https://www.goodisonnews.com/2024/07/17/everton-bid-ready-as-leeds-united-star-wilfried-gnonto-transfer-development-emerges/ Everton are confident of beating West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Wolves and Newcastle to sign Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto, according to Caught Offside. The news outlet reported on 17 July that once Amadou Onana joins Aston Villa, the Toffees will launch a bid for the Italy international. A price tag of £25million has been set by Leeds but they could spark a bidding war given the growing interest in his services. Everton must act quickly and agree personal terms with Wilfried Gnonto The Toffees must act quickly to agree personal terms with Gnonto and secure his signature before other interested clubs intensify their pursuit. The 20-year-old is a versatile and dynamic attacker who can bring a new dimension to their attack with his pace, dribbling skills and creativity. He’s also known to turn defence to attack within the blink of an eye and can give Sean Dyche’s side the edge in transition.

Sometimes effort and commitment can provide substitute for a lack of advanced skills especially in defence. I thought he always gave his all putting his body on the line for the team.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cxr2g7wdlngo Retired Stearman knew 'writing was on the wall' Richard Stearman general shot IMAGE SOURCE,REX FEATURES Image caption, Richard Stearman totalled 574 career appearances - almost half of them (253) with Wolves Ged Scott BBC Sport England Published 17 July 2024 Richard Stearman says he knew the "writing was on the wall" after announcing his decision to quit playing at 36. Almost 20 years on from making his Leicester City debut in October 2004, he has now turned to full-time coaching with last season's National League promotion finalists Solihull Moors. He was part of the Solihull squad who reached Wembley twice in a week at the end of 2023-24 - and was an unused substitute as the Moors lost to Gateshead in the FA Trophy final, just seven days after missing out on a place in the Football League - to Bromley in the National League promotion final. Both games were decided on penalty shootouts - but former Leicester, Wolves, Ipswich Town, Fulham, Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town and Derby County defender Stearman admits he has been quite close to packing in the game for both the past two summers. "As you get older as a player you know the writing is on the wall a bit," he told BBC Radio WM. "I've been close to retiring now for the last two seasons before deciding to play on. National League opening day fixtures "Coming into Moors last summer they said we'll give you the opportunity to play but also let you have a look at the coaching side as they knew that was the route I wanted to go down. It worked quite well and I ended up playing quite a bit. And I got a good taster for the other side." In the end, having not played over the final two months of last season, he was only an unused substitute on the bench for the second of Moors' Wembley finals. It was therefore perhaps an easy decision for both player and club when the time came to discuss the coming season with director of football Stephen Ward - his old Wolves team-mate - and manager Andy Whing. "I sat down with the club and we decided it was best if I was helping on the coaching side and available to be in the office and on the training pitch on a day-to-day basis," said Stearman. Richard Stearman celebrates with Dave Edwards IMAGE SOURCE,GETTY IMAGES Image caption, Richard Stearman's Alan Shearer celebration after scoring in the first minute in an FA Cup tie against a reserve-strength Liverpool side at Anfield in January 2017 is a treasured memory for a lot of Wolves fans "I've been lucky enough to represent some fantastic teams. Leicester City were the platform before I left to join Wolves, where I had a lot of my career highs. "Scoring at Anfield, a couple of promotions and a couple player of the season awards, promotion with Sheffield United, playing for England through the age groups and even at the end with Solihull making two Wembley appearances in a week. "It has been great but there comes a time when it has to be done. It was emotional when it finally hit me. But now, having seen the positive way the lads have reported for pre-season, it's all about looking forward." Moors will start the new National League campaign at AFC Fylde on Saturday, 10 August.

https://getfootballnewsbene.com/leicester-citys-sister-club-oh-leuvens-transfer-strategy-called-into-question-again-as-another-of-last-summers-acquisitions-departs-the-club/ LEICESTER CITY’S SISTER CLUB OH LEUVEN’S TRANSFER STRATEGY CALLED INTO QUESTION AGAIN AS ANOTHER OF LAST SUMMER’S ACQUISITIONS DEPARTS THE CLUB 17 July 2024 It is becoming somewhat of a yearly tradition at OH Leuven that whoever is bought in the summer is either gone by January or the following summer. This time, midfielder Kento Misao has left the club after barely 12 months to join Kashima Antlers. Misao only came in last summer from Santa Clara, but is already back in Japan to re-join the side he played for prior to moving to Europe. The midfielder made 21 appearances for OH Leuven, scoring once and grabbing one assist. He re-joins the Antlers looking to add to his incredible 243 appearances for the side. Misao is set to be just one of a number of departees from last summers window. Record signing Jonatan Braut Brunes was not included in the training squad by head coach Oscar Garcia, while there are then also rumours that defender Florian Miguel will be allowed to leave. This pattern is one of the reasons why the side found themselves in a relegation scrap last season, and could well do the same if they do not get the recruitment right this time around. Already, the squad is looking unbalanced with a very strong central midfield core but not much outside of that. Given that they want to add another talented midfielder in William Balikwisha to this area is questionable, even if the departure of Misao somewhat frees up space. OH Leuven can ill afford to have another summer of poor recruitment. The side should learn the lessons of their sister club Leicester City in the dangers of relegation. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/local-news/major-plan-grow-leicestershire-village-9415028 Major plan to grow Leicestershire village by 470 new homes emerges The proposals are in their very early stages A swathe of fields a the edge of a Leicestershire village are being eyed up for hundreds of new homes. Developer Lagan has set out plans to build “about” 470 homes on the outskirts of Ratby. No application for the scheme has been submitted to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council yet, meaning none of the details have been finalised. Instead, the plan was unveiled through a pre-application public consultation with local residents to seek their feedback. Early indications suggest the estate would sit at the western side of the village, next to Ratby Primary School, Pear Tree Business Park and Ratby Medical Centre. It would extend to run parallel to the length of Stamford Street until it meets the edge of the two planned developments off Markfield Road. READ MORE: Crackdown proposed for 'dangerous' Leicestershire village car races In addition to the new homes, the scheme could also include a care home or retirement home, “generous” amounts of green spaces for play and “recreational activities” and a link road running through the development between Markfield Road and Desford Lane designed to divert traffic from using Main Street instead, Lagan said. The developer added it would provide land and financial contributions towards a new village hall and a new primary school. Lagan said: “The existing Parish Council village hall is old, small and highly constrained and Ratby Primary School has no capacity to expand.” There would also be “substantial new tree planting” particularly along the western edge of the site, according to the company. A consultation on the scheme is set to run until Sunday, August 4. It asks residents a number of questions including whether they agree more housing is needed, whether they think the proposed link road is a good idea and if they think the development should provide a new primary school and village hall. -

It’s something new to me. I’m going to go hard for that, with the team. I can’t wait to see [my team-mates]. I’ve missed them so much. They are like a family now. He made his senior debut for the Portuguese side against Rio Ave in August 2022 and featured in their UEFA Champions League campaign that term. At senior level, he has represented his country on 19 occasions, featuring in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and more recently in the Africa Cup of Nations. He will reunite with his Leicester City team-mates as preparations continue for the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday 19 August.

Richard Merkel · Prior to 1920, it was possible to send children through the US Postal service. However, there were certain conditions that needed to be met. Firstly, the children had to weigh less than 50 pounds, and stamps were attached to their clothing as a form of payment. Surprisingly, it was often more cost-effective for individuals to send their children via mail rather than opting for train transportation. Interestingly, during the journey, the children would travel on a train, specifically in the mail car, where they were supervised and provided with nourishment by mail clerks. One remarkable example of this unconventional practice involved a distance of over 700 miles, from Florida to Virginia, covered with a mere 15 cents worth of stamps.
