken mess and until the fans realise it will slide into oblivion

They were fine. They know it’s only a matter of time before Faes scores an own goal
-
Bournemouth are awful. God knows how they stayed up. Oh yeah of course they beat us twice
-
Can’t stand KDH. Awful player. No idea why Smith is playing him in a must win
-
Ah yes of course. When you’ve supported a club for over 70 years you have a calm and clear perspective that people who have supported the club for 60 years for example, just don’t have. Don’t even get me started on fans who have only supported the club for 50 years - they don’t even know they’re born they’ve had it so easy. Back in your day you used to have to turn up to Filbert Street at 4 in the morning to get entry for 3pm kick off. They used boat oars as turnstiles so you used to get knocked unconscious when you handed your ticket in. Players used to kick a ball made out of ham and the weather was so cold that sometimes fans died of hyperthermia. When they did they were thrown into a massive burial pit dug out on raw dykes road which also doubled up as a children’s home

That’s a ridiculous generalisation. I’ve been going since since the late 80s and have seen it all. I’m very vocal about the direction the club is headed in. I’ve seen us plummet the depths of the championship and league one and have no desire to go back there. what makes this impending relegation so painful is that it was entirely avoidable. I don’t accept it’s just part of the other side of supporting a smaller club - we’re not destined to get relegated, it’s happened because there’s been awful decisions made. And the worst thing for me are the fans accepting it with a whimper because we’ve had ‘:a great ride’

Who was talking about individual signings? I have no idea why you’ve taken the thread in that direction. Jon Rudkin doesn’t individually scout and recruit players and never has. This is a thread about Rudkin and his role as DoF. You’ve come on here saying no one knows what he does, what Whelan does and what the other execs do when it’s been written about extensively - both following our title win and in the last 2 seasons Why on earth that’s got anything to do with who decided to sign Verstergaard I’ve no idea. We have a recruitment network, a first team manager and a head of recruitment that are all part of a 3 man decision making process - that’s been discussed at length as well. Go and find the articles - I’m not doing it for you What this thread is about is Rudkins role as Director of Football. Look him up and you’ll get an overview of what that role entails

I’m bookmarking this post for a years time Top also said he wasn’t spending money in the summer of 2022 to make Leicester a sustainable club that can push for European football and close the gap by increasing its commercial revenue. Top was talking absolute rubbish as it turns out. Also the conversion of debt to equity was nothing more than a housekeeping exercise - he was never getting the money back in any case. I think some fans are in for a huge shock next season. A huge shock
