Lack of game management once we miss chances in the first place, which comes down to poor mental strength. It's an intangible, granted, but there's something to be said for delivering in key moments. Look at golfers, for example. The best golfers aren't necessarily better ability wise, they're just equipped with the mental know-how to deliver when the pressure is on. For years now, we have shown severe shortcomings in this area. Again, it's difficult to quantify, but I can't accept at this point that we just so happen to come out the wrong side of bad luck when push comes to shove. You make your own luck in sport. I can accept that in isolated games the rub of the green can go against you, but it's every game we lose or drop points.
-
Poor Leicester City were unlucky again. Come on mate, I know you're always glass half full, but you have to realise that after so many occasions of suffering bad luck, maybe something else is at play.
-
Yep, we should have. That's what makes it even more frustrating, and even more worrying looking forward. We have the ability to be really good, but we're lacking street smarts. It's worrying. The likes of Dyche has built a career out of keeping teams up almost entirely on that. Again, we can't rely on outplaying teams every week in the PL. People will say let's not worry about next season until we're promoted, but I can't help but feel we're doomed to failure if we get to the promised land.
-
True, but the best teams kill those games off. Be that through taking more chances or slowing the game down. We do neither.
-
I still think we will go up, but I put that down to the points gap and our ability relative to most teams in this division. I am sick and tired, however, of our inability to turn up in key moments, hold teams off in the final stages of games, and missing chances when it matters most. There's only so many times it can happen to accept it's bad luck. It's mentality.

Could not care less. Not going to win the competition, this is an annoying distraction.
-
That was a long, long time ago. When's the last time we won a big game?
-
You're right, but you have to ask yourself why this always seems to happen to us at the moment. Once or twice is bad luck. Every game we lose you can say the same thing. We don't take our chances and we crumble under pressure. It bodes really badly for next season when we're not going to have Millwall and Birmingham to dick every other week.
-
The one on which we crumble under any pressure.

Got away with a short back pass and was bailed out. Followed it up with an assist for their striker. Ultimately our shortcomings are in both boxes right now. Not taking chances and cockups at the back. He's a good passer of the ball, but too many opposition chances come from his mental lapses.

I know Vestergaard has been great this season but that tonight confirms for me we can't persist with him next season. Mistake waiting to happen given the opportunity.
-
We don't take chances when it matters, and we don't have it in us to hang on when we miss them against anyone decent. We may well go up this season still, but these traits mean we'll go straight back down unless something changes. Mentally frail. The opposite of clutch. Infuriating to watch.

Distinct lack of bottle.

Take. Fvkcing. Chances. Same every week at the moment. Criminal. Perfect away performance and then crumble when the chances aren't taken. Worrying pattern.
-
How many double deflections can we concede in one season? Unbelievable.
-
How many games are we going to squander opportunities to put games to bed? Infuriating. They had nothing and from nowhere it's 2-1.
-
Think you might be referring to the Vestergaard miss that Comms, for some reason, called as McAteer.
-
I can only think of the one incident, so unless this happened during a blip in the stream, it didn't hit his hand. There was a big appeal and there was a replay shown.
-
It hit his chest haha. Have you seen the replay?
-
Was watching on a stream and have seen a slow mo replay, it was his chest.
-
Wasn't hand ball. Still a sh!te ref though.
-
Well we'd had 11 first half. You can't blame the style of play for players not hitting the target.
-
We had 24 shots, guy.
-
They seem to pull a random number out the hat for added on time. Zero correlation to what actually happens on the pitch.

Is Taggart p!ssed up here?
