I'm not a regular poster on here, but here's my tuppence worth...
The first half last night was our worst performance for some time, and I'd include the second half at Palace in that. But it wasn't out of character and included the same issues that have been happening for months - slow start, inability to play out from the back, inability to defend set pieces, poor communication and positional awareness amongst defenders, sloppy and inaccurate passing, the list goes on. We even struggle with working throw-ins to a player in space. Yes, lots of this is down to the players, but correcting or changing it has to be down to the manager, when the problems have been going on for so long, as does selection - picking Ndidi and Soumare together, ignoring Kelechi...
Two consecutive 5th spots were not a fluke and we have the squad, despite injuries, capable of building on that. As fans, we deserve better than to try to salvage positives from a run of poor performances, but that's where we are it seems. I have defended Rodgers - injuries, thin squad compared to the big boys, etc - but we are not competing with the big boys anymore and are struggling against teams who would love some of our players. He needs to go, maybe in the new year - I hope he can prove me wrong.
A Liverpool supporting friend laughed when we appointed him and told me to wait until he started dabbling in the transfer market...
