What the **** was that non-existent defending!

You’ve just signed a lad for £20 million, he’s young and enthusiastic but maybe a bit raw. The key thing to do is build the players confidence, especially during this tricky period where everything in his life is up in the air - new teamates, new league, new country, new area, new house etc. So you give him game time - and allow him to make mistakes - to then work on those in the week. You build the foundations with the player by installing the notion you have belief in him and keep playing him. If he’s in and out of the side - his confidence gets knocked and you can get in a tricky scenario where a creative player is second guessing their decision making; and can get either a player playing ‘safe’ too often OR the opposite of trying too hard to impress and forever going for the killer ball.

Shots fired!

And hopefully - not a whacking great big contract termination fee either as was rumoured with Brendan.
-
Such a disappointing looking lineup given we need a win today to keep pace with Manchester United 😂 My god, they’re shit aren’t they!
-
Add into this - if you are asking one of your fullbacks to do this, you can’t expect them to do it for 90 minutes; instead what you do is essentially have a pre-planned change at around the 60-70 minute mark to freshen and ensure the same intensity can be applied to that role (which, with 5 subs you can now afford to do).

He’ll get 5 minutes at most and will be brought on for Mav whilst Ayew ambles about for 90 minutes.

You mean a Vardy penalty I take it? -
You could say that - you could also say that it’s not given he offered very little despite being kept on for the whole game. What is perplexing is Cooper persisting with attacking with one winger inverting and that sides full back pushing high up today. Does he really think we’ll have any serious amount of possession today to that - and even if we did, would we want our full back bombing on leaving space down a flank for a centrehalf to cover.
-
There ain’t much about us that leads to calling him to stay though. The key question you have to ask yourself - are Steve Cooper’s decisions helping or hindering us as a side? This squad is decent - it’s certainly capable of a lot more than what Cooper’s getting out of it.
-
😂😂😂 Of course you take off Mav! The guys a clown 🤡
-
Cooper wasting his permitted changes with single substitutions again I see. Mean how he’s not seen that Ayew has been a passenger… not just in this game but pretty much ever game he’s played for us, is beyond me.
-
Perhaps the only part of our game plan that’s looked ok this season - set pieces - which is not being coached by Cooper!
-
Who said Okoli was having a good game? DCL is absolutely schooling him!
-
I sense we’re witnessing the slow death of Steve Cooper’s managerial reign. Everton to get a second soon.
-
No-one’s played well - judging any player in this mess is silly.
-
Wasted change for me - the weather’s having an impact to the extent going two up top has to be the move.
-
Hopefulluy El Kid calms down a bit this half - seemed to be trying to do too much first period.
-
I’m getting a lot done via this game - first bringing the washing in before the rain and now the small delay made me think I might as well pop in the replacement bulbs I bought this morning. Productive!
-
My gosh, a rain delay! That’s just… cricket!
-
All of you suggesting substitutions - whilst cases can be made - the more pressing issue is shape, structure and game plan. Even just going straight 442 would see a massive improvement.
-
Even Rodgers wouldn’t have picked this dross.
-
Well one positive - spotting the rain on the stream gave me prior warning to bring my washing in - small wins and all that!
-
We don’t seem to have any idea what we’re meant to do with the ball.

Don’t refresh too hard
