What does a good season look like?
CruzNoir replied to Sol thewall Bamba's topic in Leicester City Forum
None other than promotion surely? You can get nit picky on the added extras like promotion with style, promotion with a certain points tally, promotion with a certain win streak, promotion by winning the league etc I’m certainly not saying all that doesn’t matter, as it would obviously be nice to have all of that bringing a sense of optimism going back into the championship, but just promotion is what we need, we cannot be languishing in League One, not a Club of our size with the potential financial hurdles we could be facing if we do it is the perfect time though to build up some obviously much needed momentum and for Russel and hopefully a fresher looking side to hit the ground running and start galvanising a portion of unity within the Club it has to be a strong start but that’s not to say it won’t be easy -
Toxic club - an inconvenient truth about our fans

Your username suggests you are actually telling the truth -
Careful you’ll be accused of being on the board soon It’s not what I was hoping for this appointment, but I agree entirely with what you said. With the variety of options out there I think it’s fair to say we could have surely found a more promising prospect.
-
I’m not the one crying about Russels impending appointment I think people thinking it’s going to be the end of the club need to calm down
-
ok Then we’ll just have too disagree won’t we
-
What stand and seat you in? I’ll come and sit with you if you like for a much needed chat
-
Did his job then? Granted we’ve got Top and Rudkin but look at our squad start of the season, look at our expenditure. Yet we blasted our way to the bottom, money is needed but it’s not the only essential ingredient for promotion. I don’t want Russel, I’ve made that abundantly clear, but the hypocrisy of fans running away with themselves sometimes is baffling (not you personally) “don’t like him so his promotion season was a nothing achievement” whilst then arguing in the pub the championship is the hardest league in world football to be promoted out of couldn’t make it up
-
So it was easy?? I get what your saying but none of that makes it an easy achievement, we see all the time teams with excellent squads, or Premier League Parachute payments not bouncing back. It just nonsensical to discredit it
-
You can’t be serious?? Everyone, literally everyone always say how bloody difficult getting out that damn Championship is to the promise land, wether automatically or through play offs, yet because you don’t like Martin your just going too by pass that achievement? And claim it as nothing?? Give over Don’t like his style of play fair enough, done terrible everywhere else he’s been fair enough, thrown players under tanks and don’t like his persona bla bla bla yeh that’s fine, that can all be said. Don’t discredit a factual decent achievement though just because you don’t like him. Let’s hope he gets the support he needs on the rebuild from the new SD, and that atleast it’s going too be started earlier than expected if he’s to be confirmed this week.

Some people’s anger completely blinds them to this perspective you rightfully bring up
-
I mean, he’s been abit of a car crash since he got Southampton promoted, however…he does have that promotion on his cv in a league most would argue is probably the hardest league in the world to get out of, and he’s done it. His competency is still probably riding on that fact.
-
You might not eat your words but you know full well many will come on ffs you know how many fans operate I can’t say I’m satisfied with Martin appointment if it gets confirmed, personally Challinor is literally for the taking or we should have moved quicker on Skubala, 2 options I’d have preferred But if it’s to be Martin then it is what it is I’m afraid isn’t it
-
What part of that is fairy land?? I didn’t say “he’s going to win League One or definitely get us promoted” did I? Just that in the fanciful event the opposite happens, those crying about the appointment now will be waving their Martin banners at the end of the season its just what we do
-
Probably bit also flipping that view point, if for example Martin wins us the League One title or gets us promoted let’s say (regardless to how fanciful that is), will those currently disgusted at this appointment be cheering and clapping Martins name at the end of the season, I bet they will be #fickle springs to mind I wanted Challinor by the way, I guess we just see how this goes is all we can do
-
It would certainly be a masterstroke I just don’t believe many would believe Top being capable of such masterstrokes, understandably so I guess, look at the mess we are in. But I feel what you say here is at the very least “plausible” from my own personal opinion. And I guess the only way we’ll find out is after a certain amount of time has passed. I have heard just the other day though that we are genuinely interested in Russel and have actually spoken to him, which doesn’t excite me I have to say, doesn’t mean we are getting him so I’m still hopeful for other managers we are linked with, but yeh that was disappointing to hear. If it is to be Russel and through McCarron’s choosing, what if they are a partnership that ends up just working? Russel has certain needs to help aid him, what if the managing up too McCarron is the click he needs to aid him? Perhaps McCarron feels their vision are in tune and aligned and could actually be a really good partnership? In truth I just hope it’s not him, but in case it is him, I’ve got to put myself in some sort of hopeful mindset on the new guy in McCarron. I think Dave Challinor would be my go to at this stage but I dare say he’s pretty sort after at the moment with some pretty big links flying around, but I do believe we are trying with him also.

So Mr Pep, as you’ve been insanely successful at the top end with inordinate amounts of money too utilise , we’d like to offer you an opportunity to be a success but starting at the bottom with almost no money to utilise Take your time too think about it, Rudkins still on holiday until August anyway so no rush you couldn’t chip in for the running cost at Seagrave by any chance could you, I’ll owe you one I promise
-
When you put it like that Can we sign him up now please, exactly what we need
-
it’s on SSN now

Arne Slot is free now….

I’ve been wondering the same tbf I can’t say I’ve ever paid much attention to the bloke as a personality but I’m aware of clubs where he’s tanked them, but also I’m aware he’s got a promotion on his cv too So I to would be interested in the hatred towards him, I can understand dislike of his managerial credentials and style perhaps, so I’m intrigued as to where the hatred stems from? and for the record, I wouldn’t be overjoyed with the appointment looking into what he’s done at other clubs regardless of his Southampton promotion success.
