The squad is an issue. Last time in the Championship we had KDH and Vardy who combined for 30 goals together. We are missing true goalscorers. Daka and Caranza look useless. Ayew is not a goal machine. We simply don't have the goals in the squad. However, with that being said, there is either a lack of backbone, confidence or belief in this squad that is down to Marti. He either can't get them to see how they can win in his system, or his system doesn't suit the players he has, and he needs to make a change and fast. Overall Marti's approach is so predictable, I watch each game and its always about getting the ball out wide, trying to come in, it's just not working, we need to be faster in transition and more direct.

Realistic Managerial Replacements

Ange Ball here we come...just kidding. Maybe? -
I like Marti, however, I think the burden of proof is on whether or not there is any evidence suggesting that we should keep him going forward. Its not the other way around. His approach is not working. We are slowly sliding down the table into a place that is going to be hard to come back from if something doesn't change. I would genuinely love to hear people's thoughts on the evidence why he should be kept if that's what you think - because I think the stats and the performances don't back up him staying as our manager.

Millwall (A) 15:00 Sat 25th, Pre-Match

Agreed. He's thrown all of this cards on the table, this is the best lineup we have. This is Marti trying to save face. -
Agreed. I think its academic now. As much as I hate it, they are the best side in the Championship right now. I wish Leicester had just some of the confidence in front of goal they have.
-
Does it though? I get that the buck stops with the owners but they have paid a manager to do a job, he needs to do that job. Marti has a much more direct impact on the team performance than the owner. Indirect, sure. But Top isn't the one making the lineup choices.
-
Agreed. The physicality of prime time Ndidi is something we are missing in our midfield. Someone who can almost cover for the back line and give them that extra bit of protection. I'm glad that Cifuentes sees that there are some footballing basics that are being missed by this group, but he needs to do something about it to hold credibility in my book. Honestly think its a case of you can't teach old dogs new tricks. We need to vet the younger players - they are blank canvas for the footballing philosophy Cifuentes wants. I wouldn't mind us finishing midtable if it was with a group of younger players, building experience, developing a philosophy and a style of play, and giving our team character. We are the most character-less football squad. Vanilla ice cream literally has more character.

He needs to play our younger players. Would rather fail to get promoted playing our younger upcoming talents and get them experience than relive last season just in the championship. His achilles heel is that he’s so afraid to lose that he starts “experience” over potential and yet it’s the very thing that leads to us losing, cause let’s be fair a draw is a loss of points its not a win. He either pivots and starts playing young players or his days are numbered at the club bc I think most of us are sick of what we see on the pitch.
-
Agreed. Maybe not his job, but his reputation with the fan base. Its games like these where you see promotion slowly slipping away and he's starting Ayew, Faes, Daka and Choudhury.

As they say here in the South, "that'll preach"
-
If Marti doesn't make serious substitutions after this half and it we don't go on to win 3-2 I will be Marti out. Had enough of the draws. Had enough of the anemic playing of a team that should be putting the Championship to bed. Marti should be improving the team over time, this team's shelf life is up, its rotten.
-
Not convinced Marti is actually doing any "thinking" - this line up is a shambles. Prime time RVN stuff right here.
-
Someone make this lineup make sense. Marti out.
-
Daka and Faes in the same team...is Marti trying to sabotage this season?
-
Anyone surprised???

Hull (A) Tue 21 Oct - Pre Match
CarolinaFox replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
If Faes plays it will be at best a 1-1 draw. Faes will do what he does best: lose his balance and let someone easily score, lose his cool and commit a stupid foul or penalty, or some combination of both. I will be pleasantly surprised and happy to be wrong about this. Suspect our only goal comes from Jordan James or Fatawu with another wonder strike. Hull will sit back, let us have possession and look to hit us on the counter. Marti will again try to go wide, which will play into Hull's game plan and most of the game will be Jordan Ayew or Caranza dropping deep to pick up the ball, place it wide to Fatawu or Monga. It will be slow with little to no direct play. There, do we even need to watch the match now? -

Any iteration of our team with Faes in it is effectively a 10 man team. -
LCFC 1-1 Portsmouth - Post Match Thread
CarolinaFox replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
Both are the problem. The biggest problem though is probably goal scoring. Across 10 league games we've scored 14 goals. When we only average 1.4 goals a game it means that when our dog garbage defending (looking at you Faes) lets us down, getting the draw is our best outcome - because we aren't scoring enough to get the win. Goals was always going to be our biggest issue, but Wout Faes is the gift that keeps giving, opening us up to the counter. Why is this a common theme? Teams have figured out our weakness. If we score first they know there is a statistical likelihood that we won't score another goal to put the game to bed. They just need to be diligent, focus on hitting us on the counter and Faes will inevitably gift them an opportunity. -
An in-form striker and a reliable centre-back (anyone is literally an improvement over Wout Faes). In terms of a striker I'd like to see us bring in someone in form. I don't care if they are from a lower league or a smaller european league, I just think we need someone with confidence in front of goal and not someone who is looking to improve their profile by coming here or winding down their career by coming here.
-
My biggest criticism is Faes starting, or really being in a Leicester shirt at all. I guess Marti must think he fits his system best but his poor positioning on the ball and inability to think under pressure have cost us two games and almost cost us vs. Swansea. Faes is a liability on defense and the biggest weakness in our team right now.

Swansea 1-3 LCFC, post match thread

Agreed. Faes is such a liability at this point that I don't see any advantage in having him in the team. He's always been a loose canon, reckless and sometimes just straight up brain dead. For me he makes too many silly mistakes to be in the squad as a starting player. Ben Nelson didn't cover himself in glory the last time he was in the team and I get why Marti might be cautious to include him. Maybe if we get a good run of wins we will see him integrated back into the team. Right now this team looks very unsettled, having really good spells in games and then periods where they drop off entirely. If the team can iron out its inconsistencies I would hope Marti will reconsider because I think Ben's ceiling is much much higher than Faes. -
Hate to say any game is a must win but…this game feels like a must win. At least for fan and player confidence. I fear that if Marti doesn’t win this his days at the club may be numbered.
-
Coventry highlighting how important it is to have goal scorers. When you look at our squad we don’t have the goal production numbers we need to push for promotion. We have to strengthen in January and get some proven goal scorers.
-
Our need for a good striker isn't helping Marti at all. Daka had several opportunities to score and missed. January window will truly decide the trajectory of this season. We need reinforcements up top.
-
Not fit enough, nowhere near enough proven goal scorers in the squad.
