And anyone that can't see this is, frankly, limited. We had Birmingham penned in all second half, probing and pressing for a winner. We weren't slow, it genuinely had an urgent feel to it. But that doesn't mean we threw caution to the wind and over committed, leaving ourselves exposed to the counter. That was our downfall last year, so how our fans are incapable of understanding the merits of guarding against such a cavalier approach is beyond me.

Christ. It's our routine for goal kicks. Mads just didn't notice how quickly he was being pressed and took too long. It's that simple.

Yeah, prefer Tesco

Rohl should be in with a shout if he manages to keep Wednesday up from where they were. Probably McKenna though regardless of how the season ends.

What's the luxury tax? I refuse to visit the fail.

If it makes you feel better, the most offensive thing about it was how unfunny it was.

Always difficult, these votes. People are saying it's impossible for it not to be KDH, yet you look at the match ratings for the season and he's only ranked 6th of players that have played more than 10 games. Hard to argue with his goal contributions but I'm not convinced he's put in the type of all round performance we know he's capable of often enough. The match ratings support that. Match ratings over the season have it as Winks, Vesty and Ricky in a very tight battle for top spot, and that feels about right to me. In my book, player of the season should go to somebody who has consistently performed throughout the season.

There's nothing wrong with fast, sharp play, but I actually felt we over-comitted yesterday. I'd have put good money on a Norwich breakaway goal. Thankfully they didn't make good use of the ball when they had the chance. At times we were playing a 2-3-5 formation! KDH and N'didi were pressing high and effectively joining the 3, while we had Doyle and Ricardo getting forward, leaving Faes and Vestergaard alone in our half in transition. It was nice to see some urgency yesterday, but we do need to be mindful of not overdoing it. A good counter attacking outfit would have had a field day yesterday. Maybe it was a risk we felt we could take against Norwich.

As with most arguments online, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

What a pointless way to give away a penalty
-
Check the possession we had on our poor run, buddy

I give up with some of the guys on this forum. We win = we ignored Enzo We lose = ffs saw this coming, bloody Enzo ball
-
We had plenty of shots today. Winks and Fatawu had a couple each when passes were on.
-
I'd like to see their shot conversion rate. Obviously there's an element of skill to that but it does feel that the majority of their shots manage to find their way into the back of the net. The equaliser was a first time pot shot out of nothing and the winner looked like more of a breakdance than a recognised footballing manoeuvre.

A point doesn't do much for Southampton today, I can understand it. They needed to hunt Ipswich down. Still jammy. They didn't really look like scoring, and the red card was highly questionable in the first place.
-
First off that is never a red. Second, Southampton were easily the better side there. How does this Ipswich side keep on finding late winners?
-
It was more like 30, 40, 20, but you're right. I'll put the first 30 down to nerves and confidence, I'll take confidence from the middle 40, and we shouldn't be shocked by the final 20. First 30 aside (confidence), it's what we've come to expect from us this season - Great until the end is in sight. Our idea of closing out a game is to slow the game down (but without actually wasting time), waiting for the game to end. Just glad we've got Doyle, Ricky and N'didi back. I think we can expect more of that middle 40 now.
-
Do not underestimate the upgrade that is Doyle at left back vs Justin. Likewise Ricky vs. Hamza the other side, but the left side was particularly noticable today. It's the difference between Fatawu receiving it deep in their half after a fantastic cross field ball vs. running back towards our own goal after Justin has spooned another attempted pass. Doesn't half take the pressure off our central midfielders to have to dictate all the play as well.
-
Tough though, isn't it? Every time we found a bit of space, KDH proceeded to spoon it to the nearest defender first time. I can understand why our players might be a bit reluctant to move forwards when it so consistently results in us losing the ball. Our biggest issue is having poor ball playing footballers, especially in the middle.
-
That's part of it. I think the pressing and long balls are a tweak to compensate. But most of our fans think this is our chickens coming home to roost. I.e. we're doing the same thing and we've been 'sussed'. No, we're not doing what we were with anything like the same ability and compounding that with rash tweaks. Yet you read on here there's no flexibility to the tactics or willingness to try anything different. Truth is we'd be better off if that were the case!

We don't play anything like we were when we were winning. The patterns have gone. Earlier in the season it was obvious that we played triangles with Winks the point. Do you really see that now? We play long in blind panic. I mean just look at the possession stats as a simple indicator: Bristol: 61% Hull: 49% Sunderland: 51% QPR: 74% Leeds: 40% 1 game in 5 we've truly dominated the ball. Our fan base will love that. Long gone are the days of regular 70%+ possession. Class. We press higher than we did. This is why we're absolutely knackered at the end of games now and also why teams find it easier to pose us a problem defensively, so our shape is all over the place. Our midfielders don't attack the box the way they were doing. Wout Faes runs the length of the football pitch on average 5 times per bastard game. We're no longer patient. Not boring, though, is it? Proper promotion race on our hands now. Dominating the league was too boring for our fans. Happy now? Really does my head in how our fan base thinks they had it right all along and these results were always coming. No they weren't. Not if we carried on playing how we were.
-
We've already ditched the philosophy and that's our very problem.
-
It's around then we stopped playing the Enzo way, too. It'd be extreme of me to suggest that the last couple of months have been Enzo's revenge, but my God what I'd give for the 'boring' performances from before that interview.
-
I didn't say anything about next season.

Yep, that's the frustration isn't it. Hopefully the desperation of the situation and the continuation of poor form forces him into a change. We're not changing managers though. Waste of time hoping for it, talking about it, and absolutely a bad idea for it to make its way into the ground on Monday.
