  1. Really?? I’m not sure I agree, I think most fans care more about entertainment, loyalty, experience, seeing their mates, watching a great game, knowing that players gave their all, passion, etc etc etc. The result is in there, and near the top, but isn’t the whole list at all.
  2. Anyone know which US network is showing the game??
  3. Congratulations Khun Top… He clearly still is committed to the club he loves. Very poignant timing.
  4. It looks very Thai
  5. I thought the first half performance was connected to this.... His first pass was awful and he seemed to take 10-15 minutes to calm down after, sticking to very easy and predictable passes. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think Vestergaard looks way better with the ball at his feet than Coady.
  6. Thankfully this didn't age well.
  7. The keeper is another player, in possession he is an outfield player. You can’t mark a keeper so someone has to close him down therefore leaving a space. Overloading the opposition when you attack is the aim of this system. So the more players that commit to their press the better. Getting the keeper and centre back to invite 3/4 players to break their marking position and press means that if we pass through them to midfield we have 2 more players than they do. The options for attacking passes or moving with the ball unchallenged open up. We commit to this totally and our 7/8 players attack at speed they’re 5/6 players leading to lots of goal scoring chances. The risk is they successfully close the keeper or CB down and create a chance themselves. It has to be a possibility otherwise they wouldn’t commit to the press and our system falls apart. So yes, occasionally the opposition will get the reward for the press (Blackburn 1), more often the space it opens up creates chances and goals for us (LCFC 4). I thoroughly enjoy the sophistication of the tactics, but the excitement of the break after tempting the opposition into a trap. Hopefully you can now enjoy it more?
  8. Entirely agree. It seems “plan b” is an expression born out of the lazy pundits we all slate, and then repeated. We’re a dozen games into playing an entirely new style. That style will take years to implement thoroughly and yet a month or two in we’ve got “plan b” being banded about. This style is plan A-Z, we’re implementing the basics of the first phase, finding out which players can adapt and coaching them. Personally I love having a style of play that’s obviously being worked on.
  9. Sir Kier Starmer
  10. It was against LiVARpool
  11. Me too!!! 😡
  12. If he doesn’t get too many games, and we’re promoted I could see him returning. Like you, I think he’d be great under Enzo
  13. That will be irrelevant next season … they’ll have swapped places with us
  14. I get the feeling that Enzo really likes KDH. He was straight over to him giving some feedback after the game, and I’ve got a feeling KDH really absorbs that information and tries to action it. it’s possibly why we see some erratic decision making as he tries to have the latest piece of coaching at the forefront of his mind. I’ve always said it - He’s a future LCFC Captain and future best player in the squad. He’ll gain so much from Enzo
  15. That aspect of the game has never changed. You are never offside until the ball is played, the only relevant point in time for offside is the instant your team mate makes the pass
  16. A bizarre post! You’ve massively simplified your point to make a binary argument for one player … whilst criticising people making it a binary choice between the two players. JV is definitely not just asked to do the above. He’s re-circulating the ball, and deliberately inviting pressure to instigate the press-break. He’s actually playing a really pivotal role in how we play. You’re not watching the game if you think he’s just heading the ball and pinging diagonals
  17. I agree, the LFC cup game will be very interesting. For me, pre-season and even the first handful of games were always about the transition to a light version of Enzo’s football. We won’t see the full version for a while still, but the basics of the shapes / responsibilities / movement will only now start to show themselves now. We had some real glimpses of the quality of the system v Saints and previous 2-3 games. In those I thought it was becoming really clear how good we are at breaking through the lines …. Sometimes that easy that we almost go back to do it again just for the hell of it!! It must be exhausting and demoralising to play against! It’ll be a very brave / foolish Championship side, or a top half prem side that will press us hard. The former will definitely be put to the sword, and I suspect the latter too. Love your post about the Norwich game btw… a lot of effort went into writing such an informative post. Thanks!
  18. Are you joking??? We are beating the press literally all the time. The reason Vestie dwells on the ball is to invite the press so that we can play through the lines. The harder a team presses the more likely we are to destroy them!
  19. That speed freak beat him once because JJ didn’t realise just how quick he was. After that he changed his starting position and had him in his pocket!
  20. I’m just loving Enzo already. Such a breath of fresh air - Tactics, honesty, humility, and passion …. Such a contrast to what went before. We’ve got our man!
  21. Excellent game tonight. Noticeable that he was congratulated by every player after the game
  22. From scrappy to sublime and little in between. What a great watch. LOVE IT!!
  23. We’re a month into learning a new plan A, and currently executing it for 10-20 minutes a game. Why do you want a new plan??
