When their celebrity chefs begin recipes with canned soup (green bean casserole basically being green beans cooked in mushroom soup) or cake mixes that it boggles the mind.

Why did they need to immobilise the car? It was somebody annoying them, not somebody they were investigating. The in the video you just see the car and people outside, I haven't seen anything of the inside fortunately, that's not the sort of thing I would watch. It's more a video from mid range. And very obviously didn't need to be shooting into the car.

South west weather warning has just been upgraded to red with hurricane wind speeds expected 😬

Bear in mind these are ice agents, not police officers. They're there to pick up suspected foreign criminals. They were annoyed at her as she was blocking the road and all got out to tell her to get out of her car. Not sure if they have any legal jurisdiction. She drove off and one officer just quickly drew his gun and fired into the car, no real aiming, no time for thinking, he just killed her. Doesn't seem what ice are supposed to be doing. Also, a medic was nearby and the ice officers refused to let him see the woman, denying her any possibility of life, even though it was likely too late.

Never been there, do they not have just normal fruit, veg etc in supermarkets?

So couple of things said and done by the trump administration that I actually agree with: - trump has declared war on corporate landlordism and home ownership - RFK has changed food safety advice to say that whole foods etc should be eaten and that added sugar is bad. Very obviously correct and kinda amazing America is recognising it.

Personally, culture can't be measured. No culture is inherently better or worse, they're all just different. With western values you can look at some culture's treatment of women and complain, but you have to forget about our own historic treatment of women. Other cultures might point towards our economic system and willingness to treat the poor like scum (the way the homeless are treated or how benefit recipients are talked about). Our historic links to all sorts of bad things exist, we don't live in a bubble. Cultures are just different. You can't measure them. You look at other cultures through the lens of your own.

Equally some are denying reality. It took less than 24hrs between your denial that America was threatening Greenland militarily, before America very publicly confirmed that it was threatening Greenland militarily.
-
It's not. You're pretending black and white exists where it doesn't. There is nuance. Both people have a point.

It is a bit bizarre that people can pass a test in a rural area with about three roads and then be expected to drive absolutely fine at night, in the rain, on a major motorway. A better plan for learning doesn't sound like a bad thing at all.

Interesting and fair point made I guess

Such a depressing list of has-beens anyway.
-
There's a sort of Americanisation on the right where you hear a lot about socialists/commies/libs/woke/snowflakes etc
-
This is probably fair. Reform and the Tories imitating reform (let alone labour imitating them at times) has taken over what we see in the media so the political conversation ATM does feel very all or nothing.
-
At the moment though there is a lot of discourse on the right that would have always been considered far right. Swathes of the reform platform are almost identical to BNP policies. But apparently nobody is supposed to talk about these things being far right.

It's getting to the point I almost want wba to score

Given where we are there's no point hoping for it. Not sure we can afford to sack him by the looks of it.

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the utd news. Imagine knowing getting Leicester promoted means you're good enough for Chelsea and utd

Also: Greenland's Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen responded by saying "that's enough now" and described the notion of US control over the island as a "fantasy". He said: "No more pressure. No more insinuations. No more fantasies of annexation. We are open to dialogue. We are open to discussions. But this must happen through the proper channels and with respect for international law." Earlier, Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had said "the US has no right to annex any of the three nations in the Danish kingdom". Frederiksen added that Denmark "and thus Greenland" was a Nato member and covered by the alliance's security guarantee, and said a defence agreement granting the US access to the island was already in place. Your pretence that this is all normal diplomacy is a bit laughable, let's be honest.
-
Is this a joke? Denmark is a friendly NATO member. Denmark and Greenland have been very clear they gave no intention to give Greenland to the US yet still Trump talks about the US needing it, directly refusing to say this couldn't occur militarily. The reason democrats don't get criticized for this sort of nonsense it's that they don't engage in this sort of nonsense. You've mentioned UK media being left wing, it's not remotely. You've got the guardian and sometimes the mirror which lean left. Independent is centrist. The rest are all right wing (telegraph, express, mail, sun etc). The right wing papers above are all in hoc with the republicans and criticise the democrats. When it comes to TV, there's a requirement for neutrality which holds for most channels which are actively centrist - they have Corbyn as good a kicking as Boris - except for GB news which seems to get away with being massively one way. The reason trump makes headlines on neutral channels is because he operates so outside the norms and conventions we're used to. Plus, he does and says really daft things, lying constantly in the process.

The Venezuelan move appears to have positively impacted the stock markets.... Babcock and other defence stocks are up EEE and other mining operations also up. EEE at 47p currently.

It would be quite a thing in the US if the UK, one of its closest allies, told them straight that their behaviour is akin to a rogue state.
