  1. In spite of their chairman bankrolling promotion? And then bankrolling them to stay up? Real fairytale stuff eh! im sure people rewrite things to suit their agenda!
  2. Daniel Taylor is very cosy with Steve Cooper and has a dislike of their board so will tone articles in this manner (any inside info out of forest goes to John Percy rather than Taylor). I mean what manager doesn’t look to improve? And he was hardly batting away jobs too good to turn down.
  3. Much is made of the “appalling board’. they financed the promotion season and financed them staying in the league. They’ve also massively improved the club off the pitch and have plans for a ground improvements/new ground and training ground. nothing has ever suggested they interfere with team selections etc and it perhaps isn’t unreasonable the board wanted a better return than what they were getting. a huge bit of luck and forests home seige mentality kept them up first season and he was taking them down second season. Cooper isn’t getting that level of support from our fans. I appreciate people will try to kid themselves it’s a good appointment but it really isn’t. It’s simply the cheap option.
  4. What a load of shite.
  5. I’m not convinced why people think Cooper is flexible? He played pretty much the same formation all the time for Forest once he realised 3 at the back didn’t work. His main tactic was to get the ball to Johnson and hope for the best. They were never convincing and their crowd got them through due to being first year up. Even when they beat us we should have been out of sight if Barnes could have finished twice. The board eventually got rid when it was apparent it wasn’t working for a second year (only fan power kept him there and was for what he did in getting them rather then PL form). 2 away wins in 1 and a half seasons speaks for itself. as for youth, he didn’t really get them involved and even his younger signings like Williams and Hudson-Odoi only excelled once he had gone.
  6. Cooper literally learnt his trade with the FA. how anyone would want Cooper over Potter is beyond me.
  7. If we get Cooper we aren’t playing out from the back. 3 years is madness.
  8. Are you suggesting Cooper is a better manager than Potter based on that?
  9. You can spin things however you like. If you are happy with this appointment then that’s fine. But absolutely nothing suggests he is a successful PL manager. As ever time will tell. Forest drastically improved under Nuno and also got the 4 points knocked off. They were far less negative. And I know it was funny at the time but they really were done by decisions that easily puts another 4 points on their total.
  10. Swansea fans weren’t bothered to see him go, they were sick of him touting for other jobs. I think you are forgetting they’ve had Martinez and Potter in recent years, they won’t be craving for Steve Cooper
  11. Their fans are stupid. They only love him as he got them up and then failed to see any faults. He’s not a PL manager as sadly we will find out.
  12. That’s fine as he won’t be in post for 9 months. hes a championship manager. no one should kid themselves that the only reason we will appoint him is because he’s cheap and no compo needs to be paid.
  13. He’s not going to be developing young talent. Most of those are from his England youth coaching days, of course he’s going to have some footprint on them due to his job but he’s not developing anyone here. in fact in the Prem he was reluctant to play younger ones (apart from Johnson who couldn’t be ignored). Hudson Odoi and Neco Williams only got played and decent after he left. this is just a cheap option, I can’t see it ending well at all. His football at forest was terrible and just two away wins ever in the PL says a lot.
  14. I really hope it isn’t Cooper. i know the forest fans found it hard to let him go, but that’s more because he got them up after two decades out the top flight. A championship manager, not for me at all.
  15. I was there as a Harborough fan and that’s a great summary. I didn’t really fancy our chances having lost to Anstey this year, but they did the job.
  16. Nice to be optimistic but we are going to have to raise money from sales on promotion so recruitment would have to be like something we have never seen before to be competitive. we also have lower losses for this season in the EFL. we look pretty ****ed.
  17. I hadn’t realised we were quite so bad with FFP that it could lead to a points deduction but have been saying for a while to those laughing at Forest and Everton the rules are going to hurt us. There won’t be a lot to spend at all on promotion,.
  18. Exactly, it’s the nature of football even at this level and still have to do well to get it out the players. They have the budget and have forwards Malone and Tongue out for a while so why wouldn’t they strengthen when promotion is a real possibility. Luis Rose looked good on debut and scored, he did used to play for Harborough so knows the club. Also great to see Luca Miller back from Kettering.
  19. Harborough Town v Hinckley LR at the Beehive later. 1st v 4th. Adults for a fiver, get yourself down if nearby.
  20. We will get promoted at a canter, no need to panic at all. next season concerns me though, relatively little to spend (allowable loss is £63m for this year due to being in champ unlike other PL clubs who have £105m). so we will have to buy extremely well as this squad is no where near good enough.
  21. Bit odd we are so concerned about relatively small figures for FFP given the accounts aren’t submitted until the end of June.
  22. I don’t think this is at all true, unless you can long me to the figures? Plus they have just made a £20m profit on Mangala. You seriously think they wouldn’t get more than £25m for Gibbs-White? and Awoniyi is a proven PL scorer now, a right handful and cost them about £15m They would make a huge profit on him. i want them to fail as much as anyone but little point in being deluded about it.
  23. Exactly. That’s where Forest went wrong though as they did breach but only for a few weeks as they held out for a bigger fee for Johnson. But they are back comfortably within the losses now. And as I said before this season will really hurt us as we can only lose 63m rather than 105m like PL clubs. let’s be honest the whole FFP thing is a farce designed to keep the smaller clubs less competitive. im concerned our finances are as tight as they are. Makes keeping onto KDH difficult as homegrown players count as pure profit to FFP.
  24. We got good money for Barnes and a lesser extent Maddison (but he had only a year left). Wishful thinking that they wouldn’t get good fees for those players. (Not even mentioned Elanga and Danilo). . They aren’t even currently in breach of FFP having got just under £50m for Johnson. It was for a few weeks in the summer whilst they waited for a higher bid for him.
  25. Why would Forest be in loads of trouble? They’ve just loaned/sold Mangala for £33m and there would be at least £150m for Gibbs-White, Murillo and Awoniyi.
