  1. At least the fans can sing the same song We're going down with the Men / Women depends on which team is playing
  2. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/louis-page-selection-decision-confirmed-10774475 Louis Page selection decision confirmed for Leicester City clash with Oxford The 17-year-old has proven himself over his last five Championship substitute appearances and will become even more important following Jordan James' hamstring injury Jordan Blackwell 07:00, 24 Jan 2026 Louis Page will make his first Championship start since August on Saturday as Marti Cifuentes confirmed the 17-year-old would replace Jordan James in Leicester City’s midfield against Oxford. Page, one of the brightest prospects coming through the ranks at City, will get his chance after proving himself with recent substitute outings. He’s played 20 minutes off the bench in each of City’s last five league games and has impressed on each occasion, showing off good composure, an eye for a pass, strong dribbling under pressure, and an ability to intercept. With James now ruled out for at least four weeks, Page gets his chance to make an impact from the first whistle. Promising Leicester City forward Jake Evans on course for January loan move While he started in the FA Cup against Cheltenham a fortnight ago, this will be his first league start since August, when he deputised for wantaway Bilal El Khannouss in attacking midfield. “He will start, for sure,” Cifuentes said on Friday. “I have a lot of trust in Louis. “He has been developing a lot. In the beginning of the season, it was new for him. It was the first pre-season with the first team, it was the first time he was playing senior football. “He did well, albeit playing slightly higher on the pitch than what is his best. I think it was good for him to gain some confidence. “It’s not the same when you are playing and the teams are aggressive on the pressure. We want to have the ball and a lot of teams will try to press us high. He did really well to develop during this period. “Then we agreed with the FA and we took a decision to let him go to the Under-17s World Cup because we felt it was a very good experience for him in the long term, even if he could have stayed and had some minutes. The reality is that it was a good month for him. “Since he came back, he’s done really well. He’s playing minutes in nearly every game, quality minutes. I think he is showing he will be an important player for us in the future. He has a lot of qualities we appreciate in a midfielder.” With Oliver Skipp also injured, City need another change in the centre of the park. Hamza Choudhury will be the frontrunner to play there, with Boubakary Soumare also an option. The other big call comes in the defence. Cifuentes must decide whether he keeps Ben Nelson at left-back or whether he drops Caleb Okoli or Jannik Vestergaard to allow Luke Thomas to come back into the side. Given the number of players City have out, there will likely be a fresh face on the bench, with Logan Briggs and Michael Golding competing for a call-up.

  6. AS I remember it - ruined in my eyes. A museum where you destroy the original design of the building. Story of Leicester Leicester Museums & Art Gallery (also known as New Walk Museum!) photo taken in c.1930. Standing watch at the top of the staircase is George the Giraffe - a firm favourite for museums visitors for many decades. George was still on display through to the late 1960s - maybe some of our fans remember seeing him when they visited as a child? He now lives at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham, his home for the last 50 years or so. Big changes have happened at the museums since this photo was taken - the staircase was removed and a floor added between the balconies seen here, creating a large new gallery upstairs. Leicester Museum & Art Gallery celebrates it's 175th anniversary in 2026, and it has been free to visit for all that time! Did you visit when you were a child, do you still visit today?
  7. This type of signing makes me less interested than I was before, not only are we stuck with a PL clone but now seemingly signing players because they are football celebrity.

  13. History of Leicestershire in Images Mervin Wallace · ON THE 20th JANUARY 1265 England's first Parliament* met at Westminster Hall in London, convened by Simon de Montfort, The 6th Earl of Leicester, who was born in Normandy around 1208. He was killed during The Battle of Evesham (Worcestershire) on the 4th August 1265. The battle in which the army of Prince Edward, the future king Edward I of England, defeated the forces of rebellious barons led by Simon de Montfort. This is regarded as marking the first step towards the foundation of the modern House of Commons and the democratic government of today. *Although historically he enjoys a reputation as the father of modern parliamentary democracy, the word parliament first appeared in 1236, then when knights were formally elected to sit in 1254. He is represented in the stonework figures in Leicester’s Clock Tower.

  16. All About Great Britain · Follow Taken in 1903, this cross-section shows the Roman road of the Fosse Way at Radstock in Somerset, with the layered surface clearly visible. Built in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, the Fosse Way ran for around 230 miles, linking Exeter in the southwest with Lincoln in the northeast. For a time after the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 43, it even marked the western frontier of Roman control. Its name comes from the Latin fossa, meaning “ditch”, and it may have begun life as a defensive earthwork before becoming a major road. The markings along the top also appear to show cart tracks, a reminder of just how heavily this route was used.
  17. Mike's Musical Memories · Follow The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (also known as the Bonzo Dog Band or the Bonzo Dog Dada Band or the Bonzos) was created by a group of British art-school students in the 1960s. Combining elements of music hall, trad jazz and psychedelia with surreal humour and avant-garde art, the Bonzos came to public attention through appearances in the Beatles' 1967 film Magical Mystery Tour and the 1968 ITV comedy show Do Not Adjust Your Set. Vivian StanshallVocals, trumpet Neil InnesVocals, piano, guitar Rodney Desborough SlaterSaxophone Roger Ruskin SpearMulti-instruments Larry "Legs" SmithDrums The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band was named after a cartoon character named Bonzo the Dog. Bonzo was created in the 1920s by George Studdy and became very popular in Britain over the years. After gaining popularity in England in the '60s, the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band was asked personally by Paul McCartney to be The Beatles' 1967 Magical Mystery Tour film. The Bonzos appear at the end of the movie to play their song "Death Cab for Cutie." In 1968, the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band became the resident house band on the sketch comedy show Do Not Adjust Your Set. The show featured Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin, all of whom went on to form the comedy troupe Monty Python's Flying Circus. Due to record label budget constraints, the band was only given two hours to record each song for their 1967 debut album Gorilla. As a result, the record famously boasts that it contains "some of the most deliberately inept jazz playing ever recorded." In 1995, Vivian Stanshall, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist for Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, died in a tragic house fire. Stanshall's body was found after the fire in his North London flat was extinguished. Friends and family said that Stanshall regularly smoked and drank in bed and even occasionally lit his long red beard on fire. In the '60s, they became notorious for combining comedic onstage antics with music in their live shows. Vocalist Vivian Stanshall used to perform stripteases, drummer Larry Smith would tap-dance, and multi-instrumentalist Roger Ruskin Spear would do a gag where his head eventually exploded.
