  1. Well we had the banner around the top of the stand which now says Kingpower - Badge - Est 1884 with the LCFC Football Club hidden behind the 2 big screens. As they've so far shown absolutely nothing that would suggest they would do something that makes the stadium look like the home of LCFC rather KP in fact they've done the opposite I have zero belief that we'll see anything other than more KP branding. The supporters group are be completely side-lined on every issue raised by the fans.
  2. I spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist myself and asked... ''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?'' ''Why would I do that?'' He asked... ''Well, then you won't have to spend an hour here for things like making a transfer. You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!'' I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking. He asked ''If I do that, I won't have to step out of the house?” ''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even groceries can be delivered to your door now and how Amazon delivers everything! His answer left me tongue-tied. He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted awhile with the staff who know me very well by now. You know, I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave. Two years back, I got sick. The store owner from whom I bought fruits, came to see me, and sat by my bedside and cried. When your Mom fell down a few days back while on her morning walk, our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live. Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online? Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer? I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of Relationships. Does Amazon deliver all this as well?''' Technology isn't life.. 11. Interesting choice for ex Leicester defender moving to Germany to play for Hannover 96 Embed from Getty Images Josh Knight (26) has made his next move in football, signing for Hannover 96. He will meet a familier face in Ron-Robert Zieler, both players at Leicester in the past. Knight played for Leicester from 2016 to 2021, having a number of loan spells, before making a move to Peterborough. A total of 109 league appearances and 6 goals scored, was the tally of games during his time at Peterborough, playing his games in Championship and League One. Hannover 96 have a proud history, and the goal this season will be to get out of the second tier and back to the Bundesliga. They ended 6th last season, playing there since relegation for the top flight in 2019. Josh Knight was on the brink of a breakthrough at Leicester, but he was on the field for just one competitive game, playing in the EFL Cup vs. Sheffield United on the 22nd of August 2017. Josh Knight @Joshknight66 New chapter, excited to get started at such a big club. Thank you for the all messages, can’t wait to get going!💚🖤 #niemalsallein @Hannover96
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgxqgxyv1kpo Ex-footballer Joey Barton has been charged with making malicious communications. The former Manchester City, Burnley and Rangers player is due to appear in court later this month. On his X account, the 41-year-old said he had been charged over tweets relating to broadcaster and multiple league title winner Eniola Aluko. Cheshire Police said the charges concerned messages sent between 1 and 18 January. In a statement, a force spokesman said a man from Widnes had been "summoned to court to face charges of malicious communications". They added that following a police investigation, the Crown Prosecution Service had "authorised the charges for Joseph Barton". The spokesman said the former footballer was due to appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court on 30 July.
  13. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/new-park-ride-more-frequent-9423678 New park and ride, more frequent buses and free Sunday service on the cards for Leicester Some discounted fares are also being floated as an idea NEWS ByHannah RichardsonLocal Democracy Reporter 14:13, 22 JUL 2024 The new Hop! bus is one of Leicester's most recent investments in its services (Image: Leicester City Council) Leicester could be getting a new park and ride as the city council sets out its bus priorities for the next five years. The service would run from Oadby Racecourse, Leicester City Council documents suggest. The local authority is also looking to make improvements to the existing park and rides in the city. It wants to extend the timetables for all city park and rides so they provide “evening, weekend and sporting event” coverage. The services from Meynell’s Gorse and Birstall could also be expanded so they stop at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Changes are also being considered for the Hospital Hopper which currently runs between three hospitals in Leicester every 30 minutes Monday to Friday, with an hourly Saturday service and an hourly peak only service on Sundays. This could become a 15 minute service, documents suggest. Plans also include adding a stop at the Ashton Green housing estate. In the city centre, changes are also afoot. The Hop! bus service could have Sundays added to its timetable. Currently, the service, which links the train and bus stations to key locations including Leicester Market, the city’s shops, Leicester Royal Infirmary and the universities, only runs on Mondays to Saturdays. Some buses on the Mainlines network could also see their frequency increased. Leicester City Council said it was looking to move the First Bus 13, 21 and 74 daytime services to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, First Bus 4, 13, 16, 17, 21 and 74, and Arriva 44/44a services could move to every 30 minutes, with weekday evening pick ups every hour. The Orbital route, which links General Hospital, Oadby, Wigston, Fosse Park, Glenfield, Glenfield Hospital, Beaumont Leys, Rushey Mead, Hamilton and Nether Hall, could see the regularity of its buses increased. This would be changed to every 30 minute as phase one of its improvements, followed by a second phase which would see it become a 15 minute service. In addition to changes to the routes themselves, Leicester City Council has also revealed it is hoping to introduce new discounted ticket schemes. These would include extending the upper limit of the existing child concession rate from the current age of 16 to 18. The authority said it also wanted to reduce the cost of travelling to non-central workplaces where “expensive city centre interchange is required”. It said it also hoped 100 per cent of its buses will be electric by 2030. However, the council said it would need substantial investment over the coming years to achieve these goals. To keep the services as they are would cost the authority £3 million a year alone. The frequency improvements and discounted fares would add £3.5 million to that bill. The plans for a fully electric service and the other infrastructure improvements proposed would require £80 million of investment. The council said it was “in discussion with the Department for Transport and other partners” to see how funding could be secured.
  14. Why can't we have something like this, you know something related to LCFC and not KP.

  17. https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/07/21/enzo-maresca-big-admirer-of-mads-hermansen/ Enzo Maresca a big admirer of 24-year-old he signed for Leicester last summer CHELSEA FC LEICESTER CITY FC Posted by Charlie Patrick12 hours ago Enzo Maresca a big admirer of 24-year-old he signed for Leicester last summer Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is a big admirer of Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, but it’s unclear if the Blues will make a move according to journalist Tom Collomosse. It’s been a busy summer at Stamford Bridge with six new faces coming through the door already as the club look to strengthen the squad in an attempt to get back into the Champions League next season. The Blues head off to America on Monday for their pre-season tour, and are reportedly in the market for a goalkeeper, winger and striker, although it’s unclear how many more signings they will make. Maresca admires Mads Hermansen It was reported last week that Chelsea were going to enter the market for a new goalkeeper, with good distribution an essential factor. The Blues signed Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer, but Maresca clearly feels it’s an area that needs improving. Sanchez started the season as number one, but after a solid start he made a number of errors and lost his place to Petrovic last December when he got injured and didn’t win it back. Petrovic impressed in the Chelsea goal, but his style isn’t suited to what Maresca is said to want from his goalkeepers, and the west London club are believed to have offered him to Serie A side Genoa. However, Mail Sport’s Collomosse has reported Maresca is a big admirer of Hermansen, who is said to be valued at around £45m. Maresca knows the Dane well having signed him for Leicester last summer, and he would certainly tick the boxes for what Chelsea are looking for in a new keeper. The 24-year-old made 44 appearances in the Championship and kept 13 clean sheets as the Foxes won the title last season. If Hermansen does make the move to Stamford Bridge he would be following in the footsteps of Maresca and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Chelsea have also been recently linked with James Trafford, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Filip Jorgensen, who is believed to have a release clause of £35m.
  18. It wasn't meant to be solely aim at you it just seems to have become a theme on FT. Sure but you're still justifying why we shouldn't use them without knowing if they're good enough. We should be giving them plenty of opportunities in the pre-season and the early games as a priority before the window shuts. I'm sure we could still get a 'Skipp' level player later on if they don't show they are ready.
  19. Who's a pretty boy. That Dr is a pretty boy.
  20. I've been seeing this argument used for as long as I can remember but in various guises. Qualifying for Europe is the priority, not player development. Winning a Cup is the priority, not player development. I used to hear it in my work when in charge of apprentices, we can't use them they have no experience. Aye but they have other attributes like positivity, energy, unsullied views of the business, willingness to learn, learnt skills, natural ability and ambition. There always seems to be a reason for not blooding young people.
  21. https://thecelticstar.com/the-celtic-legend-who-managed-leicester-city-and-nearly-won-the-league/ The Celtic legend who managed Leicester City and nearly won the league By EDITOR 21 July, 2024 No Comments The Celtic legend who managed Leicester City and nearly won the league Facebook WhatsApp Twitter Reddit Email Share Celtic Great who managed Leicester City and came within a point of winning the league… Another look back into The Celtic Star archives to share another fascinating Celtic story from the late, great Celtic Historian David Potter… Adams, McNair and Orr… is the start of one of the best Celtic teams of them all, and Willie Orr was their captain and leader, yet curiously he is not talked about as much as other members of the side. Not only that, but he was a great Manager, and it could well be argued that he might have made a great Assistant Manager and possible eventual successor to Willie Maley. He was bright, intelligent, hard-working and totally committed to the cause. Yet as a left back (a rather unspectacular position on the field, although men like Dan Doyle and Tommy Gemmell would have disagreed!) he has been largely ignored by the hagiographers. He was born in 1873, had played for Airdrie and was with Preston North End in 1897 when he became one of the first wave of the Maley recruits in the summer of that year. He was mainly a left half in those days, but he played an honourable part in Celtic’s winning back of the League in 1898, sometimes at left half and sometimes at right half without in any way seeming out of place alongside mighty men like Sandy McMahon and Dan Doyle. Willie Orr in his time at Preston NE He was less successful in the 1898/99 season and for some reason missed out on the Scottish Cup final of that year, but took a glorious role in the winning of the Scottish Cup in 1900, having the intelligence to know how to play against the wind (the simple method of holding the ball and if you have to pass, to pass the ball along the ground a short distance) and thus winning his first Scottish Cup medal. He was then capped three times for Scotland, although never against England. Not the least of Maley’s happy decisions in 1904 was his appointment of Orr as captain while simultaneously moving him to play at left back, and this allowing the mighty half back line of Young, Loney and Hay to come together. Celtic never really looked back after that, and Orr captained the side to three successive Scottish League titles in 1905, 1906 and 1907. The Scottish Cup of 1904 was all about Jimmy Quinn, but the 1907 Scottish Cup final against Hearts was no less significant historically. In the first place it was part of the first ever Scottish League and Cup double, for which Orr deserves as much credit as anyone, and although no-one knew it at the time, his conversion of the penalty kick in the Scottish Cup final changed the course of Scottish football history in that it propelled Celtic to a great victory and sustained success, and in so doing, condemned Hearts to 50 years of mediocrity with a long lasting and permanent inferiority complex about Celtic which is sadly so obvious to this day. The 1907 Scottish Cup final was also virtually the end of Orr’s sparkling Celtic career, for he was soon replaced by the younger and faster Jamie Weir, some 14 years his junior! Orr was now 34, accepted matters with a good grace, retired and disappeared from football for a while. He became involved with Airdrie, one of his previous clubs, and we next see him after the war as Manager of Airdrie. He was phenomenally successful with players like Hughie Gallacher and Bob McPhail, and in 1924 Airdrie won the Scottish Cup, the only major trophy they have ever won! Orr might have taken Airdrie further, but this was the 1920s, and his good players were all sold off elsewhere, and he himself moved on to try his luck as Manager of Leicester City. Here again he enjoyed more than a little success and with several Scottish players in his team, not least John “Tokey” Duncan one time of Raith Rovers, he took them to second place in the English League in 1929, losing out narrowly and unluckily to The Wednesday (we know them better as Sheffield Wednesday) by one point. Willie Orr and his Leicester City side He returned to Scotland in the 1930s where he was a lot less successful as Manager of Falkirk where he found himself suspended sine die on 4 April 1935 after having apparently tried to bribe an opposition player to be “ill” or “injured” and not to turn out against Falkirk. Orr protested his innocence, and received widespread support from many quarters – Falkirk themselves and Leicester City, but significantly, not Celtic in circumstances where one would have felt that that intervention of Willie Maley might have been significant. Does this tell us anything? Orr never returned to football, even after his sine die suspension was lifted two years later. He worked as the Manager of W.Alexander’s Bus depot in Crieff for a few years before he retired. He died in Airdrie in February 1946. He was aged 72, a mighty football man and a great and underestimated Celt. Leicester City pay their own tribute to former Celt Willie Orr on their official website with this feature from their Club Historian John Hutchinson…SEE HERE. David Potter
  22. Boneyard Safari · Follow 4 d · This photograph was taken on July 15, 1945. The man standing beside this device is Norris Bradbury who was described by someone several years ago as the mechanic who had helped assemble the device (not completely inappropriate, but that "mechanic, Norris Bradbury, had a doctorate in physics and went on to become the second Director of the Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory). The device was referred to as "The Gadget," and it consisted of a collection of carefully assembled explosive lens arranged in a spherical pattern much like the outlines commonly seen on volleyball. Early the next morning, on July 16, 1945, those conventional explosives were detonated simultaneously and resulted in a highly symmetrical pressure wave that literally imploded a small spherical chunk of metallic plutonium. There was a very small hollow spot in the center of that chunk of plutonium containing two elements that when crushed together released neutrons triggered plutonium nuclei to split (or fission) into two fragments and releasing energy. That relatively small sphere then released in total the equivalent of nearly 10,000 tons of TNT. It was the first man-made nuclear explosion and was conducted at Alamogordo in New Mexico and was referred to as the Trinity test. . The device was identical in concept and general configuration to the weaponized version of the bomb dropped on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. . The reason for the July 16 test was to confirm that the implosion weapon would work. The first bomb dropped on Hiroshima (on August 6, 1945) in Japan was a uranium "gun-type" device that the developers had no doubt would work.
